umbrellas, look what i dusted off. the storm impact scale. mainly for this morning. in most neighborhoods we have fog, mist and drizzle. it's enough that it's been measurable. then we'll have areas of steady rain as the cold front comes through. then some isolated showers and a slight chance of lightning in the north bay and the east bay. this is all mainly before noon. here's a look at san jose, 101 and 880, we had wet weather down in the south bay this morning. here is sfo, wet with some drizzle. the most or the best radar returns up near live doppler 7 in the north bay, this is when the steadier rain rolls in and a better chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm. the best chance is south of redding, it will be mainly in the central valley. so, as we head into the afternoon hours, things start to

clear out. then we will have breezy conditions develop from north to south. temperatures below average. half moon bay, san francisco, richmond, low 70s to mid 70s around the bay. we'll look at more areas where it's raining next. here's frances. >> starting off with a live shot of the traffic behind this mess in the fremont area. we have a traffic alert, northbound 680 d vargas. all lanes are stopped. our crew is stuck in this jam right now. avoid this mess altogether. this is northbound 680 approaching vargas. maybe consider niles canyon road as an alternate. in the same area there are a couple accidents reported southbound near sunol. that's affecting the commute in the southbound direction. tracking another jackknifed big rig in san bruno, westbound 380

past 101. apparently the two right lanes are blocked. earlier crash cleared, two earlier accidents cleared on highway 24, but westbound 24 is still struggling and slow. there is the traffic alert this morning, a spot you want to avoid, northbound 680, all lanes closed. no details on when it will reopen. you are dealing with slick roads, some very thick fog across the golden gate bridge. be extra careful. live shot of the bay bridge. traffic is moving well. delays are starting to grow at the bay bridge toll plaza. jobina fortson is trying to get to that accident scene on northbound 680. how close are you now? >> hi, good morning. i'm literally just a few feet off of the on-ramp to get on to northbound 680. i'm sitting in between the freeway and the on-ramp because it is a parking lot.

completely stopped all the traffic here. this situation began around 1:45 this morning. a tractor trailer that was carrying fuel jackknifed, blocked initially two of the northbound lanes, now all of the lanes are closed here. three other cars were involved in the crash. just so that we can get an idea of what they're dealing with up there, that tanker spilled fuel all over the roadway. we're hearing 8,600 gallons of fuel is all over right now. a hazmat team has been called in. all traffic is being diverted off of the freeway at vargas road. there is at this point not an estimated time of when this will reopen. as i heard frances mention this morning, niles canyon road is a good alternate for people so you don't get stuck in this mess. also it is raining. so the ground is slick, just making driving conditions a bit tougher for everyone.

as soon as i get an update or move an inch i'll let you know. >> people a walking around on the roads. not a good sign. we'll continue to follow this. thank you. developing this morning a santa rosa man could be facing murder charges in the death of a 13-month-old boy. >> on saturday police found the baby and the man unconscious in a home and they couldn't revive the child. amy hollyfield is live in our newsroom with what police believe may have happened. >> good morning. what is shocking about this case is police believe drugs were involved in the baby's death. police say they found evidence of drugs in the room which may have killed the 13-month-old. they found the baby and 29-year-old patrick o'neill unconscious in the house. it's located in the 400 block of darek street in santa rosa. police got the call saturday afternoon. neighbors could not believe the news. >> just hear about a baby dying. it's like -- i mean, 13 months

old. that's, you know, terrible. very, very shocking for the neighborhood from talking to the neighbors. >> o'neill is in the hospital with life threatening injuries. police have not said what his relationship is to the baby. but they did say if he survives he will likely face a murder charge. reporting live in the newsroom, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. today in the north bay the novato school district will offer extra support to students after the death of a 14-year-old boy. a white car crashed into a brick wall yesterday. novato police say the 16-year-old driver was killed. two other 16-year-olds inside the car were hurt. police say the car was speeding before it veered off the road. the identities of the victims have not been released. counselors will be on hand today as students and staff return to a mill valley elementary school after a man was arrested on suspicion of attacking an uber driver and

stabbing a teen during a robbery. 18-year-old john santiago rosales punched the driver in the face as he rode in his car on east blythedale and alm avenue. minutes later there was reports of a teen robbed at park school. a man who uses his walk ser in critical condition after he was hit by a b.a.r.t. train at the balboa park station. the fire department says the man was on the flplatform when he fl into the tracks yesterday. the department tweeted out this photo of the rescue. medics took the man to san francisco general hospital. trains stopped running for about an hour. the front man for the cars has died. new york city police found him unresponsive in a manhattan townhouse. police do not suspect foul play was involved in his death. the band came out with six records between '78 and '87

and about. you will need it look how mild it is. we're in a soupy air mass. low to mid 60s on the peninsula with drizzle to light rain. we have low 60s for the entire bay area. upper 60s for antioch and concord. 62 in san rafael and santa rosa. let's look at the east bay. chance of drizzle through 7:00, showers through 9:00. after 10:00, we will see some drying and clearing that will push us up to 71. we may never completely get rid of the cloud cover. north bay, a chance of steadier rain through 7:00, showers at 9:00, by 11:00 you're seeing more sunshine, you're one of our warmer areas with mid to upper 70s. here's in san francisco, we're going to have temperatures in the mid 60s with drizzle to even some steadier rain through at least 10:00. by 11:00 we're seeing the clouds open for a little bit of sunshine. and temperatures hanging around about 71 degrees this afternoon.

pretty mild considering how much wet weather we're going to get this morning. let's turn it back over to francis and talk about the wet . >> we have a lot of problems out there. a new injury crash reported on westbound at the bay bridge toll plaza. it's a motorcycle injury crash. bridge crews are heading to the scene. apparently it's past the toll plaza in the r lane. we'll let you know what we see. you can see traffic is backing up quickly at the bay bridge toll plaza. so it will be not a great start at the bay bridge. it's been horrible all morning long. here's a live shot from jobina fortson heading to this traffic alert. this is in fremont northbound 680. you see those motorcycle riders turning around. all lanes have been completely shut down at vargas because of a jackknifed big rig. that leaked some fuel. i will show you what that looks like on the traffic maps. this is the spot to avoid. it's not moving at all. northbound 608 at vargas,

with a thunderstorm north and east in the bay area. here is the steadiest rain moving through the north bay. number three, one person died, four firefighters are in the hospital after a fire in downtown san jose. the person who died may have been armed and that made it harder to attack the flames. a 16-year-old driver is dead, two other teens are hurt after a crash in novato yesterday. number five, oil prices are up 20% after a major attack on oil facilities in saudi arabia. the u.s. is accusing iran of launching 20 drones and a dozen chriss al cruise missiles in that attack. number six, president trump will be in palo alto tomorrow for a fund-raiser. and christie brinkley will not be on this season of "dancing with the stars." she broke her arm during

side, look how wet it is at sfo. we had some drizzle there. we have the 1 on the storm impact scale. the cold front will bring us dry and breezy conditions. cooler than average after 1:00. warmer than average on friday, saturday, and sunday. this will one of those anomaly storms we have in september. pen grove and petaluma. getting some rain there. as we look out, this is the chance. you see the areas shaded where we could have thunderstorms. it does clip the north bay and parts of the east bay. 7:00 in the morning, still the cold front in the north bay. starting to push into the central parts of the bay. notice by 9:00, it's in the heart of the bay. the north bay clearing out. by the time we get to noon, everybody is clearing out by the south bay. you will clear out by 1:00.

bridge toll plaza. there is a new motorcycle injury crash past the tolls. we'll see things back up this morning at the bay bridge. this is the stretch we want you to avoid. northbound 608 at vargas. traffic is jammed getting to the scene. you may want to take 238 mission boulevard to niles canyon road. a sigalert has been issued. they expect lanes to be closed for a while. southbound 680 there's a crash there. new accident on north 101 at trimbull lane. in today's gma first look, a hollywood stunt woman is suing the producers of a film she worked on after a horrifying accident on set. >> in this morning's gma first look, stunt woman lawsuit. >> hear it happening to someone else, you think that's horrible.

you never think it's going to be you. >> reporter: olivia jack sson w a double on resident evil, the time chapter when she suffered a horrible injury. according to the lawsuit, jackson was scheduled to shoot a fight scene in september of 2015, but they switched to a dangerous and technically complex motorcycle scene. she says the camera was supposed to move before she reached it but it didn't lift in time. jackson collided with the camera at full speed. >> the next thing i remember, i woke up three weeks later after being in a coma. then saw my -- sorry. >> it's all coming up at >> you probably have seen them on the back of peoples phones, there's a new use for pop sockets. and a grandmother armed with a hair dryer. look, she got the cup.

. want to show you some areas where we have drizzle falling. look at san jose, 280 at 17. it's wet this morning. here's a look at the golden gate bridge, also wet this morning from drizzle. at least no fog to speak of. now, that's not the case around places like the caldecott where the visibility was a couple hundred feet when i came through there because of the mist and drizzle. when we look at visibilities, we're not only looking at fog but also looking at mist and drizzle. so, when you're down to two miles in hayward and three at sfo, we have a good swath of mist and drizzle falling on the san mateo bridge and the dumbarton bridge. that will keep sliding south into. south bay.

moving any time soon. it's a total parking lot here. to bring everyone up to speed, around 1:45 this morning is when the situation began. a tractor trailer that was carrying fuel jackknifed, blocked initially two of the northbound lanes, now all of the lanes are blocked. we're hearing up to 8,600 gallons of fuel spilled all over the roadway. a hazmat team has been called in. all traffic is being diverted off of the freeway at vargas road. there is no estimated time when this will reopen. here's some alternate routes, you cannot move. if you think you can potentially crawl through, it's not going to happen. i came to a screeching halt as soon as i got on to 680. alternates are niles canyon, and also the chp is telling people to use 880 for the northbound commute just avoid 680 altogether if you can. >> what a mess. okay. we'll continue to follow this

throughout the morning. hopefully some miracle will happen and this will clean up faster. thank you. an 11-year-old boy from tiburon died after a boating mishap near angel island. the marin county sheriff's office says two children were thrown off the boat into the water around 7:00 last night. rescue efforts were made to get the children out of the way, somehow the boat hit the kids. one of them died. the other child was taken to the hospital. their condition is not known. a possible shooting in santa clara county outside of san jose. deputies blocked off part of stewart avenue between rose and alum rock avenue with crime scene tape. medics could be seen treating one person at the scene. we reached out for more information on what happened. we will keep you updated when we get more information. in san jose, arson investigators are trying to learn more about a fire that killed one person and injured four firefighters.

the fire broke out around 5:30 last night. the flames raced through an adult bookstore and a liquor store. neighbors say that an eviction noce was posted on the book store's door. police had reports that someone was inside the book store and was armed. that delayed firefighters. >> he was at least armed with a sledgehammer is the report we got. we moved slowly. the police were outside ready to come in to assist us. we never found anybody. >> i think he was having difficulties with a couple things. people trying to shut him down with the business maybe. >> firefighters discovered a body in the basement. they suspect that person may be the bookstore's owner. no word on how the injured firefighters are doing this rn police and arson investigators trying to learn more about fire that killed a person and injured four firefighters. it sta we just told you about that. i'll move on.

oil prices jumped significantly after a major attack on an oil facility in saudi arabia. >> the u.s. is accusing iran of taking out the world's biggest procesng plant. with half of oil production offline, prices are up 20% as markets reopen today. senior u.s. officials tell abc news they believe iran launched 20 drones and a dozen cruise missiles in that attack. >> just a few days ago the administration was talking about lifting sanctions and having discussions with the iranians. now we're as close to an armed conflict in the persian gulf as we have been in decades. >> president trump says he is waiting on word from saudi arabia on the next move and he warns that the u.s. is locked and loaded to respond. iranian officials deny involvement in that attack. brett kavanaugh is facing calls for impeachment after another allegation of inappropriate sexual behavior. it's from a "new york times" essay that was published on saturday. that claims a former yale

classmate saw kavanaugh expose himself in the 1980s. the fbi did not investigate. he said cavanaugh's friends pushed him into a female friend's hands. her friend says she does not remember the incident. several 2020 democratic candidates voiced their opposition against kavanaugh. >> i strongly opposed him based on his views on the executive power which will continue to haunt our country as well as how he behaved, including the allegations that we are hearing more about. >> senator elizabeth warren tweeted like the man who appointed him, kavanaugh should be impeached. kavanaugh supporters say the times essay, which is adapted from an upcoming book does not tell the full story. president trump defended him on twitter saying he is an innocent man who was treated horribly. happening today, the nfl is

steadier rain or showers. the storm impact scale is on this. it is impacting a lot of us. just about all of us. comfortable highs through thursday. warmer than average for friday, saturday, sunday. here's the steadiest of the showers up across the north bay. this is where they'll stay for the better part of the morning commute with some isolated areas of showers south of that. now, we have the chance where you see the shade here of some thunderstorms. it's northern sonoma and napa county. eastern contra costa county where we could have a chance of a thunderstorm. you can see right there some yellow developing at 7:00 along the cold front. watch as we slide down to the south at 9:00. it's in the heart of the bay and south of the bay. by noon, we're starting to see the showers move out of the south bay and during the afternoon hours, that's when everything will be dry, breezy and you will need the sunglasses once again. we'll wake up in the 40s and 50s tomorrow with dry air. quite a contrast from today.

slow, 34 minutes. northbound 85, highway 101 to cupertino, that's moving along at 16 minutes, northbound 101 is heavy now through san jose. this is a live shot past the 880 overcrossing. that's because of an accident at trimble. we have a couple accidents in fremont. that's slowing things down on west downbound 80 approaching 7. numerous accidents out there. give yourselves extra time this morning. a hot day in nashville got even hotter for the tennessee titans. the titans used flame-throwing boxes to shoot fire into the air five minutes before kickoff against the colts yesterday. because why wouldn't you but one of them tipped over and it set the turf on fire. the flames didn't put a stop to the show. the national anthem was sung, workers extinguished the flames and nobody was hurt. >> what is this man fanning? >> from the stands?
