they saw a car drive towards them they believed was the suspect. >> a deputy fired at the vehicle driving towards the victim and both deputies. the suspect was not hit by gunfire but the vehicle went off the roadway into a ditch. >> the suspect identified as 26-year-old malik dosouqui of pacifica. >> he was being weird. he wouldn't say nothing and just to himself. >> jeremy who didn't want to show his face on camera grew up wth malik. he says the family are good people but mahlik had become reclusive. he would stand in front of our driveway and stare at us, stand for a couple seconds. stare at us continue to do what he's doinging. > dosouqui was hospitalized for an injury to his arm. once he's cleared he will be booked into san mateo county jail. coming up at 6:00, the stabbing

victim in the first incident his family with the yemeni consulate. unser hassan, abc7 news. >> thanks very much. today police released body camera video of an officer involved shooting last august. officers tried to you talk the man,' apparently had a knife in one hand and a pair of shears in another. he refused to put them down. eventually he begins approaching the officers. they give him commands and shoot him with bean bag rounds. he sprints towards the cops. this is when the shooting happens. he survived and was sentenced to more than three years in prison. >> pg&e today released the results of the equipment safety inspections ahead of this year's fire season. pg&e will be replacing part of a transmission line and several towers in marin county. crews found several issues on a line that serves sausalito. they're get a plan in place for

the next steps. pg&e announced they will permanently shut down the line that started the deadly camp fire in paradise. one of two defendants in the ghost ship trial wrapped up his testimony this afternoon. max harris became emotional when talking about the eight friends he lost in the fire. and he defended his actions before and during the tragedy. news reporter laura anthony has the story. >> reporter: in a contentious cross-examination, prosecutor audrey james tried to get defendant max harris to admit he was calling many of the shots at the warehouse. harris has admitted calling himself the executive director of the artists collective but said that was more of a joke. asked about the fateful night of december 2nd, 2016, james drilled harris why he didn't point out the building's exits to arriving concert goers. "the exits were clear. i never felt a need to have someone stand by the door and point." >> 36 people died that night.

chris? >> reporter: dan, a lot of attention on google after this announcement. this will certainly help with building homes in the immediate future but it could come at a cost to cities in long run. >> google's $1 billion housing investment plan drew praise from business advocacy groups but also met with skepticism from some of you on our abc7 news facebook page. these concerns were shared by a group of goog employees and community members who protested today at the shareholders meeting in sunnyvale. >> they shouldn't portray this as something out of the goodness of their hours but because the community spoke out. >> reporter: google plans to set aside $750 million worth of company owned land for housing development over the next ten years. the ceo estimates up to 15,000 homes could be built but the exact number is debatable because google hasn't provided specs how the homes will be

the state is moving toward new limits on charter schools, something that was a major issue when oakland teachers went on strike in february. across california, 628,849 students are in 1306 charter schools. that's 10% of all public school students. the percentage and is much higher in oakland where an stipulated 27% of students are enrolled in charter schools. abc7 news reporter lyanne melendez looks at the new recommendations. >> reporter: remember when california's governor said it was time to take a closer look at the impact charter schools have had on public schools? four months later, here it is. ten pages worth of recommendations were put together by a task force and handed to governor gavin newsom. among them, extend the timeline top approve or deny a charter

south bay. the santa clara sheriff's office tweeted a copy of this fraudulent let hear claims to be a foreclosure warning and claims there's a lien on the person's property. abc7 news called the phone number. a man named greg answered and hung up. the sheriff's office says the county would not send out this kind of notice to people. >> as automakers across the nation scramble to replace potentially deadly air bags, one company is trying to avoid any fix. >> for the fourth straight year, general motors is asking to be excused from replacing takata air bags in millions of cars and pickup trucks. >> they've been successful for all of these years. gm claims its air bags are unique and not likely to blow up. they say none of the ruptures occurred in any of its suvs orpikup trucks. takata declared the gm air bags

as defective. the takata defect was blamed for 24 deaths and hundreds of injuries worldwide. a major pharmaceutical lab is recalling dozens of drugs that may not be safe. the fda says some of the drugs may not be sterile or could have been cross capitaled. the drugs treat conditions ranging from indigestion to mood disorders distributed from january to april of this year. premiere will be sending certified letters to patients and doctors. the company says it has no reports of any adverse effects. j. d. powers has a very technology designed to make cars safer on the road is causing confusion for many new opens are. lane change and blind spot warnings, autopilot and collision detection make us safer. many owners can't tell if the systems are on or off.

play. a live look. sun shining over the shark tank. it is a lovely view. fog sitting right near the coast. that's holding temperatures in the upper 50s in places like half moon bay, get farther inland and you're up into the upper 80s. we had a range of temperatures from the low 60s to the low 90s today. those numbers did come down a few degrees. we'll see the cooling tomorrow. as you look at live doppler 7 and satellite radar, you'll notice how gray it is near the coastline. as the system buts through the pacific northwest, it will cool all the bay area down. high pressure will allow the cooling to be felt. it will be noticeable tomorrow. the fog along the coast around the bay tonight, 6:00 p.m. midnight, it's pretty much widespread cloud cover across the region. tomorrow morning around 5:30, you'll not only be looking at gray skies but even patchy drizzle. be careful, 8:00 a.m., still plenty of cloud cover around. as we head into the afternoon, we'll start to see clearing.
