bullet flew over his head. >> shooting near east san fernando street, left nearby structure riddled with bullet holes. police still searching for the gunman. amanda del castillo is live. >> reporter: as you can imagine, library is usually packed with people at 6:21 in the afternoon, when this happened. windows seventh and eighth floors hit by bullets. we were the only station to speak with a freshman who had a terrifying front row seat. >> studying thursday afternoon. picked a desk next to window for view of downtown san jose. 6:21, bullet passed over his head. showed this photo of the damage. >> huge hole in the glass above where my head is. realize there's glass all over me, the desk, the floor and we all just ducked, dropped down.

>> reporter: heard several shots. didn't stick around to learn where they landed. >> crawling over glass, grab my stuff, throw in my bag and ran for the elevators. >> reporter: police confirm multiple rounds hit the library and building across the street. students not surprised but concerned. >> walking around downtown is a little bit dangerous but the library should have been safe place. >> reporter: this alert went out warning people to stay out of the area. but across the street neighbors knew nothing. she was on the way to library to return a book with granddaughter. >> hearing did you get the alert, good for them, but i'm so close. >> bruno was closer. won't be returning to the library. his farewell involved plenty of fear. >> couple of feet down, could

have been gotten shot in the head. >> reporter: fortunately nobody was hurt, unclear where the shots were fired from, who is responsible. amanda del castillo, abc7 news. new details about another scare at san jose state, 17-year-old student arrested yesterday after investigators exposed a violent threat on social media against a student at cupertino one of the students received violent threats on social media from a freshman at san joe state. officers began searching for the suspect. university police located him on the south campus of the university. >> went to class, made contact, took him into custody without incident. ws in possession of a fully loaded hand gun. >> and magazines with rounds of ammunition, weapon unregistered,

texas area with live doppler 7 right now. taking you back in time 12 hours, just getting severe amounts of rain and flooding across that region, has quieted down but left mark. fourth wettest tropical storm for texas, seventh wettest in u.s. history. reporting a number of flash floods, casualties, one unfortunately, multiple reports of injuries. rainfall projection, lighter tomorrow into saturday but any rain on saturated ground will only make matters worse. eastern texas into louisiana could be talking about up to a foot of rain. ama. happening now, there's some very good news at san francisco international airport, live look at sfo where the runway construction project that's been the source of thousands of flight delays and cancellations is finished a week early.

diversity in the tech industry. kris reyes tells us about a program that gives young black men the skills to become leaders and entrepreneurs. >> reporter: nearly 100 students with a dream and now the skills to turn their ideas in reality. >> we are an organization that trains and mentors black male youth, entrepreneurship and leadership skills. >> reporter: one of the founders of the program hatched over a conversation with friends in 2012 about lack of opportunities in tech industry for young black men. >> frankly tech is a booming industry, and why aren't we represented? >> reporter: every year the project takes a new batch of students 13 to 17 and puts them through a 15 month immersion program. two of the budding entrepreneurs. >> built a website, sneaker heads can buy and resell shoes
