you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. mike, a lot of people not sleeping well. >> glad to present it. let's take a look at the visibility. half moon bay has four miles of visibility but their ceiling is about 300 feet. they're reporting some mist. so the southerly surge of marine layer and clouds, it's on the peninsula and it's going to hit mainly the peninsula coast today and a little bit of the bay. notice the temperatures in the coast in the 60s. still in the 80s and 90s away from that at noon. 80s and 90s at 4:00. it's not going to be as hot. no records today. by 7:00 we're still in the 70s and 80s. you'll notice the biggest change tomorrow. first, let's say good morning to sue. good morning everyone. it's friday. we have problem spots on the road if you're making your way from tracy towards the 580 split on 205. about five miles east of that there's a fatal accident.

emergency crews are on the scene. they're advising to take grant line until they get that clearment once you're past, you have the usual slow and go over at the altamont pass. we have this on cramp that was shut down, tennison on-ramp to northbound 880. so that's great. we'll take a look at this, not really slowing past the area, blocking two lanes of traffic in milpitas north 680 near montague. >> we're tracking developing news in marin county where pg&e says power is back on after a huge outage. it left about 54,000 customers without electricity. the lights were out for a couple hours overnight. crews rushed to put up stop signs all over the county at intersections for drivers. the outage map shows the areas impacted during the peak of the outage including larkspur. starting tonight a b.a.r.t. track closure will mean delays

for a lot of you even if you don't step foot on the train. >> abc 7's amy hollyfield explains. >> reporter: this is a huge heads-up for all lafayette residents, not just those who ride on b.a.r.t. on the weekends. yes, this does impact b.a.r.t. riders a lot. this is going to be a big one. they're going to be shutting down the lafayette b.a.r.t. station this weekend. they're going to bus bridge people between walnut creek and orinda stations. this also impacts highway 24. officials will shut down two east bay lanes this weekend so they can make room for a big crane. so traffic through lafayette will be rough this weekend. this is also so b.a.r.t. can do upgrade work. they will be replacing 50-year-old track. >> with the approval of measure rr a couple years ago, 2016, it provides $3.5 billion to rebuild the system. already more than 30 rr projects are either complete or in the construction process.

this is one of the larger ones. >> reporter: officials say expect 40-minute delays through here on b.a.r.t. this weekend because you'll be on the bus bridge if you have to get through lafayette. estimated 30-minute delay on east bay 24. this is not the only weekend. they're going to do this six different weekends in the next two months. so be aware that this is coming and starting this weekend. live in lafayette, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. new this morning, san bruno police investigating this crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. the department tweeted out this video of the collision near see biscuit aftvenue. the pedestrian was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. redfin offices in the bay area are closed after police say a fired employee made a veiled threat about guns.

abc 7 news reporter kate larsen spoke to police and employees. >> an anonymous source told abc 7's i-team that a fellow redfin employee told a manager this is why people bring shot guns to work, after that person got fired. redfin is a real estate and brokerage company. police say the fired employee who made the alleged threat worked out of the dublin office. a statement says in part, a redfin contractor made concerning comments over the phone. we tookd swift action and worked closely with law enforcement to ensure our bay area employees were safe. we closed four bay area offices. they will not describe who the former employee is and refuse to communicate the threat to the extended workforce. this is just another example of their poor corporate practices putting dollars over the health and safety of their workforce. it's frightening. while three east bay offices remain closed, the san francisco

office reopened wednesday. on thursday employees leaving the office say they were aware of the threat. >> i'm not too concerned, not too frightened. people get upset all the time. >> reporter: jason is a software engineer. he says because of the incident there was a security guard on their office floor this week as well as counselors. >> i feel safe, especially with security guards and all the attention, caring that our management have given us. >> reporter: pleasanton pd say they've spoke tone the fired and employee and they said they checked and don't believe he has any access to weapons. they say at this point no criminal charges have been filed, but that the investigation is on going. meanwhile, redfin says they will open their east bay offices early next week with additional security measures. in san francisco, kate larsen, abc 7 news. it is 5:06, ntsb investigators will be in tennessee examining the wreckage from the plane crash involving dale earnhardt jr. and his

family. he was in his private plane with his wife, young daughter and two pilots when it skidded off the runway and burst into flames. he was the only person that had to go to the hospital. he had some cuts and scrapes, but has been released. earnhardt retired from full-time racing in 2017 and now works as a tv commentator. one of the two congresswomen denied entry into israel has been granted access on humanitarian grounds. israel says congresswoman rashida tlaib will be able to visit her grandmother. yesterday president trump defended israel's decision to ban the congresswomen after he pressured the country to do it. >> they said some of the worst things i've ever heard said about israel. how can israel say, oh, welcome. >> earlier president trump tweeted israel would be showing, quote, great weakness if it allowed the congresswomen to visit. a san francisco park named after a 1900s era congressman

who passed racist laws is closer to getting a new playground. julius kahn could soon be called presidio playground. the city parks and rec commission gets the final say. city supervisors decided last year to rename that park. democratic presidential candidate marianne williamson is on the campaign trail, heading to scotts valley after a stop in san francisco last night. williamson spoke to a packed house at manny's in the mission district. williamson is an author and political activist who is focused her campaign on social justice. her platform includes increased funding for early childhood development and reparations for slavery. she believes americans are ready to switch to her brand of what she calls moral politics. >> issue after issue after issue, if you look at the polls, where american people stand is

the golden gate bridge, west-northwest wind about 14 miles per hour. no cloud cover yet. we've still got dangerous air today. the heat is going to moderate. but it's not going to go completely away until this weekend. guess what? we rebound to above average warmth, near 100. clouds as far north as point reyes, that's about where it will stop. it will keep most of the north bay coast, at least sonoma county coast 90 to 97 in the south bay. on the innocence today, low to upper 80s, quite a spread. upper 60s to near 70 along the coast. mid 70s downtown, south san francisco and sausalito. about 90 to 96 through most of the north bay. cloverdale and ukiah triple digits once again. 80 in richmond, 83 in oakland. warm spot is fremont at 88.

towards your golden gate bridge. it looks like we've got the zipper truck in effect there to get your lanes changed, two in the northbound, four in the southbound direction for your morning commute. clear and smooth coming into san francisco. no delays here. overall our traffic maps are pretty light. it's mostly green out there. enjoy the friday light. the power back on for thousands of people in the north bay. >> you'll see on our pg&e outage map what this looked like overnight. at one point, more than 50,000 customers affected by the outage. abc 7 news reporter jobina fortson is live in sausalito. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, reggie and natasha. 54,000 pg&e customers were without power as of 12:30 last night. that's a major bump up from the 20,000 customers the outage map showed about an hour earlier. the power was out for about threht there added a little extra aesthetic to the bar as people continued

to play pool and drink until the power came back on. >> it instantly went out. there was no indication, nothing at all. >> reporter: crews rushed to put out stop signs at intersections all over marin county. sausalito, larkspur and other areas affected by the outage. with a large outage like this, police remind you to not call 911 unless you have an emergency. in sausalito, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. in the south bay firefighters are on the scene of a wildfire to make sure it doesn't reignite. it broke out along santa teresa boulevard. flames approached about a dozen homes. the fire spread to 60 acres before crews got it under control. one firefighter needed medical treatment because of heat-related problems. on the peninsula, a man is accused of trying to kidnap an 11-year-old girl. police say a man approached a girl as she was walking down palm avenue in south san

francisco yesterday morning. investigators say he grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth. thank goodness, a passerby saw what was happening and intervened. police tracked down 37-year-old christopher cole at a nearby adult care home and arrested him. the san francisco police officers association is weighing in on an attack of a woman that shocked the community. >> a man repeatedly grabbing a woman and pulling her to the ground as she was trying to enter her condo building over the weekend. a judge saw the video but still decided to release james austin vincent into a pretrial diverse program meaning he'll be as signed a case manager and can stay out of jail until his court date. the police officers association is calling for the judge to be reassigned to traffic court. the organization says judge christine van aken's decision puts the public at risk. they say she should not be allowed to preside over criminal cases. she may have been a reasonably

competent civil attorney but she is a catastrophe of a criminal judge. governor newsom spoke briefly about the incident during a stop in san francisco yesterday. >> people sometimes think they're flippantly dealt with and not seriously dealt with and people are back out on the streets, potentially can commit the crime again. >> governor newsom called for more resources to combat these kinds of incidents. vincent is sked yultd to return for a pretrial hearing on september 12th. a all parties hope he'll show up. following the mass shootings in gilroy, el paso and dayton, local law enforcement is encouraging everyone to be prepared for the worst. last night in fairfield a capacity crowd came out to learn what to do in an active shooter situation. it was a preplanned event but more important in light of recent events. >> that's why i'm here. they all left a remarkable impact, just unpleasantness. so many lives were disrupted. >> the odds it won't happen. but if it does, they'll have some background and hopefully something will click and, i

remember that, that's what i'm going to do. >> this weekend's tomato and vine festival will draw 25,000 people to fairfield. extra patrols will be out. not what dropbox employees expected. an e scooter caught fire in the company's headquarters in san francisco. the company told sf gate firefighters quickly put out the fire and nobody got hurt. dropbox is moving to a new location in wigs bay next week. employees were previously asked to move their be long innings on wednesday. the fire delayed the process. b.a.r.t. plans to hire 15 more cleaners as part of the general manager's plan to improve customer experience. >> b.a.r.t. says they'll be hired over the next six months. it tweeted out video showing the work being put in. they use power washers and steam cleaners on the platforms, stairs and concourses. b.a.r.t. posted the new cleaning job on its website. the pay, just over $27 per hour. bartd will no longer sell paper

tickets inside the embarcadero station on monday. you'll only be able to buy clipper cards at ticket vending machines. b.a.r.t. has already stopped slg paper tickets at 19th street in oakland. you can use a paper ticket to ride b.a.r.t. work to replace all the joints on the richmond-san rafael bridge is finally done. chunks of concrete fell into traffic lanes in february. one hit a car but nobody got hurt. the joints on the lower deck will be replaced next year as part of an $85 million makeover project. the state okayed $20 million for the work yesterday. caltrans plans to repaint the lower deck and towers to protect the steel. a second company applied for a permit to operate delivery robots in san francisco. according to "the chronicle," marble wants to start testing the autonomous bots. last week we told you postmates has received a permit to start testing its bots, but only with

here is a look at san jose. 70 degrees. this is 280 at 17. this is an area that could have potentially poor air quality later today. right now our air quality is good to moderate. we more than have the amount of people under heat advisory, watches and warns across the state. now it's about 5 million. well over 100.

palm springs at 114. clouds in monterey at 74. mid 80s to mid 90s through the high country. that will continue saturday. look at that, back nearly to average, 80 with mostly sunny conditions sunday. >> thanks, mike. in the east bay jury deliberations in the ghost ship trial will continue into another week. jurors asked for a readback of testimony from a prosecution witness. one of the residents testified that the need for fire springers came up at house meetings but they just didn't have the $50,000 to install them. officers confiscated 82 weapons so far this year in the east bay. they include handguns, rifles and assault style weapons. this season fans going to cal football games will be able to buy beer and wine inside memorial stadium. eight stands will be open inside the stadium. fans will need to get a wrist band to prove they're over 21. alcohol will not be allowed in the student section or in the

expressway. we have a stalled out big rig that's been out there since 4:00 this morning on the two right lanes blocked there. slow traffic approaching. the fda is making another attempt to add graphic images to packs of cigarettes to discourage americans from lighting up. you may find some of the images disturbing. the fda is looking at 13 different package warnings including images of cancerous tumors and diseased lunges. a court barred a similar effort by the fda in 2012, ruling couldn't force cigarette makers to carry grisly images. if you came across these beat-up old nikes, would you throw them away or sell them? dave russell said they were given to him at the 1972 olympic trials in eugene oregon. they're called moon shoes, only 12 of them were made. the shoes are entirely handmade.
