tropical barry is taking its m uiacng a punch and it will likely get stronger before it makes landfall. this morning, the gulf is bracing for tropical storm barry bearing down and threatening to become a hurricane by the weekend, thousands now scrambling to sandbag and evacuate. >> we take three days of clothing because that's the routine. this area right here, we always got to evacuate. >> reporter: as much as 20 inches of rain on the way to parts of louisiana as the state is already battling unprecedented flooding. the mississippi river is higher than it's ever been with a storm this size approaching and a torrent of hurricane rainfall threatening to overtop the the 20-foot-high leveeevee protecting new orleans days after previous storms flooded the city streets and with many still weary from hurricane katrina. >> we're confident that we are not going to have a duplicate of katrina, however, if you have a

scene in new york city. see that taxicab there, it slammed into a restaurant. investigators say the cab driver was rear ended by another vehicle and plowed into the lunch hour crowd. at least eight people were hurt. five were taken to the hospital. neither driver was hurt. there was also no structural damage to the building. at least 37 people were injured when an air canada flight headed to australia hit severe turbulence. that flight was forced to make an emergency landing at an airport in honolulu. fortunately there were five doctors on the plane who started treating the injured. at least nine people suffered serious injuries. >> it was like a scene from a movie, like the worst possible scenario that you can think of where you see a plane about to crash. it was like that. it was just like people went whack, straight up in the air and then from there, masks came down. people screaming, kids crying. >> everyone injured on board is expected to make a full recovery. one passenger says she will

never ignore the seat belt sign again. google admits more than 1,000 private conversations on its assistant device were leaked to a european news outlet. google says contractors handed over the voice clips which are supposed to be anonymous. however, a belgium news site says it was able to identify the voices. google insists a small fraction of recordings are analyzed to improve voice recognition technology. earlier this year amazon admitted that contractors listened to audio clips from echo devices. amazon also insists the practice is done to improve its technology. wall street opens at a record high today after reaching a new milestone. the dow closed above 27,000 for the first time ever climbing 227 points. that's mostly due to new signs that the federal reserve will cut interest rates. the dow is up 16% for the year. satisfying that guacamole craving is getting a lot more expensive. a growing global demand and a

francisco this morning. >> another rally is scheduled at i.c.e. headquarters and that's where amy hollyfield joins us. >> reporter: this is the scene of many rallies. there will be a prayer vigil a francisco later this morning. here was the scene yesterday when hundreds of people gathered to protest the i.c.e. raids that are reportedly set to start this sunday in at least ten major cities, although there are reports that some arrests may have already started. state assemblyman david chu says the california legislature is doing everything possible to try and protect immigrant communities. >> son of immigrants is someone who represents a city that is a sanctuary city in a state that is a sanctuary state, we are always going to stand by our immigrant families. >> reporter: according to "the new york times," the round up would target 2,000 undocumented immigrants on dep lists.
