>> a 64 on thursday and a.1 on friday caused extensive damage. ridgecrest is about a six-hour drive from san francisco. >> today a closer look at the aftermath near the epicenter. here's meghan tavarua rischian. >> reporter: this is a community hit the hardest from the quakes. when you drive down the streets of the neighborhoods, you can see the devastation. for example, look at this mobile home over here. it has been completely destroyed. it caught fire after the 7.1 earthquake on friday and it's hard to see inside because it's so dark and charred by this fire. if you look outside, here you can see there's furniture displayed all over the yard and parts of the tree have been burned. we talked to the kern county fire department earlier today. they say that most of these fires started because of broken gas lines. >> quite a few houses were

liberty. they use it on the water and to help firefighters on land serving as a floating hydrant. the boat can put out up to 1500 gallons per minute. the boat is powered in such a way it gives firefighters better control. >> the latest abc news "washington post" poll shows the president with the highest job approval rating over the past two and a half years. even so, nearly two-thirds of those polled say the president has not acted presidential. abc news reporter rachel scott now with a closer look at some of the numbers. >> reporter: bolstered by a strong economy, president trump seeing the highest approval ratings of his presidency and the latest abc news "washington post" poll. 44% of americans approve of the job the president is doing. but still, 53% disdisapprove. an even greater number, 65% of those polled say the president has acted unpresidential. former vice president joe biden is the only one with a clear advantage over the president.

in the north bay, the government wants to dump 1.5 tons of rat poison pellets on the farallon islands. scientists say that's a good thing. it would help protect a rare bird. tens of thousands of mice call the islands home and biologists say they're damaging the native ecosystem. but the mice attract burrowing owls that not only feast on the rodents but they pray on the storm petrol, a rare bird with a ing population. the idea is to get rid of the mice which are attracting another predator. >> american canyon decided to

ban the use of roundup on city-owned land. residents and business eveners can still use the killer on their properties. it has been the subject of several lawsuits that claim it causes cancer. in may a livermore couple awarded $2 billion and last year a man won a lawsuit against the owner, monsanto. the company denied a link between the key ingredient in roundup guy foe say the and cancer. >> a judge rejected legal challenges to some san francisco tax measures. last year voters approved a tax on commercial rents which then drew a lawsuit from businesses and anti-tax groups. they argued it was invalid because it did not pass with a two-thirds majority and was a special tax. the same challenge was also made to proposition c approved last november. when it passed, it is designed to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for housing and homeless services. nike apparently t financial boost after taking colin kaepernick's suggestion to pull a new sneaker.

the mongolian heritage festival this afternoon. it was a family event to celebrate the arts and culture of the mongolian people without leaving bay area. there were lots of activities for kids as well as music and dancing celebrating the mon gol heritage. crowds of people came to enjoy the food at the annual festival. and all the proceeds go to the non-profit mongolian community association of the bay area. >> skiers and snowboarders got in the last runs at squaw valley and alpine meadows today. today, the 7th of july. closing day capps off a season that lasted nearly eight months. enthusiasts skied the three remaining lifts till the 2:00 p.m. cutoff time.
