lesh rolled video while waiting for help. that fits the profile of a well-known professional skier and social media figure from denver with a reputation for provocative stunts and promoting his clothing condition. >> i was sick and tired of riding for companies that made ugly overpriced outerwear. so i took my money and made the best outerwear on planet. >> reporter: along comes what happened yesterday and the inevitable questions. >> our videos are edgy. if you think i crashed my brand-new airplane into the pacific as a publicity stunt, you need your head examined. >> reporter: lesh says he had his own theory. he filled up at reid-hill view airport. says the fuel was not as clean as it should have been. >> the ntsb is looking into the fuel in the truck and tanks at that airport. >> reporter: we may never know exactly. >> there she goes. >> reporter: that plane is in deep water now, essentially

field near the airport. it's long west jack london boulevard. the pilot was the only person on board the plane and rushed to the hospital alert and talking. the single engine cessna had serious damage as you take a look at it there. it leaked fuel which the fire department was able to contain. >> developing news in the south bay. firefighters investigating eight, yes, eight grass fires that broke out this afternoon. right now a suspect has been detained for possibly starting all of them on purpose. firings first got calls about these fires around 2:45 this afternoon near rem lard court in san jose not far from highway 280. the fires are all out now though crews are keeping an eye out for hot spots. >>. >> developing news in southern california. police say a mother counseled her two daughters and tried to take her own life. the father discovered them yesterday in a garage in ontario east of los angeles. they were 4 months old and 14

years old. their mother was unresponsive and taken to the hospital. police believe she will survive. >> the mother has been unresponsive since she's been to the hospital. but she's listed or at least has been considered in stable condition. i don't believe we'll be dealing with a loss of life. her ability to comprehend is undetermined. >> the cause of the death has not yet been determined on those two children. police say a suicide note was left by the mother. there's a certainly going on everyone had discovery bay for a womb loe has been missing since last night. 53 cheerleadching ping chin's husband flagged down a deputy last night to say had he not seen his wife since she went outside to water their plants two hours prior. the couple's home is on beaver lane. sky 7 flew over it this afternoon and saw a search boat docked behind the house. officials say chen was last seen wearing a light green tank top,

green sports and pink sandals. >> caught on camera but not caught by police. police are still searching for gunman who opened fire on busy market street yesterday. news reporter jobina fortson showed the video to police today and has their reaction. >> wow. >> that's the reaction they had to this video after we showed it to them wednesday morning. shots were fired on market street around 5:30 tuesday inciting chaos and fear and the gunman is still out there. >> had you seen this video. >> on your broadcast. and if anybody with surveillance video like that is encouraged to hand that over and to the police for our investigation. >> reporter: police say one person was assaulted by the gunman. it's not clear if they knew each other or what led up to the gunfire. >> how do you respond to the concerned people? ot only in san francisco but the

san lorenzo valley middle school. look at a sketch of his face. she describes him as a transient looking man, very tall, about 6'4" and skinny. >> it is back to school for students at san jose state university today, but with an old problem resurfacing. signs of ilton rans. school officials discovered and removed racist and anti-immigrant flyers from campus. amy holyfield has the details. >> reporter: it's the first day of classes as san jose state university talking about white nationalist propaganda posts on campus is now some students envisioned starting it the school year. >> it's not in character with what i know about the scol. this is my first day so i can't make a comment about my opinion about how it represents the school because i haven't been here. >> reporter: university president mary papazian wrote the flyers were taken down because they violated the

campus's time, place and manner regulations. she went on to say, "our community will not tolerate bigotry, hatred, discrimination and other forms of social violence against individuals or groups on the basis of their race, ethnicity, immigrant status, religion, or other identities." students we talked to applauded that response. >> i'm glad that my school doesn't tolerate anything liking that. >> reporter: some students say they now feel a little nervous knowing people liking that were on on campus. >> it's pretty surprising. i feel a little more unsafe now. i mean, my friends go here. i feel like they've been here for a while and i should be fine too. >> reporter: the students say they have never seen activity from a white marshallist group on this campus and think it will stay that way. >> since i've been here, it's been very friendly. i don't think i would have any idea about who would post stuff like that about other people on campus. so no, i have no idea.

it's shocking. >> reporter: a campus spokesperson said the flyers said the name of a white nationalist group. no statement no, call to action. but they still found them very upsetting. the spokesperson declined to name the group saying she did not want to give them publicity. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> oakland police had a visible presence at more than a dozen schools today to make sure students and drivers are basically safe. this is the weekend week of school in oakland. officers set up outside 18 schools this morning and this mpb as part of a traffic enforcement campaign. police want to remind everyone to slow down in those school zones. >> it is a vacation nightmare. some bay area residents out thousands of dollars for vacations never booked. the investigation now under way. no phones. a ban on phones at one bay area high school stirring it up a lot of interest. the company behind the technology that shuts off the phones. >> the instagram hoax, did you fall for it? if so, you were not alone.

temperature readings right now anywhere from 7 to about 16 degrees warmer or higher in most bay area locations and this time yesterday. the warmup is certainly under way. this is the view from our roof top camera across the breezy embarcadero. it's 73 degrees here in san francisco. oakland 78. mid 80s at redwood city and san jose. 68 at half moon bay. the skies mainly blue over the goldengate gate, as well. santa rosa at 96 right now. napa 85, 92 petaluma. livermore in the low 90s. here's a view looking toward mount diablo. we're going to see a lot of sky like this over the next week or so maybe with fewer clouds in it. forecast futures limited areas of fog develop overnight with a few hugh high clouds, as well. the warming trend continues tomorrow. hot days inland coming our way into next week. look at this alignment of

systems on the satellite radar composite system. this is the controlling factor and will be in our weather for a while. here comes this advancing frontal system up in the pacific northwest. triggering some showers. this system will, this front will deal a glancing blow to the ridge of high pressure which may bring our warming temperatures down a couple degrees on friday, maybe even into saturday. the heat will bounce back as soon as at front goes inland. high pressure will be in control and will bring us this warmup that lasts about a week or so. over night lows mainly in the low to mid 60s. it's going to be quite mild, maybe even uncomfortably mild in many locations overnight despite some low clouds at the coast. our day planner for tomorrow, lingering high and low clouds early tomorrow morning, becoming sunnier by midday and hot inland by late afternoon. highs tomorrow ranging from 70 the an half moon bail to some low and mid 80s around the bay

shoreline. and mainly low to mid-90s inland. then on friday, not much difference. low to mid-90s inland. still even as that frontal system i shows you deals a glancing blow to the ridge of high pressure. on saturday the same picture as friday. mid-90s inland, still pretty hot. notice on sunday how temperatures rise to upper 90s inland to almost 100. again, once that frontal system moves inland, that ridge of high pressure will be continue to bring hot conditions into the bay area especially inland. the accuweather seven-day forecast looks like sunday will probably be the warmest day. they're all going to feel pretty warm. mid to upper 90s the rule inland for about the next seven days. low to mid 80s around the bay shoreline and upper 60s to near 70 on the coast. extended period of very warm weather. happy sleeping. > an update that i got while you were doing the weather, i'm being told the correct answer on that is whatever she wants.

now news to build a better bay area. from abc7. >> out thousands of dollars for vacations that were never booked. some bay area residents want their money back from a hawaiian travel counsellor. >> at least one local police department is now investigating and says it will refer the case

over to the santa clara county district attorney's this week. melanie woodrow has the story. >> reporter: that travel counselor is wendi wong, in e mails wong says her business has been family and friend refer based for years. now some of they are clients are sorry they ever met her. sunny veil resident nicole brown and her boyfriend are having a fabulous time in hawaii now but say their dream vacation almost didn't happen. >> it was devastating. >> reporter: she hired wen dil wong in hawaii to help her book the trip. wong came recommended by a family friend. >> i ended up being in contact with her around the end of may. solidifying all of the dates around june 8 and around june 14th was the day i paid her. >> reporter: shortly before the trip, brown checked her flight and hotel bookings and discovered neither existed. >> don't know how somebody has the heart and soul to do this. >> reporter: now out $2,650 had

to get together the money and rebook her vacation. wong describes herself as a virtual travel counselor. the police department has received 13 reports from residents who say they paid her but she didn't actually book their trips. >> our job is to protect the community regardless of if this is a person crime, a theft of your personal property or theft of money for a planned vacation or some type of event with your loved ones that you had hoped on taking. >> reporter: wong emailed me saying clients have received information on the refund process. she writes, "my business was family and friend referral based only for the last three years and we were doing fine until this mess." but she said nothing about what happened. several clients from northern california to southern california tell me wong owes them houses. so-cal resident dina landed in florida last month when wong messaged her to give her a call. >> she said my entire trip got canceled when had i -- when i

switched my flight and that i basically had to rebuy everything over again and she said she would refund me and never did. >> reporter: she said wong hearse her $7,000 and her sister $3,500. >> i hung up in shock and texted her back saying you need to fix this. >> reporter: wong says in her e mail to me "she was in the middle of this as we were trying to figure everything out." wong says clients from the end of zwrun on have been ached but provides no explanation as to why. "i'm still here doing all i can to fix this," she writes. she says "half the people have received their funds back via disputes or in the process to receive." also in florida, this woman had no choice to pay for a new hotel room and new disney passes. >> what should have been magical was like tears. what she's doing is not right. >> reporter: the police department will refer the case to the santa clara county d.a.'s

two, years sooner than they previously expected. the first time it exceeded the $1 trillion mark since 2012 as the economy was recovering from the financial crisis. experts blame the increase on the 2017 republican tax cuts, increased federal spending as well as an aiming population that is boosting the cost of social programs like medicare. >> it appears last month's interest cut by the federal reserve did not come too easily. according to the minutes of the fed's july meeting, officials were widely divided when they decided to cut rates for the first time in a decade. some wanted it bigger, others insisted the fed should not cut rates at all. in the end they cut short-tirnl interest rates by 25 basis points. >> president trump had more to say over his decision to postpone his trip to deny narc because the prime minister rejected his idea to buy greenland. the president was scheduled to go next month as part of a european tour. yesterday he tweeted he would postpone the visit and reschedule. it follows the danish prime
