now at 6:00, after a hot weekend rain is returning to the bay area for your monday morning commute. and our golden gate, bay and san mateo bridge cameras are showing it's wet outside. >> it'sslick, we're seeing a number of crashes on the highways. we don't want that to be you. please berel. good morning on this monday, september 16th. >> you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. here's mike. >> hi, guys. let's look at that cell that is just off the marin county coast in san francisco all the way down to about pacifica. we'll keep an eye on this. it will be moving in. that will create maybe a bit of ponding on the roadways. it will bring us heavier rain and drizzle and mist. here's a look at the san mateo bridge. wet weather there. because of this, i put the storm impact scale on it. we'll have some areas of steadier rain like we're seeing in the north bay for the rest of us as we head throughout the

morning hours. even an isolated shower. that's 101 in the south bay. it is wet also. expect wet weather through noon. frances? >> mike, we're tracking numerous problems. our biggest is northbound 680 sunol. traffic is being detoured off the freeway. northbound 680 at vargas, things are crawling because of an accident involving a jackknifed tractor trailer and a fuel spill. traffic crawling through the sunol grade. here's a live shot of the scene. northbound traffic not getting by at all. it's going to take a while to clear this one. 885 might be an alternate. northbound 101 jammed in san jose because of an accident. traffic is heavy from highway 85 to the san jose airport. more accidents out there and lots of other slow spots. those are m doing ucoming

>> jobina fortson has been stuck in that backup for a while. >> we talked to her two times before. every time she was not able to move. any progress? >> no progress unfortunately. it's still a parking lot down here. we were able to get some clarify keg from the chp, not long ago. they tell us it will take hours to clear all of this up. they also clarified how much fuel has spilled. 4,000 gallons is what they clarified is the amount that spilled all over the roadways here. to catch everyone up on the situation, it started around 1:45 this morning. a tractor trailer that was carrying fuel jackknifed, another truck clipped punctured the part of the truck that was carrying that fuel.

a hazmat is here cleaning up. all traffic is being diverted off of the freeway at vargas road. there is at this point not an estimated time of when this will reopen. 880 is the way to go, regardless if you're in this backup, it's going to be very slow if not impossible to get through. >> thanks. it is 6:03. happening right now, vallejo firefighters have a three alarm fire under control at an abandon building. this is video from overnight. flames broke out 10:30 last night that was a compare on the former naval shipyard. crews contained the fire about three hours latelater. the interior is expected to burn a few more hours. it's not clear if anyone was hurt. developing this morning a santa rosa man could be facing murder charges in the death of a

13-month-old boy. >> on saturday police found the baby and the man unconscious in a home and they couldn't revive the child. amy hollyfield is live in our newsroom with what police believe may have happened. >> police believe drugs played a role in the baby's death. i just checked in with police. the man has not been booked into jail yet. he is still in the hospital. but the baby died. neighbors can't believe it. they say they wish they had known or could have helped. it happened in a house on the 400 block of darek street in san jose. a woman related to the baby called police sat afternoon. police found 29 patrick o'neill and a 13-month-old baby unconscious in a bedroom. they also found signs of recent drug use next to where the baby was found. >> our belief is as a result of his action the baby passed away. if we would have known about it, we would have called. >> police have not said what the relationship is between the child and o'neill.

they do plan to book him into jail once he's medically cleared from the hospital. he could face a murder charge. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. today in the north bay the novato school district will offer extra support to students after the death of a 16-year-old boy. a white four door car crashed into a brick wall at simmons lane and marion avenue yesterday. the 16-year-old driver was killed. two other 16-year-olds in the car were hurt. police say the car was speeding before it veered off the road. the identities of the victims have not been released. counselors will be on hand today as students and staff return to a mill valley elementary school after a man was arrested on suspicion of attacking an uber driver and stabbing a teen during a robbery. police say that 18-year-old john santiago rosales punched the driver in the face as he rode in his car on east blythedale and elm avenue. minutes later there was reports

of a teen robbed at park school. the teen is okay. the suspect turned himself in yesterday. he faces charges of battery and assault with a deadly weapon. ric ocasek the front man for the cars has died. new york city police found him unresponsive in a manhattan townhome. the band came out with six records between 1978 and 1987 including my best friend's girl and just what i needed. ric ocasek was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame last year. he was 75. steph curry is hitting the links today for a good cause. the foundation he and his wife run will hold the first ever stefan curry charity classic at harding park in san francisco. the goal is to raise $1 million to benefit youth programs to end childhood hunger, education and other initiatives. oracle's open world conference kicks off in san francisco today. it draws in tens of thousands of people. if you're in the area expect heavy traffic. howard street will remain open but surrounding streets will be

solano county. out of the bay, by about 12:30, 1:00, into the monterey bay. here are the rainfall totals. a couple hundredths of an inch of rain. temperatures in the 60s and 70s. 60s at the coast. 70s at the bay. 80s inland. warmer than average friday, saturday, sunday. it will be wet this morning. that means accidents. here's frances. >> the biggest accident is northbound 680, sunol. there's a big rig accident blocking all lanes. traffic alert has been issued. it will be closed for a while. it's a crawl heading to the area. you want to avoid that mess. it's even affecting the southbound traffic as well. so you may want to consider 880 to 580. there's some slowing there as well. and there's also a new crash reported southbound 880 in hayward. eastbound 580 making your way towards dublin, there's an accident that will slow you

gallons of fuel tt spilled all over the roadway here. this situation began around 1:45 this morning. a tractor trailer that was carrying fuel jackknifed, blocked initially two of the northbound lanes, then another thanker clipped the tractor trailer which punctured the portion of the truck carrying that fuel and that spilled all over here. no serious injuries. but it is a mess out here. such a parking lot. there's cars everywhere. now that the sun is coming up, people are starting to get brave enough to try to turn around and drive the opposite way on northbound 680 to get off on the on-ramp here. here's what the chp had to say about all the fuel. >> they will be out here cleaning up with absorbent. hopefully we can get this cheeped up before tcheep ed cleaned up before the rains come. >> the hazmat crew is out here

680 in sunol because of a big rig accident and an oil tanker fuel spill. northbound 680 is closed after vargas since 1:45 this morning. we're hearing from the chp, they hope to have one lane, just one, reopened at 8:30 possibly this morning. so you know this will be a big mess. it will be out there for a while. i'll show you wither it is on the maps. it's causing massive delays on northbound 680 out of fremont. southbound 680 also a mess through sunol backed up into pleasanton. consider 880 and 580 as an alternate. we had problems there as well. also southbound 880 a crawl though san leandro and hayward with numerous accidents. numerous accidents around the east bay. lots of slowing. northbound 101 in san jose is recovering from an earlier crash. a new injury accident northbound 17 making your way out of the santa cruz mountains.
