11 people. the very same plane was involved in byron. >> our reporter joins us now live from the newsroom to plain. >> reporter: the plane used to take off from a sky diving center in byron until 2016, the same year a near crash happened there. >> the day that happened, i was here. >> reporter: july 23, 2016, a t started barrel rolling through the sky. it was leased by bay area sky diving in byron. a new company took over in 2018 and didn't acquire that plane. the ntsb blamed the erratic flight on pilot error. >> it was just spinning, spinning, the plane dropped. i don't remember how many thousands of feet, but it was scary for the people on board that aircraft.

the byron incident crashed friday in hawaii as it carried 11 people, killing everyone on board. >> it starts to flip or reverse, as' it declines. and then it skimmed off those trees and smashed down. >> reporter: it's not clear how the plane ended up in hawaii, but it cleared federal inspections before leaving california. meantime, those in the sky diving community are struggling with this loss. >> it's very tragic. it hits chose to home. we're a close knit community. i sky dived in hawaii people and i know some of the people. >> one of the victims was a beloved instructor from hawaii. tonight, frien a family are posting tributes on facebook.

san jose police say the boy's mother had parked and started to walk into a business, that's when the boy jumped out of the car and into the path of a pickup truck. the child later died at the hospital. the driver is cooperating with police. this is san jose's 23rd deadly crash this year. a vigil will be held tomorrow for sacramento police officer tara o'sullivan, and her funeral is set for thursday. she was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call. police released video of the officers knocking on the door. the video is intense, and some may find it disturbing. >> you're not in trouble, dude. [ gunfire ] barrage of gunfire, as officers retreat. they also released photos of the weapons found inside the home. the police chief calls it an

ambush. the suspect, adele ramos, is being held without bail and scheduled to be in court monday. a woman died during what police think may have been a case of domestic violence. "abc7 news" was there in balboa terrace. officers found a man with blood on his hands and detained him. police went to the home after being asked to check on the people who live there. >> there was someone that came into one of the police stations and was concerned about some type of domestic violence incident. they got to this address and found the two people here. >> police also surrounded another home a few miles away, but they haven't revealed how that home is connected to the woman's death. you now need to dial a 1 when making local calls. the new 341 area code is being added in contra costa county

the ntsb is investigating. several businesses have been red tagged following a massive fire. it erupted on east 14th street on georgia way and it could take days to secure the building, which is in danger of collapsing. today, the funeral for malia davis was held in houston, texas. she's the 4-year-old girl who disappeared and later found dead. our sister station abc 13 got ahold of this program to honor the little girl. photos of a happy malia lined the pages. the program contained a letter as if it was from her. her favorite little pony was featured on her themed casket. >> the pictures they sent to us from her, we put her on rainbow dash, where she was riding

their place, they have lots to offer the bay area. two of the camp fire's victims remain unidentified. with no one coming forward, they're looking into using forensic genealogy, the same method used to arrest joseph de'ange de'angelo, who was accused of murders dating back to the 1970s. officials could run into some hurdles since websites are changing the way they work with law enforcement because of the golden state killer case. a southern california family thought they had the perfect tiny home, even agreeing to be on a tv show. now they discovered the home did not belong to them and it's disappeared. our reporter with our sister station in los angeles explains. >> it's to welcome you officially.

>> reporter: a small dream that turned into a big nightmare for rebecca and ben richards. >> they put their big fancy tv show on and they're benefiting from us being on the show and now we're out of pocket all that money, and we don't have our tiny house. roit instarted when they decided to move their young family to nashville, tennessee, to follow ben's music career. they wanted a home they could afford, and found builder mike bedsell who sold them on the idea on participating in a tv show. one key advantage, the trailer on which their home would sit would be paid for by the tv show. however, there was a catch. >> but we were not able to accept the trailer, we had to go with their supplier. >> reporter: they paid a total of $11,500 for the trailer. >> our expectation is that he was registering the title in our

name as he requested all the documentation to register the title. >> reporter: as they episode went into production, they say they were still trying to secure financing, which almost put the brakes on going forward. >> he said that as long as we paid for the trailer in full, he would commit to doing the tv show and guarantee to having the home completed by filming. >> reporter: after the home was finished and filming wrapped, they said the home needed some major fixes. so we went back to his workshop, and with nowhere else to live, the family moved into it. that's when they asked bedsell for a final quote. but for some reason, he wouldn't do it. >> mike, you need to answer our questions. >> reporter: the richards say they confronted him. >> so you're being evicted from the property for being five monthsr payments. and so this house needs to be moved from the property. so what are we supposed to do

with everything in the house? >> reporter: we contacted the property owner who confirmed he was evicted and still owes them $30,000. soon after their confrontation with bedsell, they learned the home they thought was theirs turned out did not belong to them. >> we spoke to the lawyer, and he said if you move it, we'll have you arrested for stealing. we said what are you talking about? he said you don't own the title to the house. >> reporter: bedsell had put the trailer in his name. after their tiny home shortly thereafter disappeared. >> we have written where is the tiny house, no response at all. >> reporter: now they have no idea where their home is. yesterday, they say they found it listed on a site for $148,000. >> now we can't afford a lawyer to even seek the -- to get our
