prominent in our forecast starting tomorrow keeping the cooling trend going. this is at 280 and 17. let's see how this breaks down this spring dv like day. mid to upper 50s this morning. near 70 under partly cloudy skies at noon. the cooler afternoon, look at that, 72 to 74. that's temperatures ten degrees cooler than average. we need jackets if we're heading out this evening, dropping into the -- here is alexis. we're certainly not complaining there there. i know chp is on the scene. we're starting to see the backup grow. 23 miles an hour through altamont pass. about 14 miles an hour near the enter change. we'll take a look at the drive

time in a few minutes and see if it's flipping over into the red. right now holding onto the yellow. the san mateo bridge, westbound 92 volume slowly filling in. overall we're off to a great start. a shooting at a ford dealership in the south bay. three people are dead including the shooter. abc 7's jobina fortson joins us in morgan hill with what we're learning this morning. >> reporter: natasha, police have not confirmed at this point if the shooting is the result of workplace violence. but some employees here at the ford dealership think it is. if you look behind me, you can see the crime tape up. still investigators on the scene. officers stay san jose around 6:00 last night, the morgan hill police department got multiple calls about the shooting at the ford dealership. officers got here within minutes. they found the suspect on the ground with a handgun in his hand. police found two other male victims inside the fort

dealership. >> from my understanding, one of the parks department employees, an older gentleman, was fired today and came back. this happened i think around 6:00, came back, shot two of the managers who would have been the individuals that fired him. >> reporter: that employee went on to say several people ran into the la kinta? to get away from the gunfire. police have not identified the victim of the suspect. live from morgan hill, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. >> in the south bay we're learning what may have led to the murder-suicide in san jose that left five people dead. according to "the mercury news," the gunman was upset that his wife's family got visas while his family was denied. the suspect is identified as chi ta.

his wife escaped and called 9 1 911. 23-year-old miles hall's mother and grandmother called 911. his family says hall was known to police and that's what his mother told the dispatcher. >> he's going to be aggressive to the police. >> five officers responded. police released their footage as well as video from a home security camera. officers say hall refused to drop the metal bar and kept running toward them even after being hit by bean bag rounds. two officers then fired their weapons. the family's attorney says the video shows hall was actually running alongside officers. >> the fact that he was trying to get away, you don't get to shoot somebody down who is running away unless that person has committed a deadly offense.

>> the hall family has already filed a wrongful death claim against police. their attorney says a federal civil rights lawsuit will also be filed. the wife of ghost ship defendant derick almena will return to the stand today for her second day of testimony. yesterday she admitted they didn't follow fire codes when renovating the warehouse. she said she often saw police officers, firefighters at the warehouse. she cried when a photo of her family was shown. >> very potent when a wife and mother speaks out on behalf of her husband and their mutual vision. very powerful. >> almena's attorney says allison and almena feel responsible for the fire which killed 36 people. almena could face 39 years in prison. san francisco became the first major u.s. city to ban the

sale of e-cigarettes. the board of supervisors gave the measure its second and final vote yesterday. the vote was on two mayor london breed has ten days to file the legislation. the law will go into effect next year. here is a look at our east bay inland neighborhoods. our temperatures in the tri-valley in the mid to upper 50s. we have low to mid 60s from concord out highway 4. very refreshing if not cool this morning. get the windows open. get in some of that fresh air while you can. 60 in oakland right now. we've got mid to upper 50s elsewhere. dress for 51 in santa rosa. here is a look at the golden gate bridge. you can see a few of the high clouds passing through. you don't see the low clouds. strong sunshine if you're out and about. today, tomorrow, our most comfortable days for yard work.

out on the bay, today not as breezy, no small craft advisory like yesterday. north bay in the 50s until 7:00. mid to upper 60s in 9:00 through the afternoon hours. i think between 1:00 and 3:00 we will spike in the low to mid 70s in a few neighborhoods. east bay looking at 50s at 7:00. look at this, mid 60s for the better part of the day with increasing sunshine. our last stop will be san francisco, in the 50s through 9:00. we'll have increasing sunshine and temperatures in the low 60s. as you near the coast, we'll have low clouds start to roll in during the evening hours. that will signal a change in the forecast coming up. i'll tell you about it. here is alexis with a look at the commute. looking good so far today. trying to figure out exactly what's going on on highway 24, westbound lanes in orinda before you get to caldecott tunnel. sounds like we may have a disabled vehicle blocking one lane. i believe the driver of that vehicle was able to get out safely and make it to the right shoulder. so that part is good. still trying to figure out what we're going to do with the

disabled vehicle though. orinda police are on the scene and they're going to run la traffic break from the stephens area. doesn't look like we have major delays through that stretch. bay bridge toll plaza continues to fill in. car pool lanes are open. no metering lights yet. that should happen in the next 10, 12 minutes. only abc 7 news dug into the story of a south san francisco family who lost all their savings, $10,000 in a home rental scam. >> we discovered the alameda county district attorney is investigating similar cases in the east bay. the number of cases is on the rise. in the last six months the office has received more than 50 real estate complaints. harvest property management found two of its listings posted by a fake landlord. someone fell for it and gave personal information. >> prospective tenants actually gave out all their personal information including social security numbers, pay stubs, all that kind of information. >> to avoid scams, make sure you're speaking with licensed

furniture. wayfair sent a letter of protest to company executives. the execs say they still plan to follow through with that order. part of our effort to build a better bay area focused on recycling. in the north bay one woman wants to tackle this problem, the growing stacks of boxes from delivery like amazon. she has found a way to reuse them and is now trying to get local leaders on board. abc 7 news reporter explains. >> this past february, carolyn munn came up with an idea to reuse the boxes. >> have the delivery trucks pick them up on subsequent deliveries and return to amazon warehouse for reuse. >> reporter: her idea caught on. more than 4,000 people signed her petition asking amazon to use marin county as a testing ground for her plan. it's the number of boxes are

escalating. weer ooh all feeling pretty concerned when we're putting them into our trash or recycling. >> having just one amazon box is no big deal. when you have all of these and more on the way, your recycle bin is bound to get packed. >> ask the owner of tiburon mail service. >> i have recycled amazon boxes i use here and also in here. >> reporter: tim solomon gets about 4,000 deliveries a month here. we's offering a reuse program. >> i can sell boxes all day long if i wanted to. i don't think that's the right thing to do. >> reporter: the cities of befl f dear -- >> i do believe this is in line with tiburon's goals of reducing waste and our climate action goals. >> reporter: she also wants whole foods to get involved. she hopes the company will put box recycle bins in store parking lots. she plans to approach amazon with her idea in the beginning

grgeous as it looks back from pier 15 towards the salesforce tower. we'll have below average temperatures this afternoon. clouds will return tonight. some drizzle is possible. a weak cold front rolls through. the weekend warming trend will get us back to average. look at the low clouds. they're well offshore this morning. as we head into the afternoon hours, you can see them lining up along the coast. as we head into the evening, they start pushing into the bay, signifying the cold front is moving through and another cool day is on the way for tomorrow. highs today and tomorrow pretty similar. that means low to mid 70s for most of the south bay. los gatos and morgan hill at 78 and 79. 68 to 73, narrow spread on the peninsula today. with the increasing clouds along the coast, low 60s. sausalito squeaks out at 67. the rest of the north bay, only 70 to 75 degrees. i feel like it should be march. here is a look at our highs

today along the east bayshore. upper 60s in richmond and berkeley. 70 to 72 elsewhere. inland, yep, saving money today. no need for the air conditioner. mid to upper 70s. as far as tonight's temperatures, in the 40s in places like san loma, petaluma, ukiah, lakeport. everybody else in the 50s. my accuweather seven-day forecast, expect more of the same tomorrow, more cloud cover in the morning. temperatures back to the 60s at the coast. low to mid 70s around the bay and mid 80s inland friday all the way through the weekend. we are off to a decent start this morning. nothing here from the bay bridge commute. slowly seeing the bay bridge toll plaza fill in. no metering lights yet. that should happen in the next few minutes. car pool lanes are open. don't have any new information, sounds like a disabled vehicle westbound 24 before the caldecott tunnel.

i saw a little yellow filling in. back in the green now. hopeful that means all lanes are back open. we are all clear, getting from the central valley to the tri-valley, westbound 580 before greenville road. we had a two-car crash on the shoulder. that's cleared from the board. stop and go traffic behind that. that's about it. authorities in georgia are trying to find the mother of a baby found crying inside a plastic bag. body camera video shows the moment she was rescued. we have a warning, because of the nature of this story, it may be hard to watch. >> look at you sweetheart. >> breathing and crying, try to comfort her. >> oh, that is just heartbreaking to see. officials believe the baby now named india was only hours old when she was rescued earlier this month. neighbors called 911 after hearing her crying in a secluded area. >> i wasn't sure if it was a bibby or not. when i pulled the stick over and

boulevard in the green at 16. 15 minutes northbound 85 between highway 1 and cupertino. developing overnight in afghanistan where two u.s. soldiers have been killed. >> a taliban spokesperson claims they died during an ambush in eastern wardak province. the pentagon has not yet confirmed that claim. nine service members have died in afghanistan so far this year. >> the deaths come just two days before the next round of talks between the taliban and the u.s. on to developing news, police investigating after a shooting at a morgan hill car dealership that left three men dead including the suspect. new in the last few minutes, a car was just towed from that scene. take a look at that video. abc 7's jobina fortson is at the dealership. >> this started after 6:00 on condit road and morgan hill just off highway 101. investigators say the suspect went to the ford dealership and then started firing. off sers arrived in a few

minutes after the police department received multiple calls. police have not said whether it was a workplace confrontation. however, one employee who was able to escape tells abc 7 news the suspect was a parts employee who had been fired earlier in the day. the witness says the suspect shot the two managers who fired the man. we sent out an alert about this shooting through our abc 7 news app. it's the only way to stay on top of the news as it happens. make sure to enable the push alert feature so you'll get updates. new developments on muni. two months after a train dragged a woman onto the tracks, muni says it's fixed its doors problem. >> abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live at the west portal station. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. it should be easier to get on and off the train starting this morning. it also should be a bit safer. muni did this to protect its passengers. it started because of some video. look what happened back in april. this video from the "san

francisco examiner" had such an impact. it is a little hard to watch. a woman is dragged after getting her hand caught in a closing door. after this happened, muni decided to lock the back doors of its two-car new trains. since then they've added sensors to those doors to detect if there is something or someone blocking the door. they had a total of three incidents since november of 2017 involving the back doors in which passengers got hurt. so they decided to make this change. they're hoping that it will keep everyone safe, so something for you to be aware of as you head out for your commute this morning. live in san francisco, amy 7ew has made a 7 news. commitment to building a better bay area. fair evasion is one of four big issues riders have along with

morning after supervisors agreed to move forward with a new homeless navigation center. the city had already approved the project on the embarcadero near bryant street. last night the board of supervisors rejected an appeal from a group of neighbors. supporters of the shelters say this is a classic case of not in my back yard. >> i don't think that this particular location is any better or worse than any other particular location. >> other navigation centers of much smaller size have required almost daily police and paramedic and fire services, and already in our area the police and fire department are stretched thin. >> opponents of the shelter wanted the city to require an environmental review before green lighting the project. now they plan to take legal action. the first of the 2020 democratic debates begins tonight. 20 candidates will take the stage over the next two days, all vying for the nation's attend the zach
