really eye opening. >> it is. here are the report. it says the cell phones also contain video of the suspects in rome and text messages to a friend back in the bay area describing events as they unfold leading up to the officer's death. both of the young men suspected in the death of an italian police officer on july 26th are being held at this prison in central rome. 19-year-old finn elder from san francisco admits stabbing the officer but claims self defense and he didn't know that he was police. 18-year-old gabriel natali from mill valley is being held as an accessory. he struggled and his partner ran off. natali's attorneys plan to ask for his release to home confinement. his grandfather has a seaside villa an hour from the prison. over the weekend investigators released a 75-page report with some photos, videos and texts from the cell phones. they show the young men with guns inside, outside, driving in

a car with guns, also with knives and drugs. both are pictured with what appears to be marijuana, cocaine and prescription medications and some messages on the photos suggest they may have been selling drugs. investigators conclude the evidence supports the serious indications of guilt that have already emerged natali's attorneys called off today's hearing to ask for home detention. he said he saw the report with the photos on friday, was not able to see natale until this morning and he needs to analyze the documents with his client and experts. investigators also have recovered videos that show the young men in rome before the killing. elder and natale hiding one popular spot called the ice bar. a series of whatsapp messages between finn elder and his girlfriend lead up to what led up to the incident. gabe just got robbed.

b.a.r.t., however, was saying that it was a pg&e issue that was causing that. now developing news on the peninsula. the murder trial for a hillsborough heiress and her boyfriend has been delayed by a week. we learned that a plea deal for olivier adella has been revoked. li and bayat are being tried for the murder of keith greene, who was the father of li's two children. earlier this year adella admitted to dumping green's body. new details and new video on a tragedy on the bay. you're looking at investigators onboard a boat that was involved in a deadly incident over the weekend. the 11-year-old boy went overboard from his father's boat and was then run over and killed. that father now faces manslaughter charges. wayne freedman is in san rafael

with more. >> reporter: good evening. the suspect left the jail about an hour ago after posting a $1 million bail. he's a well known and respected resident of tiburon and belvedere. his family owns hotels in mexico. in a neighborhood of spectacular homes, it may be the nicest of them all. that did not keep tiburon police and sheriff's deputies from serving a search warngt on it today. they would not say what they were looking for but what led to it is catastrophic on multiple levels. >> it's a tragedy. we're all heartsick about this. it's something that's every parent's worst nightmare. >> reporter: but that did not keep police from going to this house and arresting javier barillo.

his 27-year-old suffered severe cuts from the propellers. his 11-year-old died. >> there was a possibility that they were immediately swept under the boat when they went off the bow or they were hit when he turned the boat to rescue them. >> reporter: after the accident he pulled his sons from the water and hurried back to the yacht club and called for help. when police tested him for the presence of alcohol, he exceeded the legal limit. they arrested him in his home and took him to county jail. tiburon police are treating the case the same as they would a drunken driver fatality. >> nobody wants to contribute to the unspeakable pain he is in, we're sympathetic. but the officers in interviewing him determined they had probable cause to make an arrest for intoxication. we have a duty, we're sworn to enforce the law. >> reporter: the chief tells us that according to his records, this is the first manslaughter

case in tiburon or belvedere in a decade. live in san rafael, wayne freedman, abc 7 news. happening now, a day of action when it comes to immigration policies in the united states. activists are gathering right now at 24th and mission streets in san francisco, and that's where abc 7 news reporter luz pena is reporting tonight. luz? >> reporter: dan, the march began around 11:00 a.m. this morning. you can still see some people gathered back here. we met many parents, teachers, students, and many of them with personal stories. this chant overtook the heart of san francisco's mission district. adults led the way. >> brick by brick, wall by wall -- >> reporter: high schoolers marched telling their stories. >> are you afraid your parents will be deported one day? >> yeah. >> reporter: and fourth graders, well, they came out in full force along with some of their

parents. >> you're super passionate. why? >> because we want to immigrants because they're sleeping on hard ground, they sleep on foil and we want to save the immigrants. >> reporter: activists marched from 24th street in the mission district to city hall where san francisco's mayor, london breed, and local politicians reiterated their support for the immigrant community in san francisco. >> when it comes to protecting our immigrant communities, there is no differences. we stand strong and we stand proud. >> in california, we have passed all the state laws that we possibly can to do everything we can to protect our immigrants, protect our immigrant students, to protect immigrants that want to get health care. >> reporter: around three months ago the trump administration announced it will allow for officials to hold families in detention centers indefinitely while their cases are being reviewed by a judge. the chairman of the san francisco republican party agrees. >> well, we have two choices.

the president's visit to the bay area tomorrow are few and far between, and that's by design. >> we're glad to have a president that comes here to lend some support to the republican cause in our state. >> reporter: shane patrick connelly, chairman of the santa clara county republican party is volunteering at tomorrow's fund-raiser for the president's re-election. >> some people on the left have proven that they are not willing to let people gather peaceably and hear the candidate of their choice, that they will attack them physically. >> reporter: sources tell abc news the event could be in palo alto and protesters are preparing to mobilize. thousands of dollars have been raised campaign to fund the flying of this baby trump balloon. another group called vigil for democracy will bring its inflatable chicken trump to protest the president. >> he was the political outsider last time, he got a lot of free media. it's going to be a very different campaign for him this time around. >> reporter: this is president trump's first visit to the bay

show you the help that will arrive starting tomorrow. anser. >> reporter: one of the major on stacks homeless people face is trying to keep their clothes and body clean. this mobile unit gives them a chance to have a shower and do landry, simple tasks for people who have no place to go. craig johnson has lived in fremont since 1968 and has been homeless the past few years. he said being homeless is tough, but what most people don't realize is just how hard it is to keep clean. >> it's pretty hard. i've got a lot of friends because i've lived here this long. but especially younger people, they don't have nowhere to go. >> reporter: while the city works on ways to get people off the street, they're hoping this new mobile hygiene trailer will at least provide some assistance. >> i think the goals are really to provide dignity and a more healthy environment for our homeless residents.

>> reporter: inside the unit there are two full bathrooms. people will be given 15 minutes for a shower. city officials say it's a way to help people stay clean, which they say can be a major obstacle for those out on the street. >> a lot of our homeless work, and having access to a shower to be able to be clean and have clean clothes, because we do landry as well as showers, is really important. >> reporter: the trailer won't just serve fremont but newark as well. this man who didn't want to talk on camera says these services just aren't enough, but tackling the homeless problem requires multiple approaches. this is just one of them. >> the idea is to provide showers at a site at least hopefully twice a week so people can get two showers a week. >> reporter: the unit will visit sites that already assist homeless people such as churches. once it's up and running, they hope to provide services twice a day, monday through friday.

anser hassan, abc 7 news. >> the mobile hygiene unit will be parked behind city hall where fremont will build its first homeless navigation center despite protests. another aspect to building a better bay area is your safety. concord is using new technology to better connect with you in an emergency. for the first time police dispatchers can receive text messages sent to 911 from cell phone users. calling 911 is still the fastest way to get help. if you've texting 911, concord police want you to provide your exact location and tell them what kind of help you need. don't send pictures, videos or emojis. happening today is mexico's independence day and the start of national hispanic heritage month from there was no better place to celebrate this than a middle school in oakland. >> reporter: there's a popular mexican saying, which means full stomach, happy heart. so for these kids whose families

so much for the morning bike ride. >> we even saw snow falling in the sierra today. this is just over 7,000 feet on highway 267. >> abc 7 news meteorologist drew tuma is here to let us know what to expect this week in the weather. >> the seasons are certainly changing. we had wet weather with level 1 on the storm impact scale. behind that cold front that brought the rain, it's going to be a cool night. live doppler 7, all the showers have moved out and the skies are clearing. rainfall amounts really light, what you would expect with a level 1 storm. you see numbers less than a tenth of an inch of rain so it did make for a slower morning commute. tomorrow morning you have no wet weather to deal with. the picture outside from our east bay hills camera as we pan around, a lot of sunshine, dry skies to finish out our monday but it certainly felt like fall earlier today with temperatures only in the 60s and the 70s. so we'll take a look at the accuweather highlights, what you can expect the next couple of days. we will find areas of fog close

to the coastline, otherwise a pretty chilly night. some cities will dip into the 40s over the next 12 hours. tomorrow a lot of sunshine, it will be a breezy day and winds will keep temperatures below average. then as we fast forward into wednesday morning, there's another chance of finding some rain. this time pretty much confined to the north bay and very light in general. right now it's comfortably cool, 69 in oakland, 66 in the city, 70 in novato, 71 in san jose. brentwood at 72 and santa rosa coming in 1 degree shy of 70 at 69 degrees. so overnight tonight we'll see a little cloud cover, some patchy fog along the coast line. otherwise plenty of stars with clear skies in the north bay. so a chilly start for some. mid-50s for otheg afternoon shaping up to be a really nice day.shine b n oakla san jose, about 81 in santa

rosa. fast forward the clock to wednesday morning and here comes another weak front moving through. you can see by 8:00, 9:00 as the morning drive is under way, an isolated shower in the north bay and then that front just fizzles out. by midday we are drying out and it looks like much of the region will remain dry outside of the north bay but a lot of cloud cover on wednesday will keep temperatures on the cool side for september so we're keeping that below average streak for the next several days. it's bright and breezy on your tuesday. there's a chance of a sprinkle. the best in the north bay on wednesday, otherwise a mix of sun an clouds for us. thursday sunnier and mild. on the weekend, it's mild to warm, 80s to low 90s, just in time for autumn, very early monday morning, not feeling like autumn at all, still summer in the 80s and 90s, guys. well, we are counting down to tonight's premiere of "dancing with the stars." >> t

sky 7 is live over that breaking news. the south hayward b.a.r.t. station has just reopened in the last 15 minutes. >> it closed because there was a fire and downed pg&e power lines near the station just before 6:00 p.m. hayward firefighters and pg&e crews are both on scene. >> rebecca tweeted these photos of the commuters that were stuck. again, the station is open but watch out for delays. it may soon cost a little more to fill up your gas tank. oil prices are on the rise. >> the trump administration has blamed iran for the attack, a claim the regime denies. serena marshall is in washington with the latest. >> reporter: the fire burning, smoke from the facility seen from space after a strike on a saudi oil facility that put more than half of saudi arabia's oil production offline. these satellite images released by american officials show the damage of the processing plant and oil field considered the heart of the kingdom's supply.

>> certainly it would look to most like it was iran. we have to find out definitively who did it. we have to speak to saudi arabia. >> reporter: the u.s. waiting on verification from saudi arabia. their minister of energy seen here touring the facilities, and the head of their military has confirmed that iranian weapons were used, but they have yet to accuse anyone of actually executing the attack. yemen's houthi rebel group has taken credit for the attack but the u.s. says there's no evidence they did it, instead laying the blame on iran. >> i hope our international partners will join us in imposing consequences on iran for this reckless, destabilizing attack. >> reporter: a senior administration official says they have intelligence that shows a highly coordinated attack launched from iranian soil. tehran denies any involvement. having failed at max pressure, now turning to max deceit. following a meeting between the

president and members of his national security team, mark esper said they are working to figure out how to respond to this unprecedented attack. meanwhile the saudi foreign minister said they will allow u.n. investigators in to see the site but added they need no help in defending themselves. serena marshall, abc news, washington. general motors workers in 19 states including california are on the picket lines tonight. nearly 50,000 members of united autoworkers walked off the job at midnight. they are striking against america's biggest automaker because they say gm is putting profits ahead of employees who helped turn the company around during its bankruptcy and federal bailout. the union wants higher hourly wages and a better profit-sharing plan. >> striking is not good for any of us, it's all bad. but i want to get back to work fairly. i want my brothers and sisters treated right. we want fair and equitable wages. get back to work. >> gm says it made a strong

offer that included a pay hike and investment to bring new jobs. negotiations have been tense but they continue. one firefighter is dead and six others hurt after a gas explosion in farmington, maine. officials think the explosion was caused by a propane leak. megan tevrizian is in new york with the latest. >> reporter: this debris littering the ground is all that's left of a building in farmington, maine, after a gas explosion. >> it was just total devastation. i've been in law enforcement 35 years and have never seen anything like this before in my life, except overseas. it was horrible. >> reporter: video showing the structure completely destroyed. neighbors comparing the damage to a war zone. >> it just looked like a snowstorm, all this insulation that was coming up and coming in the air. sorng the responding to war eport gassmell. mont before the blast. the explosion so powerful people saying they felt it in

neighboring towns. >> i was just sitting there and then i heard like a bang in my windows and the back glass door was shaking. >> reporter: the explosion killing michael bell. his colleagues pausing to pay respects as his body is removed from the scene, and later lining up outside the medical examiner's office for a procession to the funeral home. >> we all know the fireman that was killed today and it affects us tremendously. >> reporter: six others were injured and taken to area hospitals, most were burn victims. this happened at the identify of leap, inc. >> we'll put the pieces back together that we get from the puzzle. given the circumstances we have right now, it's just an unknown. >> reporter: preliminary reports lead toward a propane or natural gas leak believed to be an accident. employees inside the building smelled propane and evacuated

before the explosion. megan tevrizian, abc news, new york. developing news, governor newsom today issued an executive order to confront the youth vaping epidemic. this the same day that county health officials confirmed a person has died after complications related to using e-cigarettes. the governor's order includes placing warning signs on retailers and labels on packaging. a $20 million public awareness campaign on the dangers of vaping and increasing enforcement to remove illegal vaping products. >> a governor alone is not afforded the right legally to ban those products outright that we would need legislative support. >> governor newsom says he'd absolutely sign a bill to ban flavored cigarettes if one landed on his desk. juul labs has 75% of the e-cigarette market. the company agreed with the governor saying there's a need to crack down on knockoff vaping

>> reporter: but what has never made sense to the owners is the nickname of where their cafe is located, along north shattuck avenue known as the gourmet ghetto. >> to have it up on banners, to have it on websites, that adds insult to the injury. >> reporter: the word "ghetto" has a lot of history attached to it, not all of it positive. >> especially to black and brown people in america, it's salt in the wound. >> reporter: so trisha nicholas sent a formal request to the north shattuck association asking for the elimination of the term he and others find offensive. >> i'm on the side i think it should change. >> reporter: but overkill to others. >> it just seems ridiculous. there's so many things that divide us. it's really we're going to talk about this as an issue? >> reporter: perhaps what is most distressing to the owners is that by speaking out with the intention of making change in their neighborhood, their employees have experienced hateful pushback. >> we've had a couple of our employees actually harassed on the street by folks. >> i'm actually ashamed that i

thought she had done everything just right after she received her fraud alert. the bank, well, it had a different opinion. she works in the fast-paced world of biotech. to keep up, she has to be quick on her feet. but one thing she has never mastered is being in two places at one time. she recalls being in downtown san francisco one day when her phone buzzed. >> and i got a fraud alert on my phone. so i called the bank and they said that there was some potential fraud activity happening. >> reporter: she went home and looked up her account online. she saw $3700 worth of unauthorized activity in southern california. >> i was in san francisco using my debit card. this was happening in west hollywood. that's what triggered a fraud alert. >> someone withdrew $700 from various atms in southern california. there were also three withdrawals totaling $2,950 made inside two different bank branches over three consecutive

days. she immediately blocked her card and initiated a fraud claim. the bank reversed the atm charges within 24 hours, but the check fraud department refused to do the same for the other charges. she appealed. after more than two months, the bank again ruled against her. she could appeal again if she could prove her whereabouts. >> prove that i was not in southern california, prove that i didn't travel back and forth to southern california, prove that i didn't give my card to my husband and send him to southern california. >> that seemed unfair. >> they basically put the burden of proof on me to prove i didn't commit the fraud. i turned into the criminal somewhere along the line and i'm not sure how that happened. >> instead of appealing a second time, she contacted 7 on your side and we notified bank of america. within 24 hours, b of a reversed its decision. the bank told us additional video surveillance revealed proof that the person making the withdrawals was someone other than our customer.
