in southern california, a brush fire near los angeles forced evacuations for a time. the flames broke out yesterday afternoon near glendale. the smoke surrounded the busy 134 highway and could be seen from miles away. helicopter crews dropped water on the flames to try to get the fire under control. no injuries have been reported. president trump holds a news conference this morning in france before leaving the g7 summit. >> there seems to be some disagreement at the summit about how macron's meeting with a top official from iran came about. a french source says the official was invited in an attempt to ease tensions over iran's nuclear program. president trump says he didn't sign off on any message being delivered to iran and an official said the white house wasn't aware of the invitation in advance. >> the president also seemed to make a surprising admission yesterday when he was asked about his trade policy toward china. >> any second thoughts? >> yeah, sure, why not? might as well. might as well. >> do you have second thoughts

about escalating -- >> i have second thoughts about everything. we're getting along very well with china right now. we're talking. i think they want to make a deal much more than i do. >> hours later the president's press secretary issued a statement saying trump's answer was greatly misinterpreted. she said trump answered in the affirmative because he regrets not raising tariffs higher. >> and the g7 leaders have agreed to help brazil fight the raging fires in the amazon rainforest. it will include both technical and financial assistance. thousands of brazilians are not satisfied with their government's response. next the battle over a resource that's been used by people in immigration detention for years. it was shut down after being featured on "orange is the new black." >> the national immigration detention hotline has offered free confidential legal assistance to detainees since 2013, but it was silenced by i.c.e. less than two weeks after being mentioned on the netflix series. abc's rachel scott reports.

>> reporter: it was a scenario immigration advocates hoped would only play out on screen. >> you have to be careful, though, okay? apparently if they figure out that you're using the hotline, big brother shuts it down. >> reporter: that free hotline for detained immigrants depicted in the latest season of "orange is the new black" is real. >> i found this group online. it's called freedom for immigrants. >> reporter: freedom for immigrants say after that episode aired it was silenced. >> since our involvement in "orange is the new black" i.c.e. has completely shut down our hotline. >> reporter: producers and the actors of the show demanding the hotline be restored. in a statement i.c.e. said organizations found to be violating the rules may be removed, adding, detainees can still call the group directly. an i.c.e. official telling abc news the group was taken off for three-way calling and call forwarding, which are strictly prohibited. that group saying if that four-digit hotline is not restored, they'll see i.c.e. in court.

rachel scott, abc news, washington. >> our thanks to rachel in washington. former congressman joe walsh is challenging president trump for the republican presidential nomination. while announcing his candidacy on abc's "this week," walsh called trump erratic, cruel, incompetent, and nuts. walsh was part of the republican tea party wave that swept into congress in 2010 but he lost his seat two years later. his entry got a one-word response from the trump campaign saying, "whatever." disgraced movie mogul harvey weinstein is due in court today for arraignment on a new indictment. it has not been made public. prosecutors say it involves actress annabella sciorra. she has accused weinstein of sexual assault. a rulingue. prosecutors oppose moving the sexual assault trial out of new york city. four florida nursing home employees are facing charges in the deaths of 12 patients during hurricane irma.

employees of the rehabilitation center hollywood hills are expected to surrender to police today. the nursing home's administrator and the duty nurse are facing 12 counts of manslaughter. two other nurses are facing less serious charges. the deaths were ruled heat-related homicides because the storm caused a power outage leaving patients with little or no air conditioning. officials are investigating what may be the first-ever crime committed in space. amid a bitter divorce and custody battle, decorated nasa astronaut anne mcclain is accused by her estranged wife, summer warden, of illegally accessing her bank account from a nasa computer while aboard the international space station. >> it's just another method that she uses to basically stalk me, spy on me, know my every move, and tries to use that against me in the court. >> mcclain responded in a tweet saying, quote, there is unequivocally no truth to these claims. the two are in a dispute over parental control of warden's 6-year-old son whom she had
