of sun in the beaches and 54 half moon bay and we're looking at san jose where we'll see temperatures almost near average in the mid-70s for afternoon highs and it will be by noon time and temperatures all in the 60s and by 4:00 it's sunny and cool to mild around the bay and looking at the late sunset after 8:30, chris? >> on the peninsula, police are stepping up patrols after a group of teenagers attacked pedestrians on a new foot bridge. it connects two communities and abc 7 news reporter luz pena has the latest. four weeks ago the east palo alto community celebrated the opening of this pedestrian bridge and joy turned into fear for some residents. >> i saw four or five teenagers, and i was scared, too, after seeing them. >> at 8:00 p.m. thursday the first attack was reported. >> they just converged on thee

bridge. >> according to police the first victim was attacked right here by five teenagers. three of them ran west and two ran east. let me show you an aerial shot of this bridge. >> in the exclusive skymap 7 technology you can see how this bridge connects two east palo alto neighborhoods. police say they're looking on both sides. an hour and 20 minutes later the second report came in. >> in the second robbery was described as six to eight suspects who surrounded the victim demanding the contents of his pocket. >> the victim according to police pulled out a knife and the teenager ran off. >> it makes me wary which is a sad commentary. >> east palo alto police said they searched the entire area for surveillance video to identify the suspects. >> the police say they'll have four patrol cars around this area and they also alert residents in this place to not walk alone, but to walk in

groups. in east palo alto, luz pena, abc 7 news. >> new this morning, a san francisco non-profit is reporting a spike in opioid overdoses. dope and the office of the medical examiner are reporting ten deaths over the past week or so. most occurred while the person was alone. dope is a group that teaches people how to use narcan and needle exchange. they're encouraging drug users to get help and learn more about narcan which can prevent opioid overdose deaths. in the east bay we are looking to learn the condition of a baby boy who almost died. firefighters revived the 23-month-old after finding him unconscious in a swimming pool on north francisco bay. the child had been in the pool for about five minutes. rescuers tell us they detected his heartbeat after performing cpr for several minutes. he was rushed to the hospital. bart is looking to get back on track after a very tough

week. equipment problems caused system wide delays on friday. those issued followed complaints earlier this week about sweltering cars as well as concernsver t new fair gates. abc 7 news reporter trevina fortson has more. >> reporter: aimproving its relationship with riders. friday morning, a problem with the train equipment caused major delays at bay fair and nearby bart stations. instead of making automatic switches between the tracks that allowed the trains to function on their proper routes we have to crank them manually that creates a backup. >> they're manually switching trains to the pleasanton lines for hours and the issue was fixed and the hiccup rounded out other problems like no air conditioning on cars during record high temps. >> it's in the 90s. we were perspiring alisticall se the train cars are 20, 30, 40 years

our efforts to build a better bay area. its fleet of the future will be in pittsburgh. they'll begin assembling rail cars. at least 50 people will be hired at first and those jobs will improve the quality of life in his city. >> there is a jobs housing imbalance and we really need to create more jobs here in pittsburgh so people can live, work and play here locally. >> more than 700 new cars will replace bart's original fleet. say good-bye to the bart ticket. the transit agency says it plans to phase out the paper ticket by the end of the year and it's pushing all riders toward using clipper cars. last year bart added a 50-cent per-trip fee to all trips paid for using paper tickets. abc 7 news devoted an entire week to covering bart as part of our commitment to building a better bay area. you can see all those stories on our website, abc 7 news.com. >> happening today, a work shop

to help job seekers hone their skills and they're holding a job readiness work shop to teach applicants to apply for one of their jobs. the center is holding a job fair to hire tickety and a variety of other positions. chase center is expected to employ nearly 2500 people. today's work shop starts at 9:30 a.m. at the bay view hunter's point ymca. in the south bay, santa clara county is holding its first-ever transgender job fair. transgender workers report twice the rate of unemployment as other americans and nearly half are underemployed. the job fair begins at noon at the lgbtq+ center in san jose. multiple certains will be there to talk about potential openings and people who are transgender can get tips for applying to county jobs. the toronto raptors say they're cooperating with the alameda county sheriff's office as the

agency pursues a misdemeanor battery am complaint, masai ujiri is accused of pushing a deputy to try to get on the court after the championship win. ujiri did not show his credentials. >> you cannot push and shove multiple times a law enforcement officer in the performance of their duties. it's unacceptable. we in law enforcement are not there to be pushed around and we're trying to do our job, and simply a little bit of communication would have went a long way. >> a fan who was nearby said the deputy did not ask for credentials and that ujiri did not hit the deputy. >>ime now is 6:08. we've been telling you about our efforts to build our better bay area and one of the topics we're examining is homelessness. in fremont, officials hope to begin construction by the end of the year. however the exact location is still up for debate with some concern that the process is being rushed.

>> there is growing concern over a growing problem. the city of fremont, not immune from homelessness and its ongoing impact. ? not all, some have drug issues, chronic alcoholism and mental health issues. >> city officials are hoping to build a 45-bed homeless navigation center by 2020. a dozen sites are now under consideration including this vacant lot owned by niles discovery church. however 3,000 people have signed the petition against this specific location. >> this is from the city services that the homeless people need and deserve. this is also a very busy intersection right next to a busy train track. >> church leaders who are supportive of the project were unavailable for comment. city council members will hold a study session next week to establish criteria which city staff will then use to narrow down the search. nearly 500 homeless people were counted city wide in 2017. the total will likely go up when

new numbers are released this summer. ? we're going to need to build more affordable housing, but that's going to take a while to come online and in the interim we've got to start getting people off the street back into stable, permanent living situations. >> most neighbors want to help the homeless in some form, but say they also deserve a say in the process. >> what would people who need a lot of help and follow up, where are we going to track them and how long are we going to track them? that is a tragedy. >> the center would be built with funds allocated by the state and operate for five years. the city could use a final look as soon as september. time now is 6:10. on the peninsula the ritz carlton and half moon bay have agreed to pay a seven-figure fine for blocked access to a nearby beach. staff had turned them away from a parking area reserved for the public. you can see where the resort is

argen is tracking the forecast. >> hi, chris. we were trying to cool down and this week we can't seem to get any warmth and it's just temporary and in fact, we'll get to near average in a few days. live doppler 7 picking up on the extensive cloud deck and pier 39 showing you the clouds and the sea lions wondering where the sun is, right? limited sun today in the city. 55 right now at morgan hill and good morning to you and upper 50s in mountain view in san jose and it is 56 over in oakland and a look with san jose with plenty of cloud cover and 52 in santa rosa. mist and drizzle along the coast and wipers might be needed and out towards the livermore valley and this is, of course, lake tahoe where numbers are in the low 40s and you can see a nice, bright start there. our forecast highlights widespread clouds with the patchy drizzle this morning and

mild and inland, cool at the coast today and father's day with a little bit of warming around the bay and inland. so as we go through the next several hours and the clouds burn back to the shoreline keeping it gray there and looking at the early pushback across the bay. high pressure wants to nudge in a bit and looks to the earlier burnoff tomorrow and that will allow for slightly warmer conditions and maybe a few peeks of sun and you'll feel the warm inland and upper 80s to 90s around the bay and out of the 60s at least and still cool half moon bay, but the city should come up a couple of degrees through tuesday and not a lot of change into wednesday and the summer spread so we'll have the clouds at the coast and warmer conditions around the bay and today just low 60s and plentyud 71, a little sun in santa cruz. 76 in san jose and look for 75

in sunnyvale on the peninsula and the onshore wind allowing for 70s menlo park and down around loss altos and south city in the north bay and for 60s, petaluma, and in calistoga, 81 degrees and 66 for you in oakland and upper 60s in san leandro and fremont. cool day for you and inland, we're looking at mid-70s in concord and it's cooler than average. those 80s, you have to go out to the delta. a cool one there around 70 bayside and low 80s inland and pretty pleasant if you like it on the mild side by bringing in warmth and low to mid-90 ease for bayside and inland warm-up and we will get slightly milder at the coast. so this is pretty typical for this time of year. finally, i haven't said that for

of the doctor-patient relationship. >> well, basically, we think that people have the right to get the opinion of a doctor who doesn't follow the mainstream about vaccine exemptions which is essentially cdc contra indications. attorney richard jaffe is also representing a san francisco doctor who is currently under investigation by the city attorney for possibly writing improper exemptions. he's now filed a lawsuit to prevent the city from obtaining information as part of that investigation and the medical experts was repeatedly. there have been 1,022 measles cases reported in the u.s. so far this year. in the south bay, community groups are putting more pressure on google to build affordable housing in san jose. they rallied this week to demand google build thousands of homes in the year near deerdon station where the company plans to build a massive campus. the new report released by a
