>> they contai racist and anti-immigrant content. abc news reporter is live with the story. >> good morning. the flyers have been taken down so students should not see them today on their first day of class. the president of san jose state unersity said in a blog post that the flyers were racist and anti-immigrant. the president says they were posted at other colleges across the country as well. in the blog, the president said, "our community will not tolerate bigotry, hatred, discrimination, and other forms of social violence against individuals or groups on the basis of their race, ethnicity, immigrant status, religion or other identities." she freedom of speech. this denounces white nationalist hate groups. she did not say specifically what the flyers said.

only that they are gone. reporting live in san jose, abc 7 news. new developments in southern california. video surfaces of students giving nazi salutes and engaging in other behavior that people find offensive. you're looking at video taken in garden grove. the latest video emerged after a different clip showed water pole owe players engaging in similar acts last year. parents just learned about what happened and they expressed their outrage during a school board meeting last night. >> we are completely blindsided and we feel outraged. >> you failed miserably. >> we're sorry that our investigation and our transparency with the pacifica community fell drastically short. >> one of the videos was recorded three years ago and it's unclear if it includes any current students. developing news in the trial. today is the last day of deliberations before jurors take a break until after labor day.

we're learning why the judge dismissed three jurors from the ghost ship trial. yesterday the judge eluded to misconduct involving a possible text message with a media link of some kind. jurors were told not to interact with each other or use the internet to look up the case. the judge says that she could criminally sanction two of the jurors for contempt of court. and then the third juror was dismissed because she knew of the illicit communication and didn't report it. >> it seems unlikely that the county is going to start prosecuting jurors. but this certainly puts a serious crimp in the >> the trial may be in jeopardy because one alternative juror remains. they may start with a new jury. can you get the latest news about the ghost ship trial sent to your smart phone or tablet. download the abc 7 news app and enable push alerts for the

updates. harvey weinstein's attorney requesting that the former hollywood producer's trial be moved out of new york his legal team says it makes it impossible for him to get a fair trial. they say that his name haas has been mentioned online by page 6, "the new york post" gossip column more than 11,000 times. the largest visa fraud case in california involves three defendants including a bay area businessman. prosecutors say the san francisco regional center or sfrc exploited the eb 5 visa program. the program gives green cards to investors who contribute $500,000 to a u.s. business that creates at least ten full time jobs. the owner of sfrc, thomas henderson, is accused of lying to investors in china, yanindiad vietnam. he used investor's money to buy

communities. one way in which the scheme is being hidden is the diversion of money raised from later investors to cover over the losses that were being suffered by earlier investors. >> henderson pleaded not guilty yesterday. a third defendant lives in china and hasn't been arrested. >> someone broke into a popular store through sherman's warf in san francisco and cleaned out a case of replica guns. abc 7 news was at the international spy shop on beach street. an employee says the alarm went off yesterday morning. the burglars stole replica ars, pistols, and grenade launchers. no word yet on any arrest. >> all right. let's take a look at what is going on weatherwise. and what we're dealing with is activity planner there. i want to talk about that for a

all. and as we take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, a minor wait for some of the cash paying lanes. looking great right now into san francisco. >> thank you. happening today, you're going to see more police officers near campuses in the oakland unified school district. police say they will conduct a back to school traffic enforcement campaign near schools. it is happening around 7:30 this morning and again at 1:00 p.m. it's encourage drivers to slow down and be extra aware of students on the road. >> in the south bay, students are taenlding an elementary school in mountain view that has no power. it is relying on a diesel powered generator. >> no one is sure when the permanent power will be installed. >> the power shuts off every evening at 6:00 p.m. the new school is relying on a generator. over the summer, construction crews of the school try to install a utility box on

noticeably different today. few clouds tonight. it's going to be much milder tonight. in the extended, at least around the bay, it will be warmer than average every day. we have a few clods along the east bay shoreline. a few on the peninsula. partly cloudy conditions along the coast to start the morning hours. loo bei look at how we clear up quickly. still clouds clinging there. and that will be a main stay along the coast. the rest of us will be dealing with sunshine and breezy conditions. and there you can see a few high clouds starting to roll in making for a gorgeous sunset. all right. our stretch in the south bay from 82 and 86 at san jose. morgan hill, 91. santa cruz, 79 and sunshine. 85 in redwood city. so a little tighter temperature range there. then we'll have mid up to upper 60s along the coast. near 70 across the north bay

the world. >> completion is expected by 2023. we told but cat cafe in oakland and maybe you heard of like owl cafes in japan. well now there is a raccoon cafe in ukraine. we're told they can get up to 30 minutes for people to snuggle up to the furrey creatures. the owner said he got the raccoons when they were babies at a farm. he said he studied the animals and talked with vets before bringing those raccoons into his cafe. i would hope so. visitors say not everyone has access to raccoons at home. like, no one. anyway. so it's nice to pet one in a cafe. i love looking at raccoons. i think mico the kraccoon is a underrated character in disney. >> i don't trust them. >> here's the thing, you can open a cafe like this very easily in san francisco.

side. really no major problems on bay area freeways at this point. we've got a pretty nice ride around the bay area. southbound 680 walnut creek to dublin, 13 minutes. its also green. southbound 101 to san francisco. 51 minutes. >> all right. thank you so much. incredible story of survival this morning after a plane went down in the pacific off half moon bay. >> you can see on the map exactly where that plane crashed. the two people onboard are fine. they were even laughing about the situation as they were recording themselves being rescued. abc 7 news reporter is here with some amazing video. good morning. >> good morning. there are so many lawyers to this situation. this started as an air-to-air photo shoot. did it not turn out as planned. but then the pilot recorded the whole rescue process. 34-year-old david lesh and his friend were flying in his brand new beechcraft bonanza when it lost all power. he couldn't get the engine back

up and running. overhead, lesh's friend was pie the loing the lead plane and watched as the beechcraft hit the water. he first called lesh and then air traffic control. he reported the moment he and cayla climbed on the wing. they were seen laughing in the video and then could be seen bobbing in the ocean once the plane sank. >> we're going to go fly over the golden gate bridge and do the whole bay tour. didn't make it there. >> what is amazing is there was another aircraft on scene that quickly responded, contacted air traffic control. they knew to contact an airborne coast guard asset and get us on scene quickly. >> the coast guard is calling the entire rescue process a meeshg this will morning. miracle this morning. i agree. >> thank you. we had dramatic video of a shooting on a crowded market street in san francisco. take a look at your screen in a moment. you're going to see a man start to fire as he runs down the

sidewalk. >> hard to believe this happened. it was 5:30 yesterday afternoon. you can see the chaos, people running for safety. one man was hit. his injuries are not life threatening and he is not cooperating with investigators. a single gunshot was heard seconds before the burst of gunfire. they reported seeing the person firing the shot standing in the middle of the street. he is still at large this morning. >> a new subway station will honor long time powerbroker rose pak following a heated debate. pak died in 2016. she pushed for years to get the central subway built. last night people waited for hours to speak to the board. their opinions reflected how polarizing a figure she remains. >> any time she wants to get things done, she doesn't ask us. she just goes and does it on her own. if she doesn't like what you're doing, she'll just ram it down your throat or threaten you or bully you or demean you or extort you or terrorize you.

landlord margaret tam declined an interview after speaking with her attorney. we want to hear your ideas about building a better bay area where you live. share them by joining our better bay area group on facebook. the suspect in a viral video of an attack outside a san francisco condo building is in jayne jail this morning. austin james vince enlt appeared in court yesterday. that was related to a separate case. he's accused of attacking a woman and her friends as they waited for a ride share in soma. that incident happened in february. the judge released vincent last week in the doucondo attack. the new allegations led her to change her mind and keep him in jail. the oakland fire department contained a fuel spill from a boat that sank in the oakland estuary. they tweeted out the photos. they placed 300 feet of boom around that sunken yesterday. fish and wildlife were contacted

millions of americans are bracing for severe weather. one of yesterday's tornadoes demolished several buildings in iowa near des moines. drivers dealt with flooded streets. now this same weather system is moving east towards the great lakes and the northeast. and powerful storms could hit as far east as vermont.
