neighborhood not far from where the warriors new chase center is under construction. i'm dan ashley. i'm ab ns reporter kate larson joins us live from spark social, a food truck farc at fourth street. >> scary moments in the past hour or so, right? >> absolutely. because there were 508 people here at sparks social. you can see sheds behind my shoulder that burned about an hour ago. take a look. you can see the san francisco fire department is still on scene here. we've also got some cell phone video shortly after the fire broke out around 4:00. black smoke filled the sky here in mission bay. so spark social be an outdoor food truck, biergarten event venue. there were about 50 people here when the fire suddenly broke out and because of the astroturf which is made of rubber it, spread quickly into the dining area. now, joining us live now is carlos who is the owner of spark

social. you were here in your office when the fire broke out. what was in the shed that burned? was there anything flammable. >> no, obviously something was flammable. bottles of wine and glassware and things like that. it's strange. we don't know what started it. we'll find out now. it was just dry storage, normal glasses and bottles >> pg&e was here but there were no gas lines inside. >> not at all. >> i know that there were many people here and also your customers. nobody got hurt. >> thank god nobody got hurt. luckily it wasn't during the rush hour. it was around 4:00 p.m. there wasn't many people on site. it was tucked away at the very end of the property. just thank god again that nobody got hurt, absolutely. >> i'm sure you're going to be looking into, of course, why this happened at your business. >> absolutely. the fire department and the police are here and they're looking into what happened.

and yeah, we're going to figure it all out. >> thanks, carlos. i appreciate it. >> reporter: so the fire department is mopping up. they didn't say this was an explosion, just a fast-moving fire because of the wind and rubber astroturf that really made this burn quickly. they say one or two sheds caught fire. they had to destroy another and now working on figuring out why this happened in the first place. live in mission bay, kate larson, abc7 news. >> thankfully no one hurt. >> today's fire burned near where glams destroyed apartments being built in mission bay five years ago. investigators believe a welding torch set off the fire in march of 2014. >> pg&e has reached a settlement with several counties and cities that could have it paying out as much as $1 billion. >> sonoma county and the city of santa rosa say their share will be about $115 million. the tubbs fire did extensive damage wiping out entire

communities and at the time one of the deadliest and most destructive wildfires in state history. >> napa county are in on the agreement. that area was burned by the atlas area. the settlements do not affect resints or business who have taken legal action against the utility. that's all still pending. also the settlements must be approved by a bankruptcy court before they are paid out. >> oakland mayor libby schaaf is pushing back against trump's immigration plan. >> that is not the values of oakland. it should not be the values of america. >> the president is threatening new immigration enforcement sweeps. mayor schaff and the president have butted heads over this issue before. >> the president's threat comes as he officially kicks ouf "20/20," his re-election presidential campaign right now in florida. you can see some of the trump family members and vice president pence is about to speak. this is of course, in orlando, florida. florida being a key battle ground state. >> let's listen for a moment to

mindless rhetoric as he prepares to announce his re-election bid. but we have got to be prepared. >> reporter: mayor schaff's comments tuesday morning the latest in her fight against the trump administration's policy on immigration. last year she drew criticism from i.c.e. officials after she warned constituents of an impending i.c.e. raid. >> everybody we arrest is a target of the enforcement operation. >> reporter: president trump asked jeff sessions to consider prosecuting her but mayor schaff made no apology. >> this administration continues to deceive the american people. >> reporter: speaking to reporters this morning, she doubled down and sent a reassuring message to oakland's immigrant communities. >> we know that if you know documented workers were removed from california tomorrow, our economy would crumble. >> reporter: but not everyone in the bay area agrees. >> because they're breaking the law. they're not paying the taxes. and they're making me suffer economically in order to support

it will go into effect six months later once signed. as far as legislative measures go, the banning of e-cigarettes by the board was a slam-dunk, that it passed unanimously was no surprise. >> we spent it the '90s battling big tobacco and now we see it's new form through e-cigarettes. >> reporter: the strongest argument against the grets is that tobacco products like juul appeal to young people. >> for every adult that uses e cigarettes to stop smoking or cut back on nicotine, dozens of children start. >> reporter: e cigarettes are marketed to smokers as a way to satisfy their nicotine addiction without the harm that comes from cigarettes. yet, these products have never gone through the food and drug administration approval process. juul's lab based in san francisco said today the prohibition of vapor products for all adults in san francisco will not effectively durazo underage use and leave

cigarettes on shelves as the only choice for adult smokers. once the ban is in place, these brods cannot be ordered online or mailed to a san francisco address. some argued it would arm small businesses and create a black market. >> we don't want this in the hands of kids. if we put this in place, it will go to the black market which increases crime. >> i already told my landlord a week ago, if this ban is going to go, i'm going to close my business. >> reporter: now, every supervisor there said they were very concerned about the impact this will have on those mom and pop shops. now a working group has been proposed to help these small businesses weather the storm. i'm live in san francisco, abc7 news. >> lyanne, thank you. the affordable housing crisis becomes even more real as the bay area finds itself at the top of a dubious distinction. that's next. >> plus the fight over vaccines takes a new turn as state

truth versus lies a trawl theme today in the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. prosecutors questioned defendant max harris about his honesty. lesley brinkley has the latest. >> reporter: the prosecution drilled into ghost ship defendant max harris today telling him you lied. deputy da autry james got harris

to define a lie. he said a lie is telling an untruth. then they replayed a body cam video in which harris told an officer who asked him if he lived at the warehouse, no, no esit's a 24-hour art studio he said when he actually lived there. harris also said i'm sorry, i misspoke when confronted with multiple correspondence with the landlords about electricity use. >> it's a matter of semantics. max explained what his definition of a lie was. he's not trying to be evasive at all. he's being extremely forthcoming. >> his aunt sat listening to his testimony accompanied by harris's friends. >> he's doing amazing. > i think he's got the truth on his side and basically just has to answer the questions. >> reporter: but the families of the 36 people who died in the ghost ship warehouse fire weren't buying it. >> he's totally lying. i think he's been very well

$61 an hour to afford a home in those counties. that's an income of about $127,000 a year keep in mind. the numbers show affordability in the bay area has not improved from last year. >> the more water you use, the more you have to pay. so if you have a leak in your home, that could be costing a lot of money. >> absolutely. you don't know the it literally. 7 on your side's michael finny is here with more. >> reporter: shorter showers and full dishwashers is can help saab water. you might have leaks around your home you don't know about. fortunately, there are some easy fixes. stop flushing money and water down the drain. seemingly minor leaks in and around your home can really add up. before you start investigating consumer reports says first check your water meter. >> have a new miracle leading on the top. check that and come back in about two hours make sure nobody in the house uses any water and whether he you go and see it again, if the number has gone up, it means you've got a leak

somewhere in the house. >> reporter: mostly easy and inexpensive to fix. the tricky part is finding them. >> the bathroom accounts for more than half the water used in your home. check out the toilet. >> reporter: to check for leaks, add a drop of food coloring to the tank. wait 15 minutes. if it ends up in the toilet bowl, you have a leak and you'll need to replace the flapper or valve seal. consider replacing toilets older than 25 years. the newer models consumer reports looked at use as little as 1.28 gallons per flush. for a leaky shower head, use pipe tape or teflon tape to secure a tight connection between the shower head and the pipe. check any faucets, too. you can usually just replace the washer or gasket. >> you don't have to get rid of the entire thing. you want to make sure to look under the vanity for leaks you may not see. >> reporter: check your kitchen faucet too and be on the lookout for leaks behind your walls.

temperatures rebound on friday for the first day of summer. 6:00 tonight, fog spilling over the bay as you head into the late night early morning hours you'll see quite a bit of fog around the bayside and inland communities, as well. some parts along the coast, as well. as we head into the afternoon, that fog will hang around just like today near the beaches. temperatures first thing in the morning in the low to upper 50s. fog a little bit of mist, good idea to grab that extra layer for the morning hours and for the afternoon, you can pretty much get rid of it if you live or work in the south bay. 3 in san jose. 86 in morgan hill. pen redwood city 63, pacifica 64. half moon bay cloudy all day long. downtown san francisco 64. in the north bay 60s at the beaches. 76 in san rafael, up to the 80s around santa rosa. 7 in vallejo. 70 in berkeley. 9 cas toe valley.
