they don't know when they expect lanes to reopen. right now it is causing minor delays in the east bay direction. westbound traffic looking good for most commuters heading out of hayward. seeing a lot of brake lights on 880 in both directions due to road work that should be cleared by about 6:00 this morning. >> thank you, frances. this morning two countries are warning their citizens not to travel here to the u.s. because of violence and hate crimes here. >> of course, that includes the recent mass shootings in gilroy, el paso and dayton. >> today president trump will visit both dayton and el paso. dayton's police chief revealed the dayton gunman was obsessed with violent deaths. the fbi is opening a domestic terrorism investigation into the gilroy garlic festival shooting. the two countries that sent out specific warnings about visiting the u.s. are venezuela and uruguay. liz kreutz is at sfo with an

update. >> reporter: venezuela has one of the highest murder rates in the world. but they're one of the countries issuing this warning. the governments of venezuela and uruguay warned their citizens against traveling to the u.s. i want to show you the warning from the venezuelan government. they urged people to postpone trips, citing indiscriminate hate crimes and blame those in power in washington for fueling the incidents. they advised citizens who do travel here to avoid crowded areas like malls and festivals. both countries also criticized the widespread possession of firearms here in the u.s. the warning from venezuela specifically cites certain cities to avoid including oakla oakland, warning about the high crime rate. venezuela itself has been the focus of multiple u.s. state department travel warnings. two days ago the state

department raised the travel advisory from level one to level two because of high crime there. live at sfo, liz kreutz, abc 7 news. thousands in times square panicked last night. a motorcycle backfired and it caused a lot of people to think there was a shooter. the nypd tweeted the times square area is very safe. >> how indicative of the time we live. east bay congressman eric swalwell will hear your concerns about gun violence. >> so many people calling for gun reform. that's why swalwell is hosting a town hall meeting at hayward city hall. he says he will talk about what congress and law enforcement agencies are doing to end gun violence. tonight's event starts at 6:30. the fbi is now investigating the gilroy shooting as an act of

domestic terrorism. three people were killed, more than a dozen hurt at that festival last month. one of those survivors who is 12 years old is sharing her story. leslie andres was with her family. leslie noticed something. >> i was like, what was that. i touched myself and there was blood on my hand. so then i told my cousin, i got shot. >> he was at the festival with at least 20 of her family members. she was the only one who was injured. governor gavin newsom visited her in the hospital. communities across the bay area joined forces with police for a national night out. last night's events took on special meaning in light of the violence in gilroy, dayton and el paso. san pablo park in berkeley, they reflected of the recent string of mass shootings. >> we just have to stay together and unite as on llage.

73 to 83, no 90s, you better believe it. i'll tell you how long it lasts coming up. mike, we had so many problems this morning, a couple sig alerts, lots of slowdowns. i'll tell you about the major one in hayward, eastbound at clawiter. minor slowing approaching the scene. traffic jammed in oakland on northbound and southbound 880 due to road work that should be cleared by 6:00. also a crash in the backup. and southbound 242 jammed approaching 680 because of an earlier brush fire reported that's visible from the freeway. we have more problems to talk about which i'll continue in my next report. on to developing news in east bay. a man is wanted for stabbing two people in the downtown berkeley b.a.r.t. station. thank goodness both are expected to be okay. the man got away. let's get to abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live at the b.a.r.t. station. >> reporter: hi, natasha. it happened on this escalator.

the two victims were riding up the escalator. it was 12:50 in the morning yesterday when they were stabbed. police say their attacker got away. he left the scene on a bicycle. we talked to a man who works in the area. he says this downtown berkeley station is surrounded by issues that need addressing. >> with the homeless situation we've got out here, i'm not surprised, but we need more security. i can say that, because when we're out here -- i try to make sure the people is safe, the public, but we need more security. i don't know what we can do about that really. >> reporter: investigators say the victims are a 36-year-old woman and 27-year-old man. they were traveling together. they were taken to the hospital. they are expected to be okay. live in berkeley, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. exclusive security video

obtained by cnn shows the dayton gun nan a bar hours before the shooting. you can see him enter a bar with what appears to be his sister megan and a friend identified as charles beard. the vest and mask he wore during the shooting are not visible. police say there's nothing to indicate his sister or beard knew he had weapons. his sister is among the nine killed in the shooting. president trump and first lady melania are set to leave for el paso in less than an hour. he will meet with leaders to talk about his plans to curb gun violence in the u.s. abc news reporter megan tevrizian is live in el paso. >> reporter: good morning, reggie and natasha. as the city of el paso continues to mourn and the memorial grows, many people in this largely hispanic and democratic city are wary of the president's visit. the investigation is on into what led two suspected shooters to kill at least 31 people in two mass kearse.

the fbi now saying there is evidence 24-year-old connor betts and suspected dayton shooter was exploring violent ideologies. >> the shooter very specifically seeking out information that promotes violence. >> reporter: his ex-girlfriend saying they spoke openly about mental illness and suicide. he showed her video of a mass shooting on their first date. >> he was interested in what makes terrible people do terrible things. >> reporter: the betts family releasing a statement tuesday evening. >> they offer their most heartfelt prayers and condolences. >> reporter: in el paso authorities say 21-year-old patrick crusius is showing no remorse after police say he killed 22 people. >> he appears to be in a state of shock and confusion. >> reporter: crusius is charged with capital murder. federal authorities say there could be more charges coming. his family issuing a statement saying, quote, patrick's actions were apparently influenced and

informed by people we do not know and from ideas and beliefs we do not accept or condone. he was raised in a family that taught love, kindness, respect and tolerance, rejecting all forms of racism, prejudice, hatred and violence. authorities saying he targeted mexicans in particular. the community of el paso staying strong. >> the tragic events of saturday will not define us. >> reporter: reggie, as you mentioned, the president will be going today ton soon, going today ton first and then coming here to el paso. in both cities his visits are getting mixed reaction. in el paso the mayor is welcoming the president. the county commission recently said the president's visit is like putting salt on a gaping wound. reporting live from el paso, megan tevrizian, abc 7 ahea paso the president is mocking beto o'rourke's hispanic nickname, tweeting last night, beto o'rourke who was

embarrassed by my last visit to the great state of texas where i trounced him should respect the victims and law enforcement and be quiet. o'rourke responded saying 22 people are dead in my hometown after an act of tear tear tear your racism. the family of the gilroy shooting is apologizing. his family says they're deeply shocked and horrified by his actions. they say it is, quote, impossible to reconcile this with the son we thought we knew. they released a statement soon after the fbi said they were opening a domestic terrorism investigation into the shooting. fbi agents say the shooter had a number of targets including courthouses and political groups affiliated with both democrats andy they still believe the gunman was motivated by hate. in the east bay jurors begin their fourth day of deliberations in the ghost ship

traffic is getting by. you'll notice for traffic moving towards the top of your screen, that's westbound 92 heading out of hayward towards the san mateo bridge, just a minor delay at the cash paying lanes. this is a sig alert. we'll keep you posted on that. where you will find delays is the bay bridge toll plaza with metering lights on, it's backed up past the 880 overcrossing. uber and lyft may be causing more traffic congestion in san francisco than we previously thought. the ride share companies conducted their own study. they say uber and lyft drivers account for about 13% of all miles driven on an average day in the city. a previous study by the city's transportation authority said 6%. that was done in 2016. opening three 24-hour public bathrooms to try to keep human waste off the street. good news for hawaii. the remnants of flossie moving away rapidly at about 14 miles per hour. all watches, warnings and advisories dropped. they're going to get some seasonal weather for the next several days. giants wrapping up the three-game set with the nationals at oracle. breezy and mostly sunny this afternoon. starting at 60 at 12:45 and warm to 63 degrees. grab the sunscreen and it will feel 10 to 15 degrees warmer than that in the sunshine. our temperatures will be below average today, also as we head towards tomorrow and friday and saturday. so we've got a stretch of about four days of a reprieve from heat. notice the lack of 90s. 90s and possibly triple digits coming in next week. we'll talk about that in the next forecast. here is frances.
