now at 5:00, pg&e preparing for the worst of wildfire si season. we'll show you a new resource to warn customers about power shutoff. you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. that means meteorologist mike nicco. >> we'll start with live doppler 7. you can see the cloud deck a little more prevalent than it was this time yesterday covering most of the bay and sneaking into those coastal valleys in the north bay making it over towards highway 101. we'll have a little fog this morning. here is a look from the exploratorium. you can see it there. my accuweather seven-day forecast, 57 to 65. milder than normal. what you'll notice during the afternoon hours, humidity is going to go up while our temperature drops back just a little bit.

a lot of 60s and 70s for the coast and the bay and then 80s to near 90 inland. 60s and 70s at 7:00. more on that humidity coming up. first, how is the commute, frances. >> the commute has been quietment overnight road work slowing things down. they're starting to clear that as well. a live look at interstate 80 for headlights moving westbound through berkeley. so far, so good coming off the carquinez bridge out of vallejo down to the bay bridge toll plaza where there's a minor wait for the cash paying lanes. checking out the south bay ride. this is northbound 87 for taillights heading towards the san jose airport. we have a problem-free commute in the south bay as well. >> thanks, frances. out of the south bay, cap bell police investigating a stabbing that left one person hurt at a gas station. this happened just before 3:00 this morning at the shell station on east hamilton avenue. this is near the on-ramp to highway 17. police have not said who the victim is or what led up to that incident and the victim's condition right now is not

known. as we head to the most active months of wildfire season, pg&e has launched a new website warning customers about preemptive power shutoffs. >> abc 7's jobina fortson is here to show us how it works. this is the new website that pg&e launched yesterday. it predicts the potential for power shutoffs and ranks them to these four categories. not expected. elevated. public safety pub watch and warning. if you head over to the map, click the menu area, there are cameras that pull up. you can see wind gusts in your area and then some other ones, there's the temperatures as well. you can also check out precipitation in the area. pg&e also has an informational video on their website that we'll take you to right now.

if you live anywhere in pg&e's virs territory, your electricity could turn off for more than 48 hours as part of the public safety power shutoff. this is in response to the harsh scrutiny pg&e has faced in its role of the devastating wildfires over the last two years. pg&e says the public safety power outage could impact any of more than 5 million customers. it's important to make sure your information has been updated. there's an area for that on the website as well. live in the studio, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. developing news now, president trump wants a border wall built by election day in 2020. the president has directed his aides to fast track billions of dollars worth of construction contracts. "the washington post" reports officials involved in the project were told they'll be pardoned if they break laws to get this job done. a terrifying home invasion with a shocking twist. mountain view police say it was an attempt by the landlord to evict a family.

abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo has the details. >> the subject tried to kick down the door. >> reporter: you can see signs of monday night's mayhem here, damage to the home along rock street. mountain view police say landlord, 50-year-old reenu saini was frustrated over late rent payment wanted the individuals gone. >> that landlord plus four others showed up to the home. >> reporter: the group of five seen here took their efforts to a criminal level. someone in the crew cut power to the family's unit. in the dark, suspect steven carling tried using a knife to break open the door. >> using these methods to have somebody leave a home, unfortunately this was not a route to take. >> reporter: the family escaped to rengstorff avenue unarmed. steve chandler with the mountain view tenants coalition says the

incident is surprising for a number of reasons. >> i get the impression that the smaller, like a ma and pa landlords, they care about their tenants. obviously this is an exception. >> reporter: the landlord and her crew are facing charges ranging from attempted robbery, conspiracy, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and unlawfully shutting power off to a home. the family was back in the home on tuesday but declined to speak on camera. >> i hope they can find another safe place to live. >> reporter: it's the first time that a step like this has been taken to evict someone from their home. we know the suspects range from age 49 to 53. in mountain view, amanda del castillo, abc 7 news. >> unbelievable story. >> that is wild. i feel so bad for the family. it's 5:05. a former google engineer is facing federal charges. >> accused of stealing trade secrets and taking them to his new employer, uber.

anthony leave van dow ski helped lead efforts vehicles. they say he illegally downloaded 33 different files that belonged to google. >> each of these trade secrets was reasonably protected by google, have economic value and was not generally known. >> anthony levandowski is innocent of these charges. he never stole or attempted to steal anything. >> uber has already agreed to pay waymo to settle a civil lawsuit dealing with the possible theft of trade secrets. waymo says we have always believed competition should be fueled by innovation and we appreciate the work of the u.s. attorney's office and the fbi on this case. this is from uber.

it says we have cooperated with the government throughout their investigation and will continue to do so. developing news, puerto rico is under a state of emergency as tropical storm dorian is expected to hit the island today. the mayor of san juan is firing back at president trump. she says the money they received is not $92 billion. it's actually between $12 billion and $14 billion. >> we say to the president of the united states, will his lies end? will that ever end? will his racism and vindictive behavior towards the people of puerto rico ever end? >> abc news reports the trump administration plans to shift money from fema's disaster relief fund to spending on border-related measures. let's see what dorian did while we were sleeping. another one is moving through -- about to move through puerto rico. let's focus on that one a little

more. it's going to produce six to eight inches of flooding rain. the winds will increase up to 70 miles per hour. significant damage from those, but nothing like what we saw from the last couple years from those major hurricanes that hit there. as it continues to head up to the northwest, it's going to skirt the bahamas just to the west and head up towards almost daytona beach, maybe cape kennedy. it's only supposed to be a tropical storm. that's good news. that means the winds will be light and the surf will be rough. temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s along the east bayshore line. not much of a breeze this morning. we will have slightly safer highs if you want to go out and about today. beaches cool and gray and a light breeze on the bay. on the peninsula, 70s at about 3:00, mid 70s during the evening hours. south bay, 60s through 7:00, 80s through 11:00, mid 80s most of

the afternoon hours. for our east bay valleys, we try to take the 90s out of most of the forecast neighborhoods. but still, upper 80s going to be pretty warm this afternoon. lengths find out about the commute. what's going on, frances? a nice ride across the san mateo bridge, especially headlights moving eastbound. very light as well. no problems on the peninsula. 880 fine through hayward. bay bridge toll plaza getting a little crowded right now as you make your way towards the incline section. traffic is starting to backup for all the lanes. but really not bad. a live shot in san jose, headlights northbound 101 find out of morgan hill all the way through san jose and up the peninsula. that's 880 across your screen. really the only slowing we're seeing is westbound 580 from tracy to dublin. that's now 48 minutes. southbound 680 looks good through the sunol grade. happening today, uber and lyft drivers are driving to sacramento to fight for a pro union bill under consideration

in the senate. >> uber, uber, you're no good. >> drivers held this protest yesterday outside uber headquarters in san francisco. there you see democratic presidential candidate pete buttigieg. some ride share drivers from los angeles participated in yesterday's rally while on their way to sacramento to support ab 5. it would reclassify drivers as employees instead of independent contractors. that change would mean more benefits, more labor rights, possibly more pay. uber and lyft issued company statements saying they're working to give drivers some of the benefits they're now demanding. the city of san francisco is expanding mental health programs at public schools. mayor london breed says it's to help kids deal with stress, depression, suicide, bullying and other issues. she's including $3.5 million to fund the program for the next two years in the budget. that will allow middle schools and high schools to hire a

it's 5:13. here are the seven things to know today. campbell police are investigating an overnight stabbing at a gas station that left a person hurt. it happened at the shell station on east hamilton avenue. a deadly bar attack in mexico's gulf coast. police say at least 23 people killed, 13 others hurt. the attacker started a fire that ripped through a bar in the coastal city. the governor is suggesting a gang dispute is behind the attack. charges in a second case against the man accused of attacking a woman outside her san francisco condo building will be drop. the d.a.'s office says austin vincent was in southern california at the time of the incident in february. pg&e warned a new website to warn customers about preemptive power shutoffs as we hit the

picture from lunch at costco. hope he's doing well. sfo, 60. you can see the clouds encroaching. we'll keep an eye on this as they could blanket the airport and cause delays. temperatures will drop a little bit today. coolest afternoons are thursday and friday. they're also the most humid. an almost perfect holiday weekend. nearly normal temperatures and the humidity gone. we've got 91 in morgan hill today. everybody else in the mid to upper 80s in the south bay. milpitas at 82. santa cruz about 76. it's low-80 day for most of the peninsula. mid to upper 70s in san mateo and millbrae. mid 60s along the coast today, closer to where you should be. near 70 in downtown, south san francisco and sausalito. along the north bay coast a little more cloud cover. temperatures in the 80s for about the entire north bay valley system. as you head towards the east bay, richmond at 69. most comfortable temperatures berkeley and oakland, low to mid 70s there.

near 80 for the rest of us. still warm in the east bay valleys. tonight will be one of the warmer nights. look at the 60s out there. look at the green dots. we'll deal with patchy drizzle tomorrow morning. my accuweather seven-day forecast, here is a look at those temperatures thursday and friday. 60s, 70s and 80s. we'll try to introduce 90s inland starting saturday. we'll stay in the 60s, 80s and 90s for the rest of the forecast. i checked in with chp. it's quiet out there. not a lot of calls coming in for accidents. we'll take you around the bay area and show you live camera shots. this is at highway 87 in san jose. the taillights move northbound towards the san jose airport. bay bridge toll plaza it is starting to back up for all the lanes there towards the ends of the parking lot, getting a little crowded now. i suspect they might turn the metering lights on pretty soon. here is southbound 680 on the right-hand side moving well through wkyt towards highway 24. south 680 also fine down through dblin and the sunol grade.

really the only slowing we're seeing, you see all that green out there, but there is some red spots or are red spots westbound 205 out of tracy to the altamont pass. that drive time tracy to dublin is 46 minutes. you'll notice we've got lots of green everywhere. westbound 24 walnut creek to highway 13 an easy eight-minute ride. in the north bay drivers may soon see the number of electric vehicle charge stations double in sonoma and mendocino counties. the initiative is fueled by $5 million of state funds over the next three years. currently there are about 460 charging stations in the two counties. that could grow to nearly by 2024 with a new rebate incentive program from the california energy commission nchts more than a dozen women who claim jeffrey epstein sexually assaulted them shared the stories in court. the women spoke during an emotional 2 1/2 hour hearing yesterday. the judge wanted to give them a chance to speak since they won't

be able to confront epstein in court. the billionaire died by suicide earlier this month while awaiting trial. >> it was so powerful in there hearing all the other victims, very similar stories that i had endured. i want to thank the judge for letting us speak, having some closure. >> the judge did not issue a ruling on prosecutors request to drop the charges against epstein. prosecutors say they will continue to investigate other people possibly involved in his alleged sex trafficking operation. actress lori loughlin and husband mossimo jegiannulli, th court made sure they understood they would not be annual to raise an appeal claiming their attorneys have a conflict of interest because the firm previously represented usc in an unrelated case. the couple is accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to get their

still 33 minutes. westbound 80 highway 4 to the maze good a 17 minutes. here is 680 in walnut creek, still looking good towards highway 25. we have developing news this morning in mexico where a violent attack at a bar left 23 people dead. >> and 13 others hurt. this happened in veracruz. here is new video into the abc 7 news room. authorities say the attacker started a fire that burned through the bar killing eight women and 15 men. the fire may have been started by gasoline bombs. the search for the people continues and the governor is suggesting a gang dispute in the attack. happening today, a hearing for the man accused in the attack of a woman outside her san francisco condo building. >> it turns out austin vincent won't be facing charges in the second case. he can prove he was not involved in that attack. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live in san

francisco. amy. >> reporter: take a look at austin vincent. this is his mugshot. it caught the attention of san francisco when it was released, and his release from jail sparked outrage. the judge let him go after his arrest. the victim in the case was very upset and spoke out about how she did not feel safe. that attack was caught on surveillance camera. a woman is seen being attacked outside her south beach apartment. the charges in this case still stand. austin vincent is accused in that case. after this video made the news, a woman accused him of attacking her in february, and he was charged in that case. the district attorney has now determined vincent wasn't even here in february, that he was in southern california. so those charges will be dropped in court today. vincent is now in custody. his attorney will ask that he be released from jail now that these new charges are being dropped. that hearing is set for 9:00

this morning. live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. happening today, you are invited to a meeting about the proposed navigation center along the embarcadero in san francisco. an advisory group has been created to monitor and provide feedback on the activities of the center. department of public works and department of homelessness will be there to answer questions. that will be at the south beach community room on the embarcadero on king street. happening today, one of three suspected gunman accused of a brazen shooting on san francisco's market street is scheduled to be arraigned. >> one man was lit by the gunfire last week but is expected to survive. 18-year-old laron simpson will be charged with firing a gun. he was arrested along with 21-year-old elijah earnest on monday when oakland police investigated them. the third suspect is under the age of 18 and has not been caught yet. in the wake of several mass

shootings, washington, d.c.'s democratic heavy hitters were in town to talk gliens prevention. they're taking a more aggressive stand against gun violence. congress is on a break. but once it resumes, speaker pelosi hopes the issue of background checks will be resurrected. >> background checks saves hundreds of thousands of lives. it really is the most effective way to save lives. >> speaker pelosi will continue talking about guns this morning. she'll have another town hall meeting in colorado. deutsche bank has revealed it has access to tax returns related to a congressional probe into president trump, his children and his businesses. the bank made the revelation following an order from the new york appeals court. it required the bank and capital one to disclose whether they have copies of the president's or his children's returns. house democrats have been trying

to get ahold of the president's tax documents. a request to the irs in april was denied. a petaluma man faces arson charges in connection with the spirit fire that broke out late yesterday afternoon. it triggered a brief evacuation warning. the marin ij reports the man told authorities he set personal effects on fire andt grew out of control. it's now at 16 acres. firefighters are still on the scene. san francisco police are searching for the man who carjacked a shuttle bus at sfo. shuttle operator sky park says passengers were getting on the bus at the international arrivals terminal when a man walked up and ordered everybody out. he drove off in that vehicle. the shuttle bus was found a while later on ashby avenue in berkeley. fortunately no one was hurt. a new development in the effort to fix san francisco's tilting millennium tower. a panel of experts signed off on a plan to drill 52 steel piles

from san carlos to pa skask northward into the north bay, dress for upper 50s when you head outside. on the san mateo bridge, 61, as you get towards foster city, 59 degrees. look for more cloud cover and limited amount of fog today. if you're taking mass transit, cool this morning, but pretty warm this afternoon. the cloud cover that's out there will evaporate for a sunny afternoon on the water. for the north bay, you can see how quickly we jump from the 50s and 60s and 70s. every two hours we're jumping about ten degrees. we'll hang out in the mid 80s this afternoon. east bay, your 12-hour forecast in the 60s through 9:00. we'll be near 80 throughout the afternoon hours and a nice 71 at 7:00. our last stop will be san francisco where it doesn't look like we can escape the 60s today. i don't think anybody is complaining with upper 60s, are they? >> no. i'm loving it.

as soon as it hits above 70, it's like a heat wave. >> i always hear that from certain people who live in the city and how busy dolores park will be. we know the troubles of the mid 70s in san francisco. how is the traffic? >> we know about troubles heading out of the east bay, especially if you're heading to the bay bridge right now. it's actually not horrible. metering lights are on. it is backed up towards the 880 overcrossing. westbound 4, the earlier motorcycle injury accident has cleared fairly quickly. it's not blocking any lanes right now. cue still may see activity off to the shoulder. traffic is slow approaching the scene. but lanes have been reopened. as we choke out the drive time for you, it is sluggish. westbound 4 has slow-and-go spots. heavy in antioch and slow and go from pitszburg into concord. drive time is 48 minutes. westbound 80 slow highway 4 to
