miles northeast of ridgecrest. the u.s. geological survey reports it could be lightly felt 150 miles south in los angeles. this map shows you today's after shocks. there have been thousands since last week's 6.4 and 7.1 quakes in the same area. the aftershocks are now dying down but are expected to continue for some time. two earthquakes today shook the puget sound region in washington. a magnitude 4.6 hit just before 3:00 a.m. 40 miles northeast of seattle. minutes later a 3.5 in the same area. usgs reports people in brush columbia could feel the shakes. a geophysicist says the northwest quakes have no connection to those in southern california. >> building a better bay area can sometimes mean ending a program that's not working the way it's supposed to. san mateo will stop its red light camera enforcement. an analysis showed the challenges of administering it the program may outweigh the

way to pay build fire victims. governor newsom signed is the bill this morning in sacramento that creates a $21 billion funded with about half the money coming from utility customers. there is a $2.50 fee in monthly bills that be extended another 15 years. it was supposed to expire in 2020. the governor says this legislation was long overdue. >> if you walked into fire season, with the legislature in recess and you came back after recess in august, maybe september, you get something done. who knows. october? most of the fire season. that's common sense that wasn't in the interests of the state. >> the four utilities can dip into the fund to pay clals and must spend at least $5 billion and various fire safety improvements. utility companies will also get annual safety serttications. paradise hit so hard but by last year's camp fire has lost over 90% of its population. a survey in april counted a little over 2,000 residents.

>> new orleans is a very different city in terms of hurricane preparedness than it was when katrina came through. with any luck, preparations will hold. we're tracking it closely. >> sandhya patel is taking a close look at tropical storm barry. >> it could intensify into a hurricane. look at live doppler 7. bands of moisture starting to move on shore over louisiana. the storm will strengthen. it is currently packing winds of 65 miles an hour. it is expected to become a lurk as it nears landfall. saturday morning around new iberia, to move overland weakening to a depression sunday afternoon. it's the tremendous amount of rain that is going to be the biggest threat. up to 25 inches in isolated spots. we are also talking about not only flooding from the rains but we're also going to have to deal with life-threatening storm surge. heavy rainfall into early next week. flash flooding and river flooding some of the biggest

concerns. hurricane force winds and tornadoes as that storm interacts with land. ama? >> thank you so much. firefighters in hawaii continue to battle an intense wildfire. this is on central maui. the fire sparked thursday morning and has burned nearly 10,000 acres so far. fire officials called it 20% contained this morning but added gusty winds and rising temperatures later today could exacerbate the situation. there are no reports of injuries at this point. the cause is still unknown. >> let's go to washington now. u.s. labor secretary alexander acosta announced today he's resigning following major backlash over his handling of a decade old case involving accused tex traffic erl jeffrey epstein, acosta then a u.s. attorney in florida brokered a lenient plea deal granting him immunity. federal prosecutors in new york recently filed similar charges against epstein put agkosta's role in the deal under new and intense scrutiny.

themselves. they had taylor swift in a concert earlier this week. they're going all over the place. >> so amazon is big and getting bigger. any sign of that stopping or is it continuing to take up more? >> it's hard to tell. there's going to be hearings on capitol hill next week to discuss anti-trust concerns at apple, amazon, facebook and google. partially because these companies are getting so large. so it's really hard to tell where amazon, the top is. but it's fascinating watching them continue to grow. >> and what should people buy or wait to buy? >> yeah. obviously amazon will give you the best deals on their own devices. they've got tablets they sell, the fire tablets. i picked up a couple myself for friends and for my son because i don't want to him to break an ipad. the other thing is that using those tools you're going to be able to figure out what is a good deal because for example, sometimes tvs are often not even a good deal on black friday.
