>> narrator: now fromeaking new. >> i was concerned about looking into their house, i was concerned about running. >> and that breaking news, three people including the suspect are dead tonight following a shooting at a ford dealership in the south bay. >> it happened just after 6:00 p.m. on conditt road in morgan hill. that's off of highway 101. let's get live to abc7 news reporter liz kreutz. she's not far from where that shooting happened. liz, what have you learned? >> reporter: yeah, good evening, a very sad situation here. as you said, two victims have died. we know as well as the suspect who came into this ford dealership here in morgan hill, opened fire, sending employees running. according to police, around 6:00 p.m. tonight, morgan hill police department received multiple calls about a shooting here at the ford store. officers arrived in minutes and found a suspect on the ground with a gun in his hand.

inside the building is where they found the two male victims. >> there is no outstanding suspects at this time. the scene is secured and we're moving forward with our investigation. >> reporter: now, police have not confirmed that this was a workplace confrontation, but here is what one employee who was able to escape told us. >> from my understanding is one of the parts department employees is an older gentleman, was fired today and came back. and this happened all around i think like 6:00. came back, shot two of the managers who would have been the individuals that fired him. i'm very upset myself that, you know, these are people i know. i never expected this to ever happen, especially at a car dealership. >> reporter: now, that employee said that many of the employees ran into the la quinta hotel which is right next to the dealership here to escape. police are still here right now. they plan to be here late into the night continuing their investigation. and just on a community level, you know, many people in the

area have come by. they say that morgan hill is a very small community. everybody knows everybody. many people know people who work at this dealership, and so it's left many people shaken tonight. in morgan hill, liz kreutz, abc7 news. >> and we sent out the alert about this breaking news at 9:00:09 p.m. through the abc7 news mobile app. it's one way to stay on top of the news when it happens. just be sure to enable the push alerts to receive updates. >> we are getting a better idea to what led to a murder suicide in san jose that left five people dead. according to our media partners with the mercury news, the gunman was upset with his wife's family because they got visas while his family was denied. the suspect is identified as chi den ta. we haven't learned the names of the four victims. his wife escaped and called 911. >> new developments tonight, plans are moving forward for a new navigation center along san francisco's embarcadero. the city had already approved the project near bryant street and tonight the board of

supervisors rejected an appeal from a group of nearby residents. >> we're concerned that the city is going to import a problem that we don't have with this navigation center. >> reporter: despite fierce push back from some living in the area, the san francisco board of supervisors voted tuesday to move forward with a planned navigation center on the embarcadero. the center would have 200 beds making it the largest in the city. those in favor of the shelter say it's needed for the community. >> it is time to be expediting homeless shelters. i don't know how anyone can look at our streets and say that it's not a good idea to expedite homeless shelters. >> planners would like the center to open in a few months to move people off the street toward permanent housing. san francisco already operates navigation centers elsewhere and critics claim they have blighted other neighbors neighborhoods. >> other navigation centers have much smaller size, require almost daily police and paramedic and fire services, and

already in our area, the police and fire department are stretched thin. >> an attorney for safe embarcadero say opponents of the navigation center plan to take legal action. he believes its fate will be decided in court. >> new at 11:00, san francisco's muni says commuters should notice safety upgrades made to its newest light rail trains. all doors will now open on muni's new lrvs. muni locked the back doors on the cars after the examiner shared video of a woman being dragged after getting her hand caught in a closing door. those doors now have new sensors to detect when someone is stuck. and couplers have been modified so the new cars can run as two-car trains again. >> as expected, san francisco's board of supervisors voted today to ban the sale of e-cigarettes in the city. the city is the corporate home of juul, the biggest producer of e-cigarettes in the united states. the vote was on two ordinances, prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes in brick and mortar stores and online if shipping to addresses in the city.

mayor london breed has ten days to sign the legislation, which she had said she will do. the law would go into effect next year. this vote makes the city the first in the country to ban the sale of e-cigarettes. >> more than 70 gray whales have been found dead along the west coast this year and scientists are trying to figure out why. 14 have wash aed ashore in the bay area and marine biologists discuss their initial findings and theories. the san francisco chapter of the american satation society hosted biologist mo flannery of the california academy of sciences. her team along with the marine mammal center have performed 12 necropsies of gray whales this year. the leading cause of death is malnutrition, which scientists say could be due to a multitude of factors, including climate change. >> they may not be getting enough food. they may have to be traveling farther to get food. the food may be a lesser quality than it has been in the past, or there may be more whales than

the food supply can provide or about.might be disease that we but we are looking into all of those questions. >> scientists say the unprecedented amount of data they have collected from necropsies this year will help find an answer. but that may be years away. >> part of our effort to build a better bay area has focused on recycling and what everyone can do to protect our environment. in the north bay, one marin county woman wants to tackle growing stacks of delivery boxes. she's found a way to reuse them and is trying to get local jurisdictions on board. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian explains. >> reporter: this past february, carolyn came up with a plan to reuse all the amazon boxes she had piled up in her closets. >> have the delivery trucks pick them up on subsequent deliveries and return them to amazon warehouses for reuse. >> reporter: her idea has really caught on. on change.org, more than 4,000 people have signed her petition and another 500 have signed another one asking amazon to use

marin county as a testing ground for her plan. >> it's the number of boxes are escalating and we are all feeling pretty concerned when we're putting them into our trash, our recycling. >> reporter: having just one amazon box is no big deal. but when you have all of these and more on the way, your recycle bin is bound to get packed. just ask the owner of tiburon mail service. >> i have recycled amazon boxes i use here, and also in here. >> reporter: tim solomon gets 400 amazon deliveries a month here. he's already offering a reuse program to customers and the majority take him up on it. >> i can sell boxes all day long if i wanted to. but i don't think that's the right thing to do. >> reporter: the cities of lark spur and belvedere have given their support to lurnd. she's hoping to get tiburon's backing next. >> i do believe it's in line with tiburon's goals of reducing waste and our climate action goals. >> reporter: lunde wants whole foods to get involved. since it is owned by amazon, she

newborn was pulled from a plastic bag earlier this month. they believe the infant was only hours old when she was rescued. authorities are looking for her mother. they say it is a criminal investigation, but the mother may not be charged depending on the circumstances. >> new developments tonight. former special counsel robert mueller has agreed to testify next month about possible links between russia and president trump's 2016 campaign. mueller issued his report in april, but the former fbi director has hesitated to speak about his investigation beyond a few brief public comments last month. mueller's testimony will come as demps continue to weigh whether to move forward with impeachment proceedings against presidnt trump. >> a group of pg&e creditors have a plan to pull the utility out of bankruptcy and give it a new name. the proposal was filed in u.s. bankruptcy court. it includes the investment of $30 billion to get it out of bankruptcy protection and help pay wildfire claims without raising customer rates. pg&e has the exclusive right to

file its own reorganization plan by september, but those creditors want to get that right terminated and they plan to ask a judge about it next month. part of the plan also includes a name change from pacific gas & electric to golden state power light and gas company. by the way, the utility was named pacific gas & electric 114 years ago. >> a live look now at s.f.o. which is working on a new terminal named after late san francisco supervisor and gay rights activist harvey milk. >> the $2 billion project is almost finish now. >> abc7 news reporter vic lee got a look at the new facility. >> reporter: old photographs of the country's first openly gay elected politician line the expanse of the wall along the corridor. milk served on san francisco's board of supervisors for 11 months before he and mayor george moscone were assassinated in the fall of 1978. the photos cover the aftermath of the murders. not only the

together of a community to fight for its civil rights. the tribute to milk is a way airport travelers can learn about his legacy and what he meant to the bay area. >> the concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion, we're really trying to represnt that with these types of facilities, with this exhibit. >> reporter: this is the first of a multiple-phased public opening of the new terminal. phase one opens july 23rd with nine new gates. when the terminal is completed, it will add 16 new boarding gates to s.f.o. this will be state of the art with high ceilings and lots of natural light. in fact, the ceiling to floor smart windows automatically grow dark under the bright glare of the sun. the tinted windows return to normal when the sun goes down. it's also cost-effective. >> on average, 20% energy savings, although that varies. we have some buildings where the energy savings is as high as 30%. >> reporter: still the most

striking aspect of the new terminal is the artwork, this one of the city's skyline. fills an entire wall. >> you get a little bit of a taste of what the skyline can provide. that sublime experience of being in the bay area. >> reporter: the first portion of this terminal opens four weeks from today. and when it does, it will be the first terminal in this country and perhaps the world that's named after a member of the lgbtq community. vic lee, abc7 news. >> and san francisco's famed castro district now has a new distinction. the head of the city's big pride celebration on sunday and the weekend, the board of supervisors designated it a cultural district today which will allow for the city to pour more funding and resources into preserving the castro. a measure passed last november dedicated $3 million in funding forsan francisco's cultural districts. >> recently we shared a story with you about a man's generosity. >> he had extra space inside his piedmont home.

abseptemb absent. just a few wispy clouds made for a colorful sunset. as we head to tomorrow, the same types of breezes, the wind coming off the ocean that brought in the clear skies other than the high clouds. will be with us again tomorrow. that's going to help to knock those temperatures down. take a look here. west, southwest wind tomorrow afternoon and into the evening hours. so definitely keep an extra layer handy because you just may need it especially later in the day. here's live doppler 7. clouds are limited, just very patchy right along the san mateo coast line. that will be changing as we head towards tomorrow. let me show you what the reason for this is. there is an area of low pressure spinning off the pacific north west coast. that's going to deepen our marine layer. it's already started doing that. and it will also bring in a stronger sea breeze, so those temperatures will come down. right now the numbers are anywhere from the 50s to 70s out in brentwood. here's a live picture from our san jose camera. it's a beautiful view looking toward the shark tank. breezy cool pattern the next few days. temperatures below average during this time period, but it will be warming back up for

pride weekend. and no weather extremes are expected. tomorrow morning 8:00 a.m., you will have some low clouds right around the coast pushing over the bay as we head towards noontime. mix of low and high clouds, in the afternoon and evening they'll be sort of broken up as that trough passes to our north. tomorrow morning looking at numbers in the low to upper 50s. tomorrow afternoon it's going to be a different day. not the 80s and 90s inland we saw today. 78 in concord, 75 livermore, 76 san jose. low 70s around san mateo, richmond, san rafael. 75 in santa rosa. san francisco 65. 62 in half moon bay. and breezy. you can always download the accuweather app and track those temperatures any time you want. if you're going to the giants game, it's a day game, 12:45. they play against the rockies at oracle park. 62 degrees, mild and breezy coming up to about 65. accuweather seven-day forecast, cooler and below average next two days. those temperatures will come back up just in time for the weekend with low 60s to mid-'80s
