us. how is it looking out there, mike? >> looking gray and getting grayer by the moment as the clouds are oozing through our neighborhoods thanks to a stout sea breeze. did you feel the difference yesterday? amazing, wasn't it. today the same thing temperature wise. starting off upper to mid-50s, and at noon, look at this, 60 to 70 degrees. that's it. then by 4:00 we are still 60 at the coast and 70 around the bay to 80, and that's well below average. by 7:00 we will start to see the low clouds roll back in as we are hanging around 60 at the coast, and upper 60s, so grab a coat if you are going to be out after 7:00 as temperatures drop rapidly once the sun sets. here's sue with a look at the commute. >> a nice commute on the east shore freeway as you make your way into the macarthur maze. intoic is flowing nicely here.n

toll plaza, metering lights were turned on at 5:08, so earlier this morning, and we had a stall by treasure island that was slowing things on the upper deck coming into san francisco. carpoolers are getting by without delay, so that's good news. if your travels take you from hercules, the upper portion of the 80 corridor, including the backup you are looking at here, a 35-minute drive time, so not too shabby. >> thank you, sue. sthaoeufp this morning we are hearing stories of bravery and survival for those that were involved in the gilroy shooting. >> reporter: it's a good idea, one central place where victims can come and get all sorts of help and they are creating it here at rucker elementary school here in gilroy, it will be a family assistance center and they can get services here such

as grief counseling and emotional support. they are really going to need that. se t had escribed a horrific been shot said they could not stop and had to keep going, and they described a supportive scene where strangers helped each other. >> i felt like a little stinging and i got grazed on my side, and i said, okay, i got grazed and i looked down and my whole leg was red, and i thought, oh, dang, i got hit in the leg and i rolled this ankle in the cement and i was on the ground and good samaritans helped me to get up to the top and a couple cops helped me out. >> reporter: amazing stories coming out of this tragedy. the family center will help victims file claims for medical bills and counseling bills and will offer counseling.

the district attorney setting up the center will open up at 9:00 this morning until 10:00, and it will be open until the end of the week, and then they will see if they will keep it open throughout next week. come here at 9:00 this morning if you need any kind of help. live in gilroy, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> thank you. hearts are heavy this morning for the three people who died in the gilroy shooting. >> the youngest victim is stephen romero of san jose. his mother and grandmother were also shot. >> a teenager from san jose also died, this is salazar. >> and also killed, 25-year-old trevor irby from new york. he was visiting gilroy with his girl friend who was not hurt in the shooting. his grandmother spoke about how much she would miss him. >> everybody was his friend.

>> america is about to lose its soul. we are here to try and make sure that we turn this litany of violence around. >> a grandchild of one of the parishioners was at the festival and ran for cover when the shooting started and thankfully that person was not hurt. >> the tragedy of the gilroy garlic festival talks about how difficult it is to secure large outdoor events. festival organizers used the best devices, installed tall fences and had coordination with multiple law enforcement agencies, but the shooter was still able to access that venue. industry practices will change and evolve because threats are constantly changing too. abc7 news has been tracking the latest developments in the shooting, and we sent an update on the news app just before

the 60s through 11:00. we will see sunshine and reach the low 70s this afternoon. we will never get rid of the clouds in san francisco. we're in the 50s through 11:00. low to mid-60s this afternoon. let's head back to sue and find out what is going on with the commute. good morning, everyone. we are looking at walnut creek. this is 680 and the heaviest traffic is coming at you on the screen there and it's looking pretty good. it's a little sluggish as you make your way towards the 24 interchange but traffic seems to be getting by okay. we will go over to the golden gate bridge where it's hazy there. you have four lanes in the south direction and two lanes in the north direction, and a 20-minute drive from san rafael to san francisco through marin county. otherwise a couple areas of slow and go. we'll take a look at your drive times. 580 westbound, just about one hour from tracy to dublin. you are slow and go from antioch into concord, about 25 minutes, and your drive time from san

rafael into san francisco, 17 minutes. antioch police arrested a father and son on disturbing charges on sexual abuse involving multiple children. the 64-year-old and his 31-year-old son provided foster care from 2011 to 2017. police say multiple children under their care were sexually victimized. they are accused of sexual abuse and sex with a minor and lewd acts on a child. concord police are searching for a suspect accused of shooting at homes and cars. the suspect may have been driving this dark green or black yukon. there are several reports of somebody firing a pellet gun in the area of north u. soccer is now responding to complaints that the women's team is paid less

is expanding on the lead, enjoying 34% support and that's up from 22%. kamala harris sits at 12% nationally and her recently released health care plan is drawing attention from democratic opponents. >> under medicare for all plan, there will be no more co-pays or deductibles. >> the biden camp says health care would unravel with that plan. but harris is leading the way in this new poll. 19% of voters responded they would back harris, and support for elizabeth pete buttigieg was the only other candidate to reach 5%.

new developments in the fight for equal pay. u.s. soccer says women's cup winners were paid more than the men's team. they paid the women's team $34.4 million, and the men's team received 26.4 milli$26.4 millioh they have a different pay structure. the women's team filed a federal lawsuit claiming gender discrimination. another big hotel group is ditching the mini shampoo and conditioner bottles in a bid to cut down on waste. they will replace the single use minis with the bulk sized pump dispensers at holiday inn, holiday express and intercontinental hotels. other hotel chains already vowed

apparently they cleared out of lanes but the damage is done. 580 and 205 very slow with about pn i dead after shooting at a walmart in mississippi. this is a live look at the walmart parking lot just south of memphis, tennessee. deputies say they have shot the suspect. now to the latest on the deadly shooting at the gilroy garlic festival. the community came together last night to remember the victims. >> we are learning new information about the suspected gunman. we still don't know what led to the 19-year-old suspect opening fire. authorities are investigating social media posts and are searching his car. we know the suspect legally purchased an ak-47 in nevada and brought it to california. this morning fbi agents will be in gilroy to talk to witnesses. three people were killed and 12 others were wounded. the three victims who died were all young, 6-year-old

stephen romero of san jose being remembered as happy and positive and always full of joy, and 13-year-o 13-year-old keyla salazar was also from san jose, and she spent the morning doing chores to convince her parents to buy her a puppy, and the third victim was trevor >> survivors and the community is vowing to remain strong and not give into fear. jobina fortson is live with how the victims are being remembered. >> reporter: there was a huge support for the grieving community. the man that organized the vigil thought he would see 20 or 30 people show up, but there were close to 1,000 that showed up here. three young lives were lost,

rutger elementary school, one place where victims can come and get a range of services like grief counseling. it's going to be open all week and it seems like a great idea for them to have one place where they are going to be able to go to get help. they are certainly going to need it after the traumatic experience they had sunday at the festival as many people were running for their lives, and just experiencing that fear as a 19-year-old open fire with an ak 47 type of gun. witnesses say it looked like he was just randomly shooting. >> it was like a military-grade guy coming to do damage. he had a bullet proof vest and a green hat and glasses, and he looked like he was going and ready to do damage. >> reporter: police shot and killed that gunman.

several agencies are now coming together to help the victims. the district attorney's office and the red cross are opening this center. they have pulled together resources to help victims with things such as filing claims for medical and counseling bills, and also offering referrals and grief counseling. it's going to open at 9:00 this morning, and will be open until 10:00 each night. it will be here at rutger elementary, and it will be open all week and on friday they will assess the need and decide whether they need to stay open into next week. available here starting at 9:00 for anybody that needs some help. reporting live from gilroy, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. still unanswered question in the gilroy attack, why? what motivated the gunman to target the gilroy garlic festival. he grew up in gilroy and was the grandson of a two-term santa clara county supervisor. the suspect had been living with family members in nevada.

that's where he legally bought the weapon used sunday evening. he would have been barred from buying that weapon in california. officers collected evidence from the gunman's home in gilroy where he grew up and investigators focused on a parked car that could be the gunman's car found three miles away, and from sky 7 you will see a robot alongside the vehicle. investigators were making sure there was not a bomb or explosives inside. sheriff deputies helped in the search. neighbors could not believe the attacker came so close to their homes. >> it makes you mad and sad that it's right there. i mean, it's -- you know, he's right there. he parked right there and walked right in. >> atf agents went door to door interviewing residents and looking for surveillance video and they want to know if the shooter was alone when he drove up and parked his car. >> some witnesses told abc news they thought they saw a second gunman or accomplice.

the weapon used was a variant of an ak-47. the owner of the store where the suspect bought the weapon posted on facebook, quote, i did not kow this individual. he ordered the rifle off my internet page. when i did see him, he was acting happy and showed no reasons for concern. in the hours before the gilroy attack he is believed to have posted a message on instagram that says, quote, read "might is right." a chapman university sociology processor said the book is popular with far right groups. >> it has long been a staple with the white supremacy movement. it's a much larger set of propaganda literature that folks that identify with the whi supremacist ideology.

>> one of the victims who was wounded in the attack is a 12-year-old girl. she was jumping in a bounce house when that gunfire began and her family's quick action may have saved her life. >> translator: when he was reloading his rifle i ran towards my niece and grabbed her and ran with her, and then we were all running. >> governor newsom met with the child in the hospital bed yesterday. he met with all four victims still being cared for at the medical center. governor newsom said that visit left him at a loss for words. >> nothing i can say can change what has happened. i don't know what i can possibly say to make you feel better except god bless you and i'm sorry. >> newsom said he spoke with the grandmother of the stephen romero. we are posting updates at

looking north towards a little fog trying to develop around petaluma. it's something we will keep an eye on. mass transit, cool this morning and warm this afternoon when you head back home and gusty breezes on the bay everywhere today, just like yesterday. peninsula, we're stuck in the clouds until 9:00, a little more sunshine but still in the 60s through 11:00 and then low to mid-70s with mostly sunny conditions this afternoon. a delightful 68 at 7:00. south bay, we will see the sunshine quicker and still will be hanging around the 60s through 11:00 and mid to upper 70s this afternoon. east bay valleys, look at this. 67 degrees, partly cloudy at 9:00 and low to mid-80s with sunshine this afternoon. you can open up the windows and let the air into the house. it has been a hot one inland, but not for the next couple days but it's coming back and i will show you when that happens. today. >> traffic is moving nicely this morning. >> like to hear that. >> a couple problem spots as

always, and it seemsticu more typical than not with the backup at the richmond and san rafael bridge. we checked and it's about a mile and a half backup to get to the toll plaza, so you are looking at about a 21-minute delay westbound on 580 approaching the richmond san rafael toll. slow and go, and once you get about one-third of the way across your speeds get back up to normal headed into san rafael. motorcycle down west of 580, and no word on injuries of the rider, but we have a backup in tracy on 205 and on 580 at the merge there. here's a look at some of your drive times from highway 4 through the bay bridge. you are looking at about a 40-minute drive or so so we're in the yellow here. once you get into san francisco, a nice drive into the airport if that's where your destination is.

arguments yesterday. t they listed for the jury nine crimes the prosecution has proven beyond a reasonable doubt, and that's failing to get permits and installing sprinklers and alarms. the case could possibly go to the jury in the next few days. the public policy institute of california surveyed 1,700 people earlier this month, and 71% of californians say they are very concerned about wildfires getting worse because of global warming. the bay area worries more about wildfires than other parts of the state, 75% of us say that we are very concerned. this week pg&e's inspecting power lines to reduce the risk of wildfires. crews are flying helicopters to get a better look at the lines from above. and then a hacker got her hands on data, a seattle software engineer was arrested

in connection with the breach. 80,000 bank account numbers were comprised. investigators say they tracked down paige thompson because she allegedly posted the stolen info to a site using her own name and e-mail address. her roommate doesn't think she wanted to hurt anybody. >> paige just wanted to see if she could. >> capital one said it will notify customers whose information may have been breached and will offer free credit monitoring and id theft protection. and behind scams could be military relocations, because it forces people to make quicker
