most and by later on in the afternoon, a few low 80s out by the delta. we'll talk about how long our cool weather lasts and when the warmup arrives in a few minutes. >> thanks, lisa. antonio brown is no longer a raider. it's been a wild few months for the wide receiver and now he's headed to the patriots. brown requested his release in a public and dramatic way. abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard has a look. >> he's a good guy, misunderstood by a lot of people. >> reporter: jon gruden says there's no hard feelings but antonio brown has been released from the team where he never played one game. >> i wish antonio nothing but the best and i'm sorry that we never got a chance to see him in silver and black. >> reporter: the raiders made the decision to cut brown hours after he requested the releaon social media. he was upset over an outburst at

practice with general manager mike mayock. the fine allowed the raiders to void more than $29 million in guarantees in brown's three year contract. brown tweeted the child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth. a summer full of drama for brown, from a helmet gre vaps to missing practice after suffering frostbite. on friday brown posted this video on youtube of an apparent private phone call he had with coach gruden. >> do you want to be a raider or not. >> trying to be a raider or not. >> reporter: gruden would not confirm if the voice on the call is his. >> if you want to talk about the game. >> reporter: raiders' teammates reacted this way. >> antonio is a great player and someone we wish we could have because he is one of the best receivers in the nfl. >> i don't anything against him. he was next to me in my locker. positive dude. if he's not here anymore we don't hate him. we move on and handle business.

>> reporter: raiders' quarterback derek carr had no comment about brown. coac gruden says no time to look back. the raiders play the first regular season game on monday night against the broncos. in alameda, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. >> larry beil and chris alvarez have a look at what's next for brown. >> what a bizarre 48 to 72 hours for the raiders. i mean, i think the assumption was, okay, antonio brown will be a raider. gets cut and five hours later signed by the new england patriots. bill belichick, interesting how quickly that came about. >> i'm not sure we saw any of this happening. >> i feel like antonio brown played the raiders in this situation. i think he was in for a while but maybe once he fined him he basically told his agent drew rosenhouse get me out of here. it was a replay of the pittsburgh steelers situation. how can i crazy my way out of this. i'm going to make it impossible, i'm going to -- secretly record

on holly street. he wouldn't come out. that was about six hours after a woman called to report the incident which happened on willow street. neighbors had to shelter in place before officers arrested cole. at least two people are dead and three others injured following a plane crash near las vegas. the plane went down shortly after taking off from the henderson executive airport last night. it's not clear what caused the crash, but air traffic indicated the pilot radioed two minutes after takeoff that a door had come open. a las vegas tv station is reporting the plane is registered to a flight school in southern california. sfo's busiest runway is officially closed for construction. this is a live look at the airport now. one of the best times to fly if it's available. the closure is expected to last for 20 days and it's already making travel frustrating. abc 7 news reporter liz kroi explains hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled. >> reporter: at baggage claim we

met jennie and john price. >> we're from louisiana and came to san francisco to vacation, have some fun. >> reporter: what wasn't so fun their flight from dallas to get here. >> i started getting updates through expedia there was going to be delay and delay and delay. >> reporter: the prices soon learned why. sfo's busiest runway closed for construction for the next 20 days. on day one saturday, flyers already felt the impact. >> my flight was dlad like twice. i was late for my job because i'm working at the chase center for the warriors. i was supposed to be at work. >> reporter: sfo says on saturday 244 flights delayed, 103 canceled the majority due to this construction. on twitter, airlines busy responding to us from separated flyers. one person told us their flight from l.a.x. was delayed five hours. the departures board right now, most of the night appear to be on time. a couple cancellations. when you look at the arrivals

that's how you can see how many. >> reporter: we talked to michael who told us his friend showed up to find out it was rerouted through san jose. delays saturday afrmds 90 minutes. the faa says longer, three hours and 30 minutes. for people traveling the next 20 days, take early flights before 9:00 a.m. when delays are expected to start and check with your airline. some are offering to change flights for free. >> he was wanting to leave whenever we could possibly get out, but i'm saying this is our vacation, we're going to stay and have a good time in san francisco no matter what. >> reporter: that's the spirit, right? liz kroi, abc 7 news. efforts to recover the dive boat tha sank near santa cruz island have been suspended through tomorrow. increased winds, swells and krurntsz to blame. the coast guard says that includes the search and recovery of the final missing victim they believe to be one of 34 people apoor aboard the conception.

the vessel is still under water. the process is deliberately slow because of safety concerns and to keep the integrity of the boat. happening today, a golf club in contra costa county is set to close for good. according to our media partner the east bay times the deer ridge golf club in brentwood will close permanently today. a sign says it's having a difficult time with finances because of increasing maintenance operational costs and lower revenue. ownership suffered huge losses. they only saw about 120 golfers a day when it needed 180 to survive. now we're joined with meteorologist lisa argen. is it a good day to go out golfing? >> it's been a little chilly. pretty windy yesterday. heard from folks and that system has moved through but a breeze in the air and a touch of fall for the next several days. emeryville, 62 in oakland, 60s and 70s on the map.

it forward mennoring other challenged athletes. metallic ka is playing at the chase center in san francisco. thousands of fans packed chase center friday night to see metallica and the symphony. the first time they played with the symphony was in 1999. they did have a warning for the warriors. the hot water was apparently not so great. yesterday chase center hosted the u.s. open watch party. see the big crowd that showed up to watch the women's final shown on the big screen and they set up tennis courts that looked just like the one in new york. this is the first public event at the new arena. meteorologist lisa argen is tracking the forecast for us. lisa. >> amanda. >> short sleeves, are they a good choice. >> yeah. we are looking once again at temperatures coming down for this time of year and that wind, with wow, that we had yesterday, that also is going to abate throughout the day today.

it's still going to remain breezy. look at live doppler 7, the clouds patchy from the san mateo close. elsewhere clear they've been swept away from the strong northwesterly breeze. see the system to the north of us allowing for a little bit of rain throughout portland. temperatures this morning stacking up mainly in the 50s to near 60 degrees. 60 know vat ta, hayward, fremont. as we look at our wind profile, skill gusty from sfo and down the peninsula. winds up to 24 miles an hour and as we go up in height, still looking at winds over 30 miles an hour. so check out mt. diablo and half moon bay. we have the wind, the breeze and as we go through the next several hours the sky cover will be clear. you can see this shot from our sutro tower camera. the autumn feel to the air. partly cloudy, sunny skies, with breezy winds, and much warmer as we get into wednesday.

more typical weather pattern for september. as we look at the clouds from the san mateo coast notice they get swept away once again throughout the afternoon and then coming back, kind of patchy throughout the day for your monday. otherwise, sunny skies and a series of cool weather systems from the north will continue to allow for our weather to be cooler than average right on through tuesday with just minimal fog here and then high pressure builds on in. the winds today 9:00 you'll notice it's the windiest at the coast and through the afternoon it's not too windy out by the delta or in the south bay. we have a breeze on the pen peninsula, the north bay, 15 to 30-mile-an-hour winds. gets breezy out there once again. you will probably need the jacket but the sun warm for september and we'll see plenty of it today. let's jump ahead to tuesday where we gain a few degrees in our inland areas, but not much. today, tomorrow and into tuesday pleasant, 60s, 70s, 80s by the middle of the afternoon and then

fremont at 60. did you feel the cool down yesterday? we have a series of cool weather systems that will influence our weather today. by 10:00 we're in the 60s. few 70s in the north bay. notice those oranges coming into play. that's slightly warmer air in our inland east bay, 2:00, mountain view about 73. and throughout the afternoon we'll hit a few low 80s inland. 7:00, patchy fog, san mateo, mid 60s out there, breezy on the coast. we'll talk about how long this cooling trend lasts before we settle into a typical september weather regime. >> thanks. hurricane dorian is whipping up waves and heavy winds along canada's east coast. last night it made landfall over nova scotia. see how powerful it is bringing winds of nearly 100 miles per hour with it. the good news is dorian is expected to lose power this morning. meanwhile parts of north

carolina and the bahamas are just beginning to survey the damage left behind. abc's karina mitchell has more. >> reporter: the skies have cleared and floodwaters are receding in north carolina's outer banks after dorian made landfall. ocracoke island hard hit. heavy rains and storm surge flooding entire neighborhoods. north carolina's governor touring the damage. >> the people who did get flooded and who did get significant wind damage, this is a bad situation for them. we are going to pull together. >> reporter: nearly a week after dorian devastated the bahamas the humanitarian crisis is growing. the docks filled with survivors hopingen to evacuated. the un estimating at least 70,000 are homeless in abaco and grand bahama. >> we don't have no power, no water, and it's hot, hot, and hard to live.

>> reporter: bringing food and water to the area is a challenge. water in marsh harbor is unsafe to drink and bathe in. cruise ships repurpose to ferry people to nassau. as many are looking to evacuate, jackson is staying behind to help rebuild. >> you're telling me now just to pack up and leave in the sit in the corner to wait for somebody to give me a meal or, you know -- that just isn't a part of my dna. >> reporter: his son-in-law agrees. women, children and the elderly should evacuate, but he's staying. >> i'm a guy. i have to stay. somebody has to stay to help clean this up. >> reporter: the u.s. part of an international coalition with the uk, canada and caribbean partners, working with private organizations to bring aid to areas devastated by the storm. karina mitchell, abc news, new york. in the east bay a protest opposing a proposed temporary navigation center to address fremont's housing crisis. dozens gathered in front of the

senior center to sound off against the center. it would provide up to six months of housing for up to 45 homeless people. they say the center would bring a negative safety impact to the neighborhood. city council is scheduled to meet tuesday to discuss moving forward with the center at one of two locations. either on capital avenue near city hall or dakota road near fremont boulevard. abc 7 news has made a commitment to building a better bay area and sometimes it takes building to improve this place we call home, especially when it comes to our housing crisis. the problem is that building takes time. now there's a solution to that problem. here's abc 7 news anchor dion lin. >> reporter: from the inside you would never know this 5,000 square foot home was prefab cated in southern california, transported and will take two days to install. >> pretty amazing. yesterday it was just a hole in the ground and here we're standing on the second floor. >> reporter: when it comes to

home construction in the bay area, time is money and the six bedroom home by custom builders plant prefab will save homeowner byron a good chunk of change. >> the modular building methodologies can generally save 30% on the overall construction schedule. >> reporter: plant estimates their cost to build a prefab home like this is 250 to $350 a square foot compare that to burlingame where the home is $1200 a square foot the savings is significant, however there is a catch. >> buying the land wasn't cheap. this is the bay area after all. that was a big chunk of our budget. >> reporter: speed, convenience and cost, have increased the demand for prefab housing. last year amazon invested in plant and companies like rent the backyard are using prefab models from other builders to give homeowners an inlaw unit to rent out on their property. >> the times have changed over the last five, ten years and we're agency seeing a higher

a tiny shrimp could cause a big problem. the "l.a. times" reports researchers at uc davis have been trying to figure out what's polluting the water. the shrimp were brought in during the 1960s for trout to

feast on, but the shrimp have exploded in population to the point where researchers say they could affect clarity. the solution, use trawlers to remove them and sell the omega 3 fatty acids. the projects could pay for itself. planning environmental protection projects can cost a lot of money not to mention time and other resources. a south bay water district is aiming to make it easier for people to make a difference in their own communities. abc 7 news reporter chris nguyen has more on the nils grants they hope to award. >> reporter: in downtown san jose an urban oasis awaits those who visit the children's discovery museum. >> there's succulence, a garden for them to grow a little magic and hidden treasure in every corner. >> reporter: thanks to a wildlife restoration grant the museum was able to eliminate all grass and put in native plants in the backyard bridge to nature space. the popular attraction has

helped with increasing biodiversity in the area. >> water conservation has become a big issue for all of us living in the bay area and we realize to make a difference we needed to start with children and help them get the message about the ways in which they, too, can help save water. >> reporter: the water district plans to award more than $2 million in grants to multiple organizations in santa clara county who want to do their part to help the environment. applications for 20 are available. >> one of the things we're doing is expanded outreach to non-profits and others to get in creative proposals from not just things in the past but new people. we're looking forward to that. >> reporter: in palo alto grassroots ecology was awarded a grant they used to build water collection barrels and rain gardens like this one at ballpark. this is a small snippet of what they do but they say grants like this one from valley water can be a catalyst for getting more people involved. >> people worry about habitat loss but a lot of times they

in sports nfl football officially back in the bay area. this afternoon the 49ers open up the season in tampa against the buccaneers. kickoff is at 1:25 at raymond jmes stadium. and the raiders open their season tomorrow night against the broncos at the oakland coliseum. kickoff is at 7:20 p.m. if you're not going, you can watch it right here on abc 7. antonio brown's time in oakland was short lived. the team released him before the first game of the season. abc 7 sports anchor chris alvarez has more in this morning's sports. >> reporter: in one of the more bizarre sports stories to come in, antonio brown's run with the raiders has come to an end. >> raiders free. >> that was brown saturday after learning he was released by the raiders later if the day and signed with the patriots.

but in terms of temperatures we're below average. livermore about 80 degrees. we should be in the upper 80s. things don't change too much through about tuesday. then we're climbing on wednesday. mid to a few upper 90s thursday and friday and this trend looks to follow suit for many cities around the bay. not getting that hot around the bay or coast but a slight warming trend there as well. 75 in san jose, so mild for you, 72 milpitas on the peninsula. breezy redwood city, san mateo, menlo park about 71 and sunset district, daly city, partly sunny conditions, breezy. up in the north bay check out the mid to upper 70s from san rafael to sonoma. east bay from 73 in hayward, san leandro little change as you get towards fremont at 74 and castro valley. you head inland the line for the warmer air towards the delta, upper 70s in pleasanton, 79 in walnut creek.
