nation . >> i'm luz pena in san francisco. more women are booking tickets to spain, but not just for fun. they are freezing their eggs. >> the city's push to provide more parks for kids of all abilities. abc 7 news starts now. >> news to build a better bay area from abc 7. >> a desperate plea from a local women's shelter has been answered tonight. >> the serenity house this in oakland that provides services to women who are survivors of addiction, homelesness and incarceration after rent was raised 75%. >> they owe 75,000 in back rent by tomorrow and the community has risen to the challenge.

>> liz has more on the desperate efforts to raise the money. >> 5,190. >> hour by hour, donations are pouring in for a women's shelter in west oakland, facing eviction. they have to pay $14,000 in back rent. >> our rent had been $2,000 and went up to $3500. it's tough. >> serenity house is offering shelter to women for the past decade, but this hike was too much. they are four months behind on paying rent. >> after scrunching around, we just don't have it. we don't have it. >> valerie is a board member whose sister went through the program and turned to go fund me as an everyday to raise the funds. >> $14,000 is not a huge amount of money with all of the money that you see in the bay area. why is it so hard and such a struggle for us to pay the rent?
