investigation into thefts totally $10 million. romome cases the suspects schemes friendship or relationships on line and convincing them to send money. >> in some cases the victims in this case thought they were communicating with u.s. servicemen stationed overseas. when in fact, they were e mailing with conmen. some of the victims in this case lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in this way. >> reporter: investigators say the scammers also targeted businesses. >> these scammers used hacked e mail accounts to defense businesses or individuals to make payments that were either completely bogus or that should have been otherwise paid to legitimate companies. >>. >> reporter: the fbi says many of the 0 suspects in this scheme are nigerian nationals some based abroad and could face extradition. more than a dozen arrested were here in the u.sow

as well. >> you want to be safe and make sure you are sustainable and hanning the environment well and communities well. the best way is to ask a lot of questions. so when you book a trip or planning a trip, ask questions of your guide how do they manage the environment, how are they handling any trash you might have, do they have with local communities. >> how is this changing the face of tourism and travel? >> tourism and travel are changing with adventure travel because more people are trying to be active on their trips. in the past we had people who were happy enough to go and view and now we see more people wanting to engage with destinations. and so destinations tour operate ares, guides are having to sort out how to manage the higher level of interaction. >> if you're doing this for the first time, do you want to seek out maybe a mild adventure or go big right off the bat? >> it's whatever you're feeling. a lot of people you know pushing their boundaries is a die hike. other people pushing boundaries
