even though so many folks waited to finally hit their 90 degrees and really feel like summer. oh, it's going to feel like it. look at some of those humidities plus heat. tallahassee will feel like 107 by friday. >> be careful what you ask right, ginger? >> uh-huh. the latest on president trump back at the white house this morning after that historic meeting with north korean leader kim jong-un. he is now the first sitting u.s. president ever to set foot in north korean territory. our chief global affairs correspondent martha raddatz is tracking the very latest from washington. martha, this was certainly a first, but the big question this morning, how much did they actually accomplish? >> reporter: exactly, cecilia. it was indeed a first, a u.s. president walking into north korean territory but will it lead to de-nuclearization, which is what the u.s. says kim promised more than a year ago. it was an extraordinary visual as president trump took the final steps north toward the line separating north and south

whit. thousands are back on the street if hong kong. many have made it into the building. some have taken to vandalizing the emblem inside the chamber. this is the third major march against an extra business bill which would send those wanted by beijing over to the mainland. it's already been suspended, but activists want it gong entirely and they're calling for carrie lam to resign. the u.s. seeks to redefine its trade relationship and so far donald trump has yet to voice explicit support for the movement. given that today is the 22nd anniversary of britain's return of hong kong back to the chinese, it's not lost. many feel this is part of beijing's longtime efforts at dismantling the freedoms the british system was meant to enshrine. robin? >> quite a scene there, james. thank you. now to the investigation under way into that plane crash that killed ten people. the deadliest in texas in decades. the small plane crashing into an airport hangar just after

take off exploding into flames. marcus moore is there on the scene for us with the latest. good morning, marcus. >> reporter: robin, good morning. it's the start of a difficult day here in addison. you can see that scorched hangar in the distance behind me. this plane was carrying two crew members and eight passengers, and it had just taken off around 9:00 sunday morning when something went wrong. this morning, new video of that horrific plane crash outside of dallas. >> attention, all aircraft on the tower. everybody is sta >> reporter: ten people killed when their twin engine plane heading to florida crashed into an unoccupied hangar and burst into flames shortly after take off. >> we've noted that the airplane was damaged by impact forces and a post-impact fire. >> reporter: you can see thick, black smoke filling the air. firefighters quickly rushing to the scene to extinguish the blaze that engulfed the beechcraft be-350. >> you could tell there was some burning chemicals, gas or oil.

it definitely looked black enough for it to be serious. >> reporter: the outside and inside of the hangar charred. the roof torn off. officials have not released the names of those on board. >> our family assistance team is here to assist local responders with the families. >> reporter: this is the second twin engine beechcraft to crash this month. less than two weeks ago a different one crashed shortly after take off, in hawaii.hawai. that plane too bursting into flames. all 11 people on board were killed. an ntsb team is now on site in texas investigating this crash. according to the database, this incident is now the deadliest plane crash in texas in nearly 30 years. and we hope to learn more about the people on board this plane throughout the day today and you can still see that hangar just behind me. investigators say it could take two weeks to put together a preliminary report into what may have caused this tragic crash. cecelia? >> we are certainly thinking of them. marcus, thank you.

we will turn to the urgent manhunt for a texas man convicted of murder who went on the run the night before a jury found him guilty. officials say he cut off his ankle bracelet and vanished. linsey davis joins us now with the latest on the search. good morning, linsey. >> reporter: good morning to you, cecilia. so many questions about this case. not only where is rene carrillo but why was he out on bond during his murder trial and why was he able to cut off the very ankle bracelet intended to monitor his every move? a manhunt this morning as u.s. marshals try to track down this man, 25-year-old rene carrillo. authorities say he appeared in a texas court all week for his trial but then disappeared thursday before the last day where he was convicted in his absence. prosecutors later learned the night before his disappearance he cut off his ankle monitor similar to this and the company monitoring it was aware as of 11:00 p.m. the device was being tampered with, but the pursuit did not begin until the next day. >> his ankle monitor has been

cut off and destroyed on the side of the road in texas. >> reporter: even with him on the lam, the jury convicted and sentences him. many questioning why he wasn't in custody during his murder trial. according to the dallas county d.a.'s office in this surveillance video from october 2017 you can see him outside of a strip club walking up to the mercedes shooting and killing the driver and wounding the woman in the passenger seat. allegedly stemming from an argument his friend had inside the club with the victim. it took the jury only a matter of minutes to come back with a sentence of 99 years and a $10,000 fine. authorities say if caught, he will begin his life sentence and he now faces additional charges for fleeing and also skipping bail. but, again, i have to imagine there are a lot of questions for that monitoring company that noticed he was tampering with it at 11:00 p.m. and no one notified until the next day. or so it seems. >> and the bond as well. >> right. why was he out from the beginning? >> exactly. >> linsey, thank you. we want to turn to a warning about e. coli after a child died

and three others got sick. authorities suspect a petting zoo at a san diego county fair is to blame. abc's paula faris is here with that story. paula, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, whit. all four of those kids infected visited this particular petting zoo around the same time but the young boy, just 2 years old, he suffered a rare complication from e. coli. his kidneys eventually shutting down. this morning, an urgent investigation into a county fair after an e. coli outbreak infected three children and killed a young boy. 2-year-old jedidiah king cabezuela attended the san diego county fairgrounds and petting zoo on june 15th. his family says four days later he got sick, was in and out of the hospital and died after his kidneys failed on june 24th. >> he was bundled up in a little ball, can't even move and he was so -- he was hurting so much, he almost couldn't cry. >> reporter: officials closed the zoo. inspectors found e. coli inside the animal exhibit.

e.coli is a bacteria that could lead to stomach cramps and fever that in severe cases can be life-threatening. this morning they're still searching for its source. >> our hearts and our prayers and our thoughts go out to the family and while we emphasize safety at the fair, we will continue to do so. >> reporter: jedidiah's family says he washed his hands after interacting with the animals but still got sick and health officials say there is a possibility that even more people may have come in contact with the bacteria. >> unfortunately, when you do have livestock or animals, there is a potential inherent risk. >> reporter: a risk that for jedidiah's family ended in heartbreak. and the cdc has issued several reminders to protect yourself from e. coli. first wash with soap and water before and after contact with animals. don't wipe your hands on your clothes and when it comes to children, don't allow your children to put their fingers or

an object in the animal's mouth. but that's easier said than done. it's a petting zoo. you buy the food to give to the animals. there is a gofundme page set up for this boy's family, jedidiah king cabezuela. >> tragedy. >> i'm sure they could use the help. >> yes. >> paula, thank you. a frightening dock collapse in south carolina. 20 people falling into a creek when the boards gave way. three of them sent to the hospital. gio benitez is at a dock here in new york with the story. good morning, gio. >> reporter: hey, robin. good morning to you. the collapse happened on a wooden dock a lot like this one. you know what's really incredible despite the scare everyone survived. a picture perfect evening gone horribly wrong. >> receiving several calls for a part of a dock that caved in. >> reporter: 40 people were posing for pictures this weekend at a restaurant in south carolina, when suddenly the dock beneath their feet caved in, throwing 20 of them into the water below. >> first call said five or six people in the water. now we're getting calls of 20. >> at first it was just a moment

of shock like is this really happening right now? i had my arm around my girlfriend's shoulder and like i said, the next thing we hear is a giant crack and the dock collapsed under the weight of all of us. >> reporter: a nearby boat spotting the wreck helping pull people from the water. three people were taken to the hospital but everyone is okay. incidents like these have happened before like these unforgettable i dos, a bride and groom plunging in the water while their bridal party was taking photos. and in 2013, at one miami sports bar, this dock split in two. rescue crews scrambled to fish out dozens of survivors. so, look, experts tell us the biggest tip if you're on a wooden dock make sure you're extra watchful if you see a lot of people on it and take a glance down, look for any cracks and any missing screws or loose boards just to make sure. robin? >> good advice there. thank you, gio. all right, robin.

intestine is damaged. >> how serious can it be with someone with celiac to eat it accidentally? >> being expoesed to gluten in the long-term has been linked to an increased risk of cancer, increased risk of fracture, anemia or osteoporosis. >> hanna carries food wherever she goes. >> we went to a pizza place. they said it was celiac safe and i ended up throwing up, and just -- it was awful. >> reporter: eating out and traveling are the biggest challenges. >> reporter: to see for ourselves "gma" went undercover in an experiment guided by experts at columbia university celiac disease center and the blog gluten free watchdog. >> we're about to pick up the sixth pizza of the day. >> reporter: we ordered pizzas at 15 new york city restaurants and asked two questions. are pizzas, one, lately gluten free, and two, safe for with celiac disease?

to prevent cross contamination we keep them in their boxes and seal them in two ziploc bags before sending them overnight to a diagnostics lab. it cuts them in half, blends each part, then takes a sample to test for gluten. we showed the results to our expert. >> the findings are concerning. >> reporter: the food and drug administration which regulates glu gluten labeling on packaged food, defines gluten-free as containing less than 20 parts per million. two of the 15 pizzas came in with more than 20 parts per million above the standard to be considered gluten-free. what might happen to someone has celiac and ate those pizzas? >> they might not feel anything but if they were exposed to that and other similar gluten contaminated foods throughout the day and had this fairly regularly, then they would have intestinal damage including even cancer risk. >> reporter: four other pizzas had more than five parts per million, the limit of quantifiable detection but below the gluten-free threshold. we told the restaurants which

tested positive about our findings. one said they would not recommend their pizza for celiac patients despite your producers told it was safe. most of them thanked us for letting them know, said they have processes in place and would talk to their staff to prevent contamination. >> this is a hard disease to live with. if we knew that we could rely on the posted statements about gluten, it would be really helpful. helpful. >> now, there are portable gluten testers which experts have potential but limitations. for now they advise talking to the restaurant before you go and then again when you get there and they say be particularly careful with pizza and pasta. >> you can never be too safe. thanks so much. ginger. let's do a little "gma" moment. this one comes to us from harrisburg, pennsylvania. so you know when you've got little kids and this case it's twin boys and one of them is blaming the other one for, well, this.

summer skintervention series. as the fda plans to update regulations on sunscreen this fall according to some surveys this wasn't surprising to me. nearly half of us still do not understand what spf really means so we are going to dispel three of the biggest myths about sunscreen this morning. board certified dermatologist dr. whitney bowe is with us. good morning to you, friend. >> good morning. >> all right. ready to be put to work? you've got your paddles. bring them up. we are going to do a test. true or false, here we go, first one, spf offers twice as much protection as spf 50? what do you think? >> spf 100 -- >> 100 offers twice as much protection as spf 50. okay. mostly false. what do you say? >> so a plus, guys. very good. [ applause ] so it is false. so spf stands for sun protection factor and has to do with how long your skin can be exposed to the sun before it burns. in a laboratory setting spf 100

blocks 99% of uv rays and spf 50 blocks 98% of uvb rays so seems based on those numbers and curve over there, that there's barely a difference, right? but in real life, it can make a difference. take a look at my arm. so here, i applied sunscreen the way it's applied in those studies. a nice, thick coat, but this is how most people apply their skun scre -- sunscreen in real real reall those higher spfs they give you a little bit of a buffer, give you room for error. >> so you say opt for the higher one. >> i think err on the side. if you rub in sun the screen the way most people do. >> chemical versus mineral sunscreens. ready for another one? here we go. true or false, organic sunscreens are more gentle for sensitive? i have a got my poker face, not giving anything away. >> organic sunscreens -- >> it's like 50/50. what do you say?>>he answer hers sorecommend crneral ornoeen rye

skin. most people don't even know what organic means. let's take a look at this. our physical or mineral sunscreen, the inorganic ones contain zinc oxide and titanium die dioxide and reflect or scatter uv rays. these are the ones that can be difficult to rub in. these are the ones that you with that pasty white complexion. these ones act more like a sponge so they absorb uv rays and chemically transform them into heat and easy to rub in, right, but he can be a little irritating if your skin is sensitive. >> we'll do one more quickly here. last question, guys. a lot of people have concerns about this one. true or false, chemical sunscreens can be absorbed through the skin and enter the bloodstream. chemical sunscreens can be absorbed and enter the bloodstream. what do you say? >> these guys are smart over here.

the answer is true but let me give you guys a biby the fda, g.r.a.s.e., standing for generally recognized as safe and effective. the mineral sunscreens are considered grase because they barely get absorbed but chemicals do get absorbed under investigation by the fda but we still don't think they're unsafe. >> perfect time of year to be talking about this. you'll be answering questions on our facebook page. we will be right back. but into many different directions and goes to the right until it doesn't and maybe it does that again. >> sure. >> but it never just stays that way. >> you found that out and have been able to help so many other people find that out as well. girlboss, tell us about it. >> so, girlboss started with the book five years ago and i watched women waiting in line to get their book sign and when they were waiting to get their book signed they were exchanging business cards and there was no place for a woman on her way to do that and self-selecting ambitious women i saw congregating at the book signings and i related so as a young founder i had a lot of people around me, i had a lot of employees but i, you know, i didn't have the resources or the community to really find my p r peers and so girlboss today is creating a platform for women to do just that. where even if they're not entrepreneurs they're entrepreneurial and can share not just what they do but who they are in a world where we are not linked in monday through friday and instagram saturday and sunday. we're so much more than that.
