as far as fog, we have some developing around santa rosa, f ve our reporting nal stations. it's definitely out there. highs today, a few degrees shy bors. >> not too many problems on the roads at this point. i'll take you out and show you live shots. this is emeryville. it's looking good as you make your way westbound off the carquinez bridge all the way to the bay bridge toll plaza. there's a stall but it's off to the right-hand shoulder. here is a live shot of 680 in walnut creek. southbound traffic moving past geary and treat. this is a hot spot yesterday morning. you can see right now it's great. no problems all the way down highway 24 to the bay bridge. in fact, traffic is pretty light right now as well as you make

your way through 580 in the altamont pass. westbound 580 from tracy to dublin is only 24 minutes. it's delay free on southbound 680 through the dublin grade and northbound 85 fine through the south bay. no problems at all in san jose. thanks, frances. developing news in san francisco's mission diwo m with life-threatening injuries. >> officers responded to a report of the shooting in a parking lot on mission street near cesar chavez before 10:30 la arrests are made. investigators are at the scene looking for possible witnesses and surveillance video and, of course, gathering evidence. today we should learn much more about sunday's gilroy garlic festival. >> there will be a press conference at 4:00 p.m. to give us an update. santa clara medical steph is planning an update including two shooting victims.

tonight a candlelight vigil is planned at 7:00 p.m. a loner shrouded in mystery. that's how the gunman is described. agents are combing through the shooter's emails and social media. it's rumored he was a white supreme sift. the fbi says it appears the 19-year-old read literature from the left and the right. investigators are still trying to figure out a motive. the gilroy foundation established a special fund for victims of sunday's shooting. we have a link on our website on how to donate to the fund. santa clara county supervisor daefr cortez si says he's received a confidential memo detailing aloeeth f magement andanta clara eur that fair and time fairgrounds are located on tully road in san jose. te fair runs through

sonoma county there are also upgraded security measure when that fair opens today. visitors will have to go through a metal detector. every truck that enters the fairgrounds has to pass inspection. the fair spending $150,000 on security in 11 days. that includes a contract with santa rosa police. the fair runs through august 11th. the jury in the ghost ship trial begins their second day of deliberations. yesterday the jurors wanted to know if the words tenant and leaseholder are interchangeable and asked for the legal definition of augt ratithorized. we will send out updates on the trial through our abc 7 news app. you can customize the app so you'll get an alert when the jury reaches a verdict. in the east bay the contra costa county sheriff's office investigating vandalism from a

emergency shooult ute to deploy. >> you only want to see that on a bouncy house. san ramon, dublin. close to upper 50s to low 60s in these neighborhoods. we have temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s down both sides of the bayshore into the south bay. we've got a rosa 54 as you led through the north bay. you also have that fog. here is a look from south beach. it doesn't look like it right here. when i came across the bridge, it was a little thicker, the cloud kofrmt i had to use the windshield wipers quite frequently. that means it's going to be moist in some of our mass transit stations this morning. it's breezy again, especially north of the bay bridge. the east bay pretty much cloudy through 7:00. we'll start to see breaks in the clouds around 10:00. hang out in the low to mid 70s with about full-on sunshine this afternoon. for the north bay, the clouds

the closer you are to 101. partly cloudy by 9:00. by the afternoon hours looking at sunshine and highs nearing the upper 70s to near 80. for san francisco, a lot more cloud cover than yesterday. of course, we have the drizzle this morning that will hang around through possibly 10:00, maybe 11:00 near the coast. highs today in the low t one day closer to the weekend, not impressively hot. i'll show you the numbers. let's check in with frances. >> i had to use my wipers as wellho u the golden gate bridge. it's looking good as you can see across the span. they just cleared the road work right now. they haven't done the lane configuration change yet for the morning smut. bay bridge toll plaza is backed up for some of the cash pay lanes. metering lights aren't on yet. here is the ride across the san mateo bridge. that's westbound traffic on the ride there heading out of hayward, moving well towards san mateo and no problems on the

san francisco teen accused of stabbing to death an italian police officer walked by cameras in rome. family attorney craig peters spoke to us exclusively. >> they're looking forward to seeing their son. this is actually where they spent their honeymoon. they have a great love for italy and feel devastated that this happened here. >> reporter: peters is also dismissing this photo posted to finn's instagram attack that aired on italian television that shows him in san francisco before his trip holding a knife that appears to be the same style as the murder weapon. >> the kid has a knife. at least in san francisco and mafr ka, that's not a super surprising thing. people carry it for protection. about leaks. as for the other defendant i tried to reach gabe natale's grandfather. no one came to the door. his lawyer says the suspect has

jet in death valley is still missing this morning. search and rescue crews scoured the park overnight. a spokesman says seven people on the ground suffered minor injuries. death valley has a popular lookout spot where people can watch military planes performing low flying maneuvers. the jet was based out of the naval station in the central valley. the cause of the crash is under investigation. happening today, governor newsom and former governor arnold schwarzenegger will highlight the state's increased investment in firefighting technology. they're meeting at mcclellan air force base. the governor signed an executive order boosting cal fire staffing. the state is hiring nearly 40 fights and adding 13n record. more than 100 people died, and flames burned nearly 2 million acres of land. a

over yesterday and warmed us up. the low is sinking down and ushering in a stronger sea breeze and cooler air mass for today. they're really battling it out. then we have the heat this weekend. 78 in milpitas. 80 in san jose. 87 in morgan hill, the warm spot. head up the peninsula, pretty much in the mid to upper 70s. millbrae is cooler as usual. low to mid 60s along the coast with mid to upper 60s in downtown, south san francisco and sausalito. much breezier than yesterday. north bay, low to mid 80s through most of your neighborhoods. breezy north of the bay bridge. low to mid 70s berkeley and northward. as you head into the east bay valleys, 83 to 88 degrees. let's see what the weekend has in store for us. 90 tomorrow to 80. low to mid 60s at the coast. mid 80s to mid 90s. saturday and sunday look to be our warmest days. a slow tapering next week.

hi frances. >> good morning north 101 at 7. as you make your way into the city, traffic flowing well, no problems in either direction. here is a live shot in the south bay. headlights move northbound on 101. that's 880 across your screen right there. nice and quiet in the south bay and also the peninsula. we've got lots of green on the traffic maps. the only bit of slowing we're finding right now is heading out of tracy to the altamont pass. not bad but there are heavy spots where you're moving at 20 miles per hour, 19 miles per hour as you make your way into livermore. westbound 580 tracy to dublin, 30 minutes. even westbound 4 out of antioch to concord, an easy 14-minute ride. ck up poible gotten fda e to approval for the color additive

mart and lucky supermarkets are planning to strike. this is according to the "san francisco examiner." representatives say a deal to increase wages. a tentative deal was reached but pulled the agreement offa a c a involved in a recall of all pig ear pet treats which made more than 100 people sick with salmonella. the agencies recommend if you have any pig ear treats from any company or any brand, throw it out. even though the treats are made for dogs, 127 people have gotten sick in 33 states including california. pets can get sick and pass the illness on to humans, even if the animal isn't showing any symptoms. a southern california neighborhood is on edge after a ploun tan lion was caught on a security camera hanging out in the back yard of a house. it was first spotted monday night in tarzana. the homeowner says this big cat

wandered around for at least an hour. not far away from that home a family says their dog disappeared sunday night. track the conservancy. the tracking isn't in realtime so they can't pinpoint the animal's exact location. >> a beautiful animal, mike. but i don't want it near me. >> that's okay. i'd like to see it somewhere else. let's talk about erick's impacts. flash flood watch for the big island, about 94,000 people until noon on saturday. watch out for rapidly changing conditions because of the rain. there's going to be more in the higher elevations. tropical storm warnings mean gusty winds through saturday. dangerous surf through 6:00 this evening. the storm is going to slide south. it's still about 230 miles away from the big island, but watch as it goes from a category one now down to a tropical storm and just keeps moving to the south and west and moving away.
