>> man, if that doesn't get you pumped up, check your pulse! 7 arena as we count you down to game six of the nba finals. after 47 seasons, the warriors will play their final game in this building and hope to send dub nation home happy and force a game 7 in toronto. i do love the entrance. for the final time. the man who played ten years in the building. >> what was it like as you walk in knowing this was the final night? aside from oh, man! i almost didn't beat the traffic!
5:01 pm
>> this is such an amazing thing. for me, it was bitter sweet. because one, i love being here in oakland. i love the fans here. i love the experiences that i had over the many years here as a warrior. and you come in and you're like, there will be something bigger and better, yes. but i think there's definitely nostalgia for the people who make this building what it is. >> i got here in 2007, in april, during the we believe run. so i was spoiled a little bit. one of the iconic teams, i was aware of the team in my lifetime. now we have the splash brothers. i walked in thinking about my first time here. my first time coming to a game. there's still one more chance to have something really special. something that can define this and it will happen tonight. i believe the best will come out in this entire building.
5:02 pm
the things that we'll see. not just at halftime with the local rap group coming out. but as excited as i am about that, i'm excited to see with the adversity they faced. >> this is the third time we've had one of these, this could be the last night at. but now we know this is it. you know whenever the splash brothers hit threes, or somebody throws down a big dunk. as you look back in time here, the early days of oracle. you know the crowd will go insane. the question is, from the players' perspective, is that enough fuel? will that provide enough energy in and of itself to get over the top? the bottom line is, somebody has to make should shots. >> right. the warriors have to say, you have to blow this team out. the energy will last for the first quarter, right? so you have to be really pumped up. ready to go.
5:03 pm
then once it is close going down the stretch, i think toronto will feel good about themselves. that's why i feel for the warriors to be successful, they need to may a near perfect game. but it would be best if they would blow this team out. >> i'm sure steve kerr would write on the board, please blow this team out. the problem for the dubs, their two wins have been nail biters down to the wire and really close calls. i mean, in the last game, steph and klay needed to combine for all the threes. 20 threes made by the dubs. that's not the routine performance. >> the hope that they will freeway offensive energy that the building will feed off of. with some explosion. most notably rebounding more than five times. in the playoffs. it is the defense that they need
5:04 pm
to feed off the energy of the building. to put them in an uncomfortable position. each and every possession. this is it. there's no holding back. let's give all that energy on the defensive end to the warriors where they need it the most. >> we saw the great effort where they combine for nine straight points down the stretch to literally steal that game up in tron. >> i think it is 60 or 65. if you're toronto, it will be malpractice to allow both brothers to go off. the splash brothers to go off. because you have to take one of them out. and you've seen them do it throughout the finals. the double, the triple. i think you're going to see that tonight. if they don't do that, i think that will be malpractice. >> don't get kitchen sink on
5:05 pm
defense. >> one, two, three. there will be some running and jumping. every possible defensive scheme that they can come up with. not just use it en masse but to disrupt the flow. if they do, you have to do whatever you can to stop it. >> all right. let's go across court to where the warriors are warming up. mindi? >> reporter: yes. stephen curry is warming up. will the splash brothers ignite the crowd first? or will the crowd ignite splash brothers? either way, we know it will be incredibly loud here. every single fan is handed out this towel and they will be waving it in force. not only for oakland but for k.d. the players wearing a shirt with this same logo on it during warm-ups tonight. as you can see right behind me.
5:06 pm
there is chris demarco, one of the assistant coaches wearing it. they are saying they know what's at stake here. >> you know, this is sort of a once in a career moment. where you play in a building for the very last time. you absolutely don't know positively without a doubt that it is the last game. >> win or lose, we'll be able to share some emotion and say our goobs and hopefully with, our good-byes. it is a strange, unique night. >> for these fans that have endured plenty of tough seasons, the possibly close this out, to win the nba finals here. to win the last game here. to send us to a game seven with a chance to complete the three-peat especially. >> and it's also strange and unique series in that the last

four games have been won by the road team in these nba finals. you see steph curry getting ready. the warriors have been very good on the road during these playoffs. so have the toronto raptors. as they are 6-4 on the road and they've already won the last two games at oracle arena. even though the crowd will be incredibly loud. we know it will be an emotional night. this is 50/50. this doesn't guarantee a win. >> it is odd to have the road team winning four straight games. that just doesn't happen in the finals. one other thing that's played out here. playing the mind games where they warm up on the basket in front of the warriors bench. normally, the warriors would be there. he's on the other side of the

there. >> thank you, oracle. we welcome you back to the dubs on 7. so many memories, over 47 seasons from hall of famers like rick berry to the we believe squad to this epic run we've seen over the past five years. one guy who will not be here tonight unfortunately as the dance troop warms up outside. kevin durant who had surgery yesterday after the torn achilles' that he suffered in game five. i want to show you an instagram post that came from kd. that was in his hospital bed in new york. and he said, i wanted to be out there that night because that's what i do. he didn't blame anybody. he added that he would be cheering for the warriors in game six tonight. and one thing i got from his post is that he seemed to be

trying to absolve the warriors of any responsibility. the guy wanted to be on the court. it was unfortune the way circumstances played out. >> yeah. and i think that was important. for me, the biggest thing was, that kevin durant had all the information he needed to make an informed decision. they had a second opinion. i think it is very important. the final decision rests with kevin and he seemed like he made that decision with his eyes wide open. is whether or not there was a misdiagnosis of the achilles'. and therefore, he did not get all the full information that he needed. but there is no evidence to that at this moment. so right now we have to say that this was kevin's decision. he made it to the best of his ability. >> look at it from a different

lens. the medical part, the decision made by the entire collaborative effort, the second opinion and the warriors staff, is that there's obviously a social element involved. all the noise that you tell your athletes to shut out. it is so hard to shut out because of social media. and because these guys are engaged in social media. we know k.d. is one of those players. i hope that didn't leave anything. i hope in hindsight it helps him recover from the standpoint of people getting to know him a little better. clearly throughout the entire process of this season this year, there is been a lot of misunderstanding. that has been very loud in terms of noise since this. you heard his mother wanda come out. there's been a lot of noise about. this as he goes through this process all next year to get himself back on the floor, people get to understand more of who he is. he it will all be off the court. i hope he can use that time on

he has to get out there for his teammates to, who is to blame for this? >> well, we're a microwave, instant gratification type society. a lot of times in sports it plays out via a herd mentality. we want a pound of flesh. we want our athletes out there hobbling on one leg. like these are some of the fabled stories that have taken place in sports. maybe an ankle with isaiah thomas. but it's different when you're dealing with a strained calf and now he's dealing with a torn achilles'. that's not a ligament. that's not a muscle. those are things you cannot necessarily control. so if you can't go and do a workout on thursday to play friday, after missing 30 days, ain't no way you're ready to guard kawhi leonard in the nba finals on a monday. and if you'll notice, i said this. when he decided to play, a lot
