they're on their way to the scene as well as people from the involved persons department. they're in there as well. >> reporter: at this point they broken into, whether this was a robbery. but we are about to get briefed by a captain from the el cerrito police department. so it looks like we'll be getting more information very soon within moments on this story. stay with us as we continue to cover this developing story. live in el cerrito, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. if you're just waking up to us, good morning. it's 4:30. a quick update on weather and traffic. >> let's take a look at what's going on with the daep. you can see we're starting off mild in some areas, 50s, 60s and maybe 70s up in the hills. look how quickly we get to the 80s and 90s by noon. 83 to 96 by 4:00. that may be a little underdone. i may have to update those temperatures and push them a little higher. hanging around the 70s in the evening hours starting at 7:00.

let's take a look at the visibility. there is fog mainly confined to the coast. packs of clouds are starting to push to the east. they should bump up against the east bay hills and see an increase in clouds there throughout the morning commute and patchy fog. we'll zero in on that as we head through the morning commute. let's get over to frances and talk about the morning commute. >> looking pretty good on the eastshore freeway. this is westbound 80 headlights moving fberkeley. we'll check out the san mateo bridge, right-hand side traffic moving out of hayward and looking good. east bay very light right now out of foster city in san mateo. this is 680 in walnut creek, the ride starting nicely right now. the drive time great as well, > a police lockdown at the . great mall in milpitas was lifted after a robbery inside a jewelry store.

>> the chaos led some shoppers to think there had been a shooting. police say three men smashed the display cases, stole jewelry and ran away. when officers arrived, they saw customers running because they thought they heard gunshots. the mall was locked down for three hours while officers cleared the mall. no one was hurt. the search continues for those robbers. on the peninsula, a man arrested in the tan fran mall shooting is due in court. 18-year-old deandre gant is charged with attempted murder. two teens were hurt. police arrested gantt after a chasing involving a stolen vehicle. a 16-year-old and 14-year-old have also been arrested. in san francisco, an extreme car break-in. a woman who parked her prius returned to find it disassembled and the battery stolen

>> reporter: marjorie kaplan never expected when she parked her toyota prius here a block from her pacific heights apartment to return to find it like this, completely disassemb disassembled. the car battery stolen. >> to get a sense of what it looked like when you walked out here. >> you go looking for your car and you know what your car looks like? >> yeah. >> it didn't look like my car. it looked like a jalopy car. they took the seat out, cut the wires and removed the battery which i understand weighs 180 pounds. >> reporter: in 2015 abc 7 news reported on a rash of prius battery thefts in san francisco, presumably by individuals who knew how to remove them without getting length can you telled. four years later marjorie says battery theft is something that never even crossed her mind. she posted about it on next door and got a lot of responses. >> nothing is safe in san

and japanese prime minister shinzo abe announced both countries agreed on trades on agriculture. we do want to go live to el cerrito where police are about to update us on that off duty officer-involved shooting. >> -- contra costa county district attorney is summoned, basically automatically because it's a police-involved incident, as well as criminalists from the contra costa county sheriff's crime lab and the excelsior police detectives and crime scene investigators throughout the evening. as you said earlier, the san francisco police department is also involved. i don't have any information on the outcome. very active investigation. police are still being interviewed. police don't have much information as to why these things happen just yet. but as of now, el cerrito police

it sounds like they raise how much? >> have to raise $1.5 million to send 3,000 campers to camp. these are kids from all over the spectrum. 30 different weeks of 30 different types of challenges, if you will. don't like to call them disabilities. it started with pediatric aids kids. now it goes to amputees, celiac, crohn's disease. challenges that others don't have to deal with. these kids get to be around other kids and build the base that makes them feel good and know there's others out there like them. they develop the support group and come back a lot of times and help later on at other camps. >> we talk about finding your ally all the time. this is somethg th h th find people. >> absolutely. with social media now they can stay in touch. it's really neat. gives me goose bumps when i think about it. let's ta

let's talk about what's going on weatherwise. i'll post interviews i did yesterday, with a lot of people that make this happen. it's on carona cast. you can check it out there, too. here is a look at the golden gate bridge, west-southwest at 12 miles per hour. a little foggy here. it's not going to hang around very long. today is the hottest day this week. it is a spare the air with unhealthy air possible for those most sensitive. most of the week will be close to average. that means we'll have a summer feel to the last week of summer for most of the country. you know that's not the case for us. here is a look at the cloud cover. you can see it clinging the coast. pockets of it do try to roll across. it's back at the coast at noon. it doesn't linger there everywhere. there will be pockets of sunshine there, also. we've got temperatures near 90 all across the south bay, from 89 to 96 degrees. even 98 in gilroy. 82 in santa cruz. redwood city 90, millbrae 82.
