"abc7 news" starts right now. >> now, news to build a better bay area. from abc 7. happening right now, three puppies stolen from a san francisco animal shelter overnight have been rescued. >> lisa amin gulezian is live in hayward where that reunion just

took place. lisa? >> reporter: a very happy ending for two of those dogs, just reunited with the shelter's director a you minutes ago. take a look at some of the video. the dogs were fast asleep when she put them into her car. the two people accused of trying to sell them were taken away in handcuffs. things have been unfolding very quickly tonight. we have video the sellers sent to the shelter a few hours ago, showing the two huskies playing. volunteers contacted the seller via instagram and posed as buyers. the dogs were for sale for $800 each. >> they cut into my bottom line, which is not cool. they stole my dogs, which is not cool. it's just -- and from watching them on the video, they took their time. they knew what they were doing.

they knew they would turn around today and sell them as quickly as possible. >> reporter: there was a reported sighting of the stolen pit bull puppy this morning, but no signs of it for sale online. this is video of the thieves taking the puppies last night. staff says they were targeted because of their high cash value. the pit bull is still outstanding as i mentioned. those at the shelter are very worried about him tonight. live in hayward, lisa amin gulezian, "abc7 news." >> lisa, thank you. new at 11:00, a cal train struck and killed a person on the tracks in morgan hill just at 7:00 at railroad avenue. the person was trespassing at the time. in the south bay, new details about a deadly hit and run. san jose police say the driver who hit and killed a bicycle istook off on foot.

>> this happened near story road and south jackson avenue. amanda del castillo has the details. amanda? >> reporter: we're here at story and jackson. there was a makeshift memorial growing on the median. maybes say they often see drivers coming through the intersection speeding. and it's that reckless driving paired with the heavy foot and bicycle traffic making for the dangerous conditions. afternoon traffic is usually busy at the intersection of story road and jackson avenue. but thursday, a hit and run brought cars to a complete stop. and those in surrounding businesses to their feet. >> i heard the noise. and then i stand up, i look, what happened? >> reporter: a man was behind this wheel of this gold chevy suburban and hit this truck, then hit a bicyclist in the cross walk. the driver then got out of the

suv, but not to help the injured. >> he started running. >> reporter: police confirm the suspect escaped on foot. the driver of the silverado was faken to the hospital. the bicyclist didn't survive the impact. business owners stay the road is known for heavy foot traffic and speeding cars. >> a lot of people try to run their cars in this area. >> reporter: others say safety is a shared responsibility. >> translator: we should all respect the rules of the road, that is primary. respect the rules, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. >> reporter: the bicyclists has only been described by police as an adult man. his death marks the city's 31st fatal collision this year. in east san jose, i'm amanda del castillo, "abc7 news." >> thank you. developing news, concern is growing over hurricane dorian as it takes dead aim at florida.

it is predicted to be a category 4. but exactly when and where it makes landfall is an unanswered question. the governor has declared a state of emergency and now georgia's governor has done the same. our reporter is in daytona beach tonight. >> reporter: hurricane dorian is gaining strength over the open waters of the atlantic. forecasters saying when it makes landfall, it could be a catastrophic category 4, and one of the worst storms to hit the east coast of florida in decades. >> this is potentially a catastrophic storm in terms of wind and surge. >> reporter: the governor declaring a state of emergency, telling people the time to prepare is now. >> you should have seven days of food and medicine and water. >> reporter: people loading up on supplies. some gas stations so busy, they're running out of fuel. >> just being prepared for the storm. >> just want to protect against what's coming. >> reporter: airports are

securing equipment. the military safeguarding planes. the coast guard strapping down boats. more than 17 million people, nearly the entire state of florida, in the cone of uncertainty. >> it's mind boggling, because nobody knows where this storm is going. >> reporter: president trump canceling a trip to poland, staying in washington to monitor the storm, and the rolling stones rescheduling a concert on saturday in florida to friday so fans can attend before the storm hits. now, this is a live picture of the miami skyline tonight. the residents, with millions of others, are asking the key question -- when will dorian hit? meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking it very closely tonight. sandhya? >> yeah, this storm as you take a look, hurricane dorian has picked up steam. sit a category 4 storm, expected to become a category 4 storm. as you take a closer look at this monster storm as it

developed over the warm waters of the atlantic. winds of 105 miles per hour, expected to intense fie mo eed . saturday, a 4 as it approaches the bahamas and the florida coastline going into monday. the major issues with this storm is rainfall. isolated for bahamas, up to seven inches. for the southeast u.s., up to 15 inches with strong, gusty winds and dangerous storm surge. ama? >> thank you, sandhya. a san francisco police sergeant now faces a criminal charge for disrupting a meeting on homelessness at a police station in another city. dan noyes has the latest. >> reporter: the san mateo county coastline has a problem with the possibly homeless. i found ten rvs here in pacifica. >> homelessness presents our
