half of your weekend. lest some of the gusty winds out there. 50s in napa and santa rosa. cool there. 60 towards hayward. 56 in livermore. from our sutro tower camera, don't have fog here and we'll continue it see the numbers on the cooler side of average. noontime 70 earn the bay, mid 70s inland and throughout the afternoon in the low 80s by the delta. mid 70s around the bay. windy at the coast. >> thanks. antonio brown is no longer a raider. a wild few months for the wide receiver and now he's headed to the patriots. it started yesterday morning when brown requested his release in a public and dramatic way. abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard has a look on how the raiders made brown official. >> he's a good guy, misunderstood by a lot of people. he's a good guy. a great player. >> reporter: raiders head coach jon gruden says there's no hard feelings but

star receiver antonio brown has been released from the team where he never played one game. >> i wish antonio nothing but the best and i'm sorry that we never got a chance to see him in silver and black. >> reporter: the raiders made the decision to cut brown hours after he requested the release on social media. brown was upset over his latest team fine over an outburst at practice with general manager mike mayock. the fine allowed the raiders to void more than $29 million in guarantees in brown's three year contract. brown tweeted the child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth. a summer full of drama for brown, from a helmet grievance to missing practice after suffering frostbite. on friday brown posted this video on youtube of an apparent private phone call he had with coach gruden. >> do you want to be a raider or not. >> trying to be a raider or not. >> reporter: gruden would not confirm if the voice on the call is his.

following abc 7 news at 6:00. new overnight, vallejo police arrested a man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman at gunpoint. police found tynel cole at 8:30 last night in a tool shed on holly street. he led them on a foot chase to a home there and wouldn't come out. that was about six hours after a woman called to report the incident which happened on willow street. neighbors had to shelter in place before officers arrested cole. at least two people are dead and three others injured following a plane crash near las vegas. the plane went down shortly after taking off from the henderson executive airport last night. it's not clear what caused the crash, but air traffic indicated the pilot radioed two minutes after takeoff that a door had come open. a las vegas tv station is reporting the plane is registered to a flight school in southern california. sfo's busiest runway is officially closed for

construction. this is a live look at the airport now. just what are the best times to fly if that's available. the closure is expected to last for 20 days and it's already making travel frustrating. abc 7 news reporter liz kroi explains hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled. >> reporter: at baggage claim we met jennie and john price. >> we're from louisiana and came to san francisco to vacation, have some fun. >> reporter: what wasn't so fun their flight from dallas to get here. >> i started getting updates through expedia there was going to be delay and delay and delay. >> reporter: the prices soon learned why. sfo's busiest runway closed for construction for the next 20 days. on day one saturday, flyers already felt the impact. >> my flight was delayed like twice. i was late for my job because i'm working at the chase center s for the warriors. i was supposed to be at work. >> reporter: sfo says on saturday 244 flights delayed, 103 canceled the majority due to

this construction. on twitter, airlines busy responding to frustrated flyers. one person told us their flight from l.a.x. was delayed five hours. now we're looking at the departures board and most of the flights taking off appear to be on time. a couple cancellations. when you look up at the arrivals that's when you can see how many flights are coming in delayed. we talked to michael who told us his friend showed up for their flight to tell us it was rerouted to san jose. >> they were ubered to san jose. >> reporter: the faa says it was longer three hours and 30 minutes. for people traveling the next 20 days, the best advice take early flights before 9:00 a.m. when delays expected to start and check with your airlines. some are offering to change flights for free. >> he was wanting to leave whenever we can possibly get out, but i'm saying this is our vacation, we're going to stay and have a good time in san francisco no matter what. >> reporter: that's the spirit,

right. liz kroi, abc 7 news. efforts to recover the dive boat that sank near santa cruz island have been suspended through tomorrow. increased winds, swells and currents to blame. the coast guard says that includes the search and recovery of the final missing victim they believe to be one of 34 people aboard the conception. the vessel is still under water. the vessel had been uprighted and secured yesterday but is stl under water. the process is deliberately slow because of safety concerns and to keep the integrity of the boat. happening today, a golf club in contra costa county is set to close for good. according to our media partner "the east bay times," the deer ridge golf club in brentwood will close permanently today. a sign says it's having a difficult time with finances because of increasing maintenance operational costs and lower revenue. representatives say ownership suffered huge losses. they only saw about 120 golfers a day when it needed 180 to survive.

francisco. they will perform tonight at 8:00 p.m. thousands of fans packed chase center friday night to see metallica and the san francisco symphony. it was the first time metallica played with the symphony since 1999. they did have a warning for the warriors. the hot water was apparently not so great. yesterday chase center hosted the u.s. open watch party. see the big crowd that showed up to watch the women's final shown on the big screen outside the arena. they set up a tennis court that looks just like the one in new york. we're going to get to meteorologist lisa argen tracking the forecast. good morning, lisa. >> hey, good morning to you. we're looking clear for many parts of the bay area this morning. just some patchy fog along the san mateo coast, the golden gate bridge is clear. yesterday you felt the cool down and weak weather system to our north bringing rain for seattle and portland, allowed for that breeze, those gusty winds, and temperatures just in the 60s and 70s. here's walnut creek, nice and

clear for you, 57 in san francisco, 62 oakland, 58 redwood city, san jose 58, 53 gilroy. mount tam no fog. beautiful start to the day. the sun coming up at about 6:45. 51, santa rosa. check out that 50 degree temperature in napa. that is seven degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. certainly cool in the north bay. 54 petaluma, delta 55 with a lighter wind, concord at 06 and livermore 56 degrees. the winds breezy to gusty from half moon bay to san francisco up to 28 miles an hour and looking at the upper elevations the gusts over 30 miles an hour. look at the mount diablo out of the northwest up to 37 in mount tam. the northwesterly winds bringing in the cool air and a look at san francisco you can see the fog here in the foreground, pretty shot out there. nice day, although it will be on

the breezy side. partly cloudy this morning, most of you, though, are clear. just a little bit of fog. sunny skies, breezy winds and much warmer as we head to about wednesday. notice the scant fog coverage. in fact, just along the san mateo coast then it clears throughout the day. it's going to be breezy to windy at our beaches and then it comes back just very patchy into your monday morning and once again it clears the coast. we have another system arriving on monday, reinforcing the chill to the air. as we go through the afternoon notice the blues, the yellows here that indicates the breeze across the bay from five miles an hour to 25 miles an hour at the coast. it builds throughout the afternoon. 4:00, we're ten-mile-an-hour winds over the east bay to 30 miles from point rays, 25-mile-an-hour winds around half moon bay. looking at the temperatures on tuesday, just a little bit warmer as we rebound after

news to build a better bay area this is "abc 7 mornings." we're starting this half hour with a look at the weather. here here's meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning. what a beautiful shot of san francisco with some of the fog in the foreground, otherwise it's a clear start out there. looking pretty nice for your sunday. we're going to take some of that wind away we had yesterday. 57 downtown. it is 62 in oakland. certainly a fall feel to the air yesterday. with the numbers in the 50s it feels cool out there north of the golden gate. you can see how clear it is here. how about the 50 in napa. you certainly feel the chill.

it is 60 in concord with numbers in the 50s towards the livermore valley. 60s at 10:00 for most of you, 70s in the north bay, the fog gets wiped away, it's breezy at the coast and we're in the low 70s to mid 70s in our inland east bay. that's 2:00. by the afternoon it stays mild inland, little breezy at the shoreline and we'll talk about a split forecast, a cool start and warm finish for the week ahead. >> thanks. hurricane dorian up waves. last night it made landfall as a post-tropical cyclone. see how powerful it is bringing of winds of 100 miles per hour with it. the good news, dorian expected to lose power this morning. /* meanwhile parts of north carolina and the bahamas are just beginning to survey the damage left behind. abc's karina mitchell has more. >> reporter: the skies have cleared and floodwaters are receding in north carolina's outer banks after dorian made landfall.

ocracoke island hard hit. heavy rains and storm surge flooding entire neighborhoods. north carolina's governor touring the damage. >> the people who did get flooded and who did get significant wind damage, this is a bad situation for them. we are going to pull together. >> reporter: nearly a week after dorian devastated the bahamas the humanitarian crisis is growing. the docks filled with survivors hoping to be see evacuated. the un estimating at least 70,000 are homeless in abaco and grand bahama. >> we don't have no power, no water, and it's hot, hot, and hard to live. >> reporter: bringing food and water to the area is a challenge. water in marsh harbor is unsafe to drink and bathe in. cruise ships repurpose to ferry people to nassau. as many are looking to evacuate, jacksois staying behind to

help rebuild. >> you're telling me now just to pack up and leave in the sit in the corner to wait for somebody to give me a meal or, you know -- that just isn't a part of my dna. >> reporter: his son-in-law agrees. women, children and the elderly should evacuate, but he's staying. >> i'm a guy. i have to stay. somebody has to stay to help clean this up. >> reporter: the u.s. part of an international coalition with the uk, canada and caribbean partners, working with private organizations to bring aid to areas devastated by the storm. karina mitchell, abc news, new york. in the east bay a protest opposing a proposed temporary navigation center to address fremont's housing crisis. dozens gathered in front of the fremont senior center yesterday to sound off against the center. it would provide up to six months of housing for up to 45 homeless people. they say the center would bring a negative safety impact to the neighborhood. city council is scheduled to

meet tuesday to discuss moving forward with the center at one of two locations. either on capital avenue near city hall or dakota road near fremont boulevard. abc 7 news has made a commitment to building a better bay area and sometimes it takes building to improve this place we call home, especially when it comes to our housing crisis. the problem is that building takes time. now there's a solution to that problem. here's abc 7 news anchor dion lin. >> reporter: from the inside you would never know this 5,000 square foot home was prefabricated in southern california transported to burlingame and will take two days to install. >> pretty amazing. yesterday it was just a hole in the ground and here we're standing on the second floor. >> reporter: when it comes to home construction in the bay area, time is money and the six bedroom home by custom builders plant prefab will save homeowner byron a good chunk of change. >> the modular building methodologies can generally save

about 30% on the overall construction schedule. >> reporter: plant estimates their cost to build a prefab home like this is 250 to $350 a square foot compared to that to burlingame where the average home is 1100 to 1200 a square foot, the savings is significant. however tlaez a catch. >> buying the land wasn't cheap. this is the bay area after all. that was a big chunk of our budget. >> reporter: speed, convenience and cost, have increased the demand for prefab housing. last year amazon invested in plant and companies like rent the backyard are using prefab models from other builders to give homeowners an inlaw unit to rent out on their property. >> i think the tides have changed over the last five to ten years and we're seeing a higher demand than i've ever experienced here in the bay area. >> reporter: when all is said and done this project will cost byron under $4 million or less than $1,000 a square foot. a savings that has changed his perception of the term prefab. >> i thought it was going to end up being a cookie cutter house,

to ake a difference we needed to start with children and help them get the message the about ways in which they, too, can help save water. >> reporter: the water district plans to award more than $2 million in grants to multiple organizations in santa clara county who want to do their part to help the environment. applications for 20 are available. >> one of the things we're doing is expanded outreach to non-profits and others to get in creative proposals from not just people who have done things in the past but new people. we're looking forward to that. >> reporter: in palo alto grassroots ecology was awarded a pollution prevention grant which they use to build water collection barrels and rain gardens like this one at ballpark. this is a small snippet of what they do but they say grants like this one from valley water can be a catalyst for getting more people involved. >> people worry about habitat loss but a lot of times they don't know what they can do. what we're doing is providing people a way to come out, meet their neighborhoods and actually

temperatures not where they should be for september. in fact, certainly cool out there. yesterday, today, it's going to be just a little bit warmer. we're going to back off on that wind. but we also are going to see numbers still about three to four degrees where we should be for early to mid september. partly cloudy this morning, looking at that breeze throughout the afternoon, especially at the coast and throughout the middle of the week we're not only going to see more sunshine, warmer air arrives and across the entire bay. it's going to get hot inland. look at current numbers now, look how cold it is in the north bay. just 50 in napa, 51 in santa rosa. it's 61 in san mateo. and certainly even cool for san jose at 56, 53 if gilroy. felt like fall yesterday. but, you know, our warmest weather is in september where san francisco averages a high of about 70 degrees. we'll be shy of that today, but nonetheless, you'll notice not much in the way of fog here. it's going to be wiped out once again. also with that september

forecast we get less of that up welling and our warmer air and the fog is not really with us for the next several months. but as for today it's scattered about. here's live doppler 7 to the north looking at a system that brought the cool down, rain throughout portland and seattle another and another system arriving monday reinforcing the cold air. the temperature trend in our east bay valleys, upper 80s, 80 today, tomorrow, cooler on tuesday as the next system comes in and then high pressure expands and allows for the warm to the arrive on wednesday. warmest day should be thursday, friday. we could see some upper 90s here and then just some slight cooling on saturday. that trend will be for the rest of the bay as well. certainly not in the 90s around the bay. warming up near 80. the coast maybe about 70 by later if the week. 73 in sunnyvale today. on the peninsula the sea breeze with redwood city at 07 shy of

the mid 70s where you should be for september. san francisco a little breezy, how about 65 in daly city, up in the north bay, 80 santa rosa, average highs 84, 77 novato and napa. breezy there. into the east bay look for 73, oakland has been nice with 74 in castro valley. if you want warmth you have to head inland and today we'll warm it up just a little bit. 71 yesterday in livermore. today we should see temperatures in the upper 70s, concord 79, about 80 in livermore. the accuweather seven-day forecast, 60s coast, about 70 around the bay. breezy in spots, low 80s inland. we'll hold on to the forecast for your monday. still below average on tuesday, returning warmer on wednesday and if you download our accuweather app track the temperatures hour by hour with the slower warmup today and the next few days, but with less fog and that warmer air mass moving in midweek we'll warm up quicker and see highs in the mid 90s and
