get a couple more tow trucks to our scene. you're up to about four miles of backup there. that is translating to about a 40-minute delay. stick to el camino real or 280. a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights on 5:20 this morning. no major issues, typical delays. in san mateo county two homicides on skyline boulevard in just as many days. >> authorities say those homicides may be related. abc 7 news reporter jobina fortson just got to the scene. what can you tell us? >> reporter: natasha and reggie, i just talked with deputies pulling off in this highway patrol car, they say there's a spokesperson from the sheriff's office is working on the details. she's at the crime scene which is around this corner and down the roadway. where i'm standing is the media staging area. i was just on this street yesterday because a deputy found a body on the side of the road monday night, and last night,

another body was found in the same area. for the most recent homicide, the sheriff's office says it does have a suspect in custody. that person could be related to the victim from late monday night. family m a aai.identified by relatives we worked for towed f scene yesterday had the company's markings on it. family members say he took a call around 9:00 p.m. the night he died. he leaves behind a wife and daughter. sheriff's deputies are telling everyone in this area, if anyone knocks on your door, do not answer unless that person can identify themselves as a law enforcement officer. live in san mateo county, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. >> thank you for the updates. new overnight, two adults and two kids are out of their home after this pfeiffer in san jose. the fire started in the garage. this is pretty dramatic. crews had to cut the door to get

in. the fire broke out at this home on bristolwood lane. all four people got out after noticing the smoke and flames come the garage. >> there was laundry going on in the garage, potentially could come from there. there was some flight flickering, we could assume there's an electrical issue. >> those crews were able to get the fire under control in less than an hour. speaking of firefighters, abc 7 news is committed to building a better bay area. that includes bringing awareness to issues important to all of us. here is a map of san jose. there's a threat of public safety brought about by all the traffic there. in an an effort to improve emergency response times, the city is building three new fire departments and relocating two more. the goal is to get to the scene within eight minutes 80% of the time. firefighters find themselves frequently hitting traffic when

time is of the essence. >> i think taking traffic into consideration, it's wonderful. they don't have to wait in line basically to get where they need to go. >> a $650 million public safety bond is helping to pay for the fire stations. the alameda county sheriff's deputy involved in an altercation with the toronto raptors president is considering a lawsuit. the deputy says moments after the warriors lost on thursday, ma sigh ujiri shoved him and hit him in the head. an attorney claims his client is on medical leave after suffering a concussion and jaw injury. the sheriff's office is also pursuing a battery charge against ujiri. a ban on the sale of e-cigarettes is expected to go into effect by early next year in san francisco. this morning we're learning that juul is already working to stop it. supervisors voted unanimously many support of the ban yesterday. it still needs final approval. under the bill people would not be able to buy e-cigarettes in

city stores or receive mail orders to a city address. according to the chronicle, e-cigarette maker juul based in san francisco wants to override the ban. the company is collecting signatures for a ballot measure so voters can decide. sfo is still working out the kinks with the right share pickup spots. the airport tweeted it's a challenge from 8:00 until midnight. for the most past it says road congestion is improving. it's been two weeks since sfo implemented the new ride share policy. people calling for an uber or lyft at the airport have to walk to the parking garage to get picked up. a story you'll only see on abc 7 news. a family who lost $10,000 in a rental scam in south san francisco now has a safe place to sleep. >> we first told you about this on monday. the gonzalez family was living out of their van after a fake landlord stole their life savings from them. since then abc 7 news viewers have reached out to help.

a billion dollar cocaine bust in philadelphia. shipping containers were packed with illegal drugs on a cargo ship bound for europe. a senior law enforcement official said there are more than 33,000 pounds of cocaine. sources say that coke was not meant for philadelphia, but instead for the netherlands and fr charged with trafficking. part of building a better bay area is finding solutions to the extreme housing costs that all of us face. voters may soon decide on a solution for one of the hardest hit groups, teachers. according to the chronicle, four san francisco supervisors are proposing a ballot measure that would increase this and speed up the number of affordable units for teachers. the proposal would provide 100%

scene. a lot of folks slowing down to take a look at that as well. >> updating breaking news in san mateo county. for the second time this week san jose police are investigating a homicide. today's investigation could be related to another from monday night. abc 7 news reporter jobina fortson live with more details. >> reporter: this is a really disturbing situation. i was just on this street yesterday because a deputy found a body monday night on the side of the road f sky boulevard here. and then another body was located in the same area last night. we received an update that a spokesperson from the sheriff's office is getting a press release approved right at this moment to release to us so weor this case. the sheriff's office says it does have a suspect in custody for this most recent homicide, and that suspect could be related to the victim from late monday night. that victim was identified by family as abdul mailk.

convicted garcia zarate on illegal gun possession. the u.s. attorney's office wants to try him on federal gun charges. garcia zarate's lawyers argue that would be double jeopardy. in a ruling on a separate case, the supreme court says the state and federal government can charge a person over a single incident in separate trials. garcia zarate fired a bullet that ricocheted and killed steinle in 2017. in the east bay one of the two men charged in the ghost ship trial faces more questions from prosecutors. the prosecution drilled into defendant max harris yesterday. he admitted he lied to oakland police when he told him a year before the december 2016 fire that no one lived in the building. he said he feared being evicted if authorities knew the warehouse was inhabited. harris admitted he wished he had done more to get people out when the fire erupted. 36 people died. the ghost ship trial has gone on for weeks.

have dedicated fitness spaces where you can try out equipment before you buy. the bay area is the most expensive place to rent a home in the entire country. san francisco, san mateo and marin counties tied for that top spot. this according to a new report from a national low income housing coalition. an average two-bedroom rental goes for almost $3,200 a month. good luck getting that in san francisco. you need to make just under $61 an hour to afford a home in those counties. when you add that up, that's an income of about $127,000 a year. i actually think those numbers are a little conservative. wow. taking a live look at the new york stock exchange. trading gets under way this morning up about 50 points. today the federal reserve will decide if it's going to lower a key interest rate, something president trump has been pushing for. what's that smell? >> don't look at me. >> it's not reggie.

he smell great. a new poll finds nearly 40% of young adults from 18 to 24 have not used deodorant in the last month. 40%. about 30% of adults between 25 and 34 say the exact same thing. a market research company conducted the survey and we don't know why exactly young people are not using deodorant. it appears it's not because they don't care about hygiene. that poll found that they wash their hair as much as their parents' generation. but perhaps they're worried about toxicity and going green. >> it's times like this that i wonder what is alexis thinks? >> we've talked about it before. this is weird. you start hearing about the aluminum and everything that's in a traditional deodorant. i'm wondering if this is a conscious decision or this is just, huh, skip out on it. the more we find out about what we're putting on our bodies every day. >> we talked about how expensive

temperatures. we're going to have upper 70s in mill pete pass and sunnyvale. our spread on the innocence goes from 71 in millbrae to redwood city at 79. mid to upper 60s downtown and source late toe, five degrees cooler than yesterday. farther north you go, you start to hit low to mid 90s. along the east bayshore, warmest temperatures. everybody in the low to mid 70s. a breezy 69 in richmond. we've got mid to upper oates through most of the east bay. barely holding on to 90s are antioch and brentwood. low to upper 50s with more cloud cover tonight. look at that tomorrow. the 90s are gone. only middle 80s inland. the 90s come back and make us surge through the weekend before disappearing again next week. alexis? >> we still have a couple of pretty big issues if you're traveling on 101. the first one in san mateo

before peninsula avenue. that far right lane is blocked. that's an improvement. we had the three right lanes blocked. this is due to a four-cash collision that has been there for a while. we did have some injuries and they're working on getting more tow trucks to the scene. both northbound 101 and westbound 92 impacted by that. northbound 101 before ellis street went off the roadway into the pushes and caught fire. that's blocking the right lane. westbound 237 heavy through the mountain view area. that's getting back home into san jose as well. westbound 80 highway 4 to the maze looking good, 25 minutes. only 11 minutes across the bay bridge in san francisco. once you make it through the toll plaza, and southbound 101, san francisco to sfo still in the green at 11 minutes. whoo! that thing is huge. >> oh, my goodness, look at this. it's not what they caught but what they saw. a shark approached their boat coming feet away from the men
