there could be patchy fog in the north bay valleys and along the coast. mid to low 60s this afternoon through this evening at the coast. then we've got mid to upper 70s bay and inland at noon. 79 to 88. a little warmer this afternoon. 72 to 81 with dry air as we head through the evening hours. here is frances. a live shot of the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see traffic is super light right now. no metering lights. there was even a hit-and-run at the tolls, no delays at all still. there are a few problem spots out there, one in concord, although the countercommute direction. a big rig crash northbound 242 blocking the grant street off-ramp. you can see traffic flowing very well through the area. clayton is an alternate for you. also, as we head farther south, there's an injury crash southbound 85 at blossom hill. i put in a little speed sensor there. traffic moving at 76 miles per hour past the accident. new this morning, a person has been injured in this house

fire in los gatos. it broke out in a home on overlook road before 11:00 last night. two people were sitting outside after they got out. one person was hurt and had to go to the hospital. just a few hours later, another fire broke out at a business that was less than three miles away. the two-alarm fire broke out at a business on village lane near pettycoat lane. santa clara county firefighters could be seen surrounding the smoke-filled building. the extent of damage is not known. the cause of both fires is under investigation. the two men in the back of this patrol car are under arrest after police say they tried to sell stolen dogs. three puppies were taken from a san francisco animal rescue organization on wednesday night and thanks to social media, the shelter has two of those dogs back this morning. one is still missing. abc 7 news reporter amy

hollyfield live at sfpd headquarters with how a stranger helped police track them down. amy. >> reporter: yes, we have quite a story for you this morning and some cute video to go along with it. take a look. >> there they are. lana and levy. >> reporter: these huskies were stolen, but they were found last night. they were taken from the family dog rescue shelter in san francisco. police did arrest two people in connection with their disappearance. they were stolen from san francisco but found in hayward. shelter volunteers saw an ad for the stolen dogs online and jumped into action. >> we had a lead that they were possibly being sold in hayward. on very short notice we contacted the hayward police department. they took it seriously and they set up the sting, and we unwittingly actually appeared in the middle of the sting. but, yeah.

so they recaptured or retrieved our stolen property. >> reporter: but this little baby is still missing. a 6-week-old pit bull puppies. shelter workers say he's under vaccinated, sick and on medication so it's urgent they find him. they have surveillance video of the break-in. the shelter says the dogs along with electronics were stolen. hayward police are working with san francisco police on this case. it looks like someone thought they could make some good money off those huskies. the ad was asking for $800 for each dog. the dogs are okay. they're back with the shelter. the director is now expecting to have a busy morning. she's thinking a lot of people will be calling and inquiring about adopting those darling dogs. live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> hoping for a happy ending for all three dogs. thank you very much. the man accused of killing

two men is due in court. investigators say malik dosouqi lured his victims to skyline boulevard and murdered them. doctors examined dosouqi at the request of the judge who noticed he was randomly laughing in court. today's hearing will focus on the resulteds of those health evaluations. hurricane dorian is gaining strength as it barrels across the atlantic ocean. right now dorian is a category 2 storm, but could reach category 4 by the time it makes landfall near west palm beach, florida. that could happen monday night or tuesday morning. florida's governor asked president trump to declare a pre-landfall disaster so the state can take advantage of federal resources in preparation for the storm. dorian may be the strongest hurricane to hit florida's east coast in three decades. let's go over to mike for a closer look at the path of dorian. >> we were talking about it there and you were showing, it did strengthen to a 2 overnight. that means it has winds 110 to

connected to vaping has been confirmed in illinois. on the peninsula, the fry's electronics store in palo alto is closing its doors for good this january. it's been in the ventura neighborhood since 1990. a spokesperson for the computer hardware chain says the lease is up on january 31st and can't be renewed. customers can visit other bay area stores in sunnyvale, fremont, san jose, campbell or concord. palo alto considering using the space for housing, saying that tract can hold up to 200 units. uber and lyft put up big money to fight a controversial labor law. an better bay area through hair. the initiative

president trump says he has an answer to gun violence, opening more mental institutions. staffers are looking for ways to incorporate that into policy. the president's plan has gotten flak from mental health officials. they say this approach would do little to reduce mass shootings like the ones in gilroy, el paso and dayton. they also say it stigmatizes mental health issues by linking it with violence. uber, lyft and door dash are spending millions to fight a bill they say poses a fundamental threat to their

san jose police right away. live this morning, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. >> jobina, thank you. a 12-year-old brentwood girl is in the hospital this morning being treated for critical injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. it happened yesterday morning on sunrise road and trail side drive. the girl was just walking to school, to edna hill middle school. the driver of an suv hit her and kept on going. she had to be airlifted to uc davis medical center. police tracked the female driver to a nearby parking lot and arrested her. she's facing dui and felony hit-and-run charges. the man accused of attacking a woman outside her san francisco condo building is back in court today. yesterday prosecutors dropped a second charge against austin james vincent saying he was misidentified in that case. after reviewing surveillance video of the attack, the judge denied the request to release vincent from jail, saying he is still a public threat for this incident. as vincent was leaving, he

cursed at the judge. a san francisco police sergeant facing charges in pacifica for disrupting a meeting on homelessness. 46-year-old maria donati works for sfpd and lives in pacifica. she unlawfully pulled a fire alarm. this started on august 7th when a citizens advisory board tackling homelessness held a private meeting at the pacifica police department. prosecutors say donati demanded to be part of the meeting. when she couldn't get in, she pulled the fire alarm and left. dan noyes with the abc news i-team has been following the story and confronted donati. >> i need to talk to you about the fire alarm. can you tell me what happened? >> no, no. i'm not talking. thank you. >> why not? >> it's clear. >> we follow a philosophy down here that for bad conduct there's consequences. >> donati can face up to a year in county jail and possibly a
