ve look ode. through the noon hour, upper 70s and low 80s. plenty of sunshine. we're in the 70s at the coast. near 90 inland we'll talk about that cooler sunday in a few minutes. liz. >> sounds good. thanks lisa. now abc 7 news is committed to building a better bay area. as part of the commitment we focus on transportation like b.a.r.t. one of the biggest issues playing the agency is fare' innovation. cracking down, b.a.r.t. tried different gates with mixed results. next woke the b.a.r.t. board of directors will vote on three brand-new great designs. abc 7 news reporter luz pena spoke to riders four the reaction. >> some use the clipper card. others jump the gate. fare ee ration innovations are the recent behind the options that the board of directors will vote on. >> i believe we had 89% of the people surveyed believed it was important to reduce fare

instead 150 students got an extra hour of gym. a seventh grade math teacher was on leave two weeks. they couldn't find substitutes. parents said they had no idea. >> i didn't get an email. usually i i get the email going on with the students and teachers. but i didn't get the email as well. >> that's an area we dropped the ball on. >> vallejo is facing the same challenges as other districts, a lot of openings and not enough applicants to fill them. >> now, the wheel mobile rolled in the bay area looking for contestants. drew tuma was there as folks tried out for the game at gratin resort and casino in rohnert park. >> the crowd was pumped as the doors opened. some, though, have been here before. previous winner eric had this advice for hopefuls. >> you got to be, you know, loud and boisterous and make sure you stand out. and be a smart, smart wheel

flow is with us allowing for the heat to return. numbers well above average, a lot of sunshine out there. right now in the upper 50s in hayward. pa in mountain view. 50 in napa. look at the 48 treeings at the coast. certainly a cool start. but we recover into readings that will certainly bring us into high fire danger. so our highlights, warming trend continues today. autumn arrives monday. and looking at the high fire danger into tabwednesday where some areas could flirt with 100 degrees inland. we see the warm weather all the way to the coast. it has been warm. but today limited change as our sea breeze will be weak. if you want to head to the beach how about low 70s there atce bech. 76 in half moon bay. 84 in santa cruz and the ocean temperature still cool at 59 degrees. the changes arrive tomorrow. low clouds and fog with us through the overnight hours. lougt for that cooldown but then high clouds as well. numbers come down considerably

on sunday. we have the one day of warmth today. then don't get too used to the cooldown. because look at next week. the first day of autumn, numbers at about low 90s in concord, livermore, look as we head into tuesday. the numbers climb, in fact we could see near 100-degree heat and the warmth moves across the bay. we are talking upper 80s around the bay on tuesday. mid-70s at the coast. so that's comfortable. butt heat continues into wednesday. this is that offshore flow. at this point winds don't look too strong. but enough to be watching for sure. with that rain that last week helped us out but this is when we get the hot temperatures. in san jose look at the trend. we should be 80. but 90 today. numbers coming down a little bit tomorrow. by monday still wa tuesday dedneay whee t build in entire bay area. how about 87 today? fremont? 88 in vallejo. 8 oh in richmond low to mid-80s

from san mateo to palo alto today. and san jose reaching about 90 degrees. so certainly a warm one out there. the accuweather seven-day forecast looking at 70s at the shoreline. beautiful beach day. mid-80s around the bay. mid-90s inland. briefly cooler tomorrow as the on shore flow kicks up. but not a lot of fog. but autumn the numbers return to warmer readings on monday. you download the accuweather app track the temperatures which should be the hottest tuesday into wednesday with some breezy offshore winds and lacking at the much cooler weather even maybe a few rain drops in the end of the woke. quarter of inch an rain is average for september. we had that but we focus on the heat this week. >> nice to have better sleeping weather as you said coming up. >> the nights will be cool for sure. >> thanks, lisa. >> and fire officials caution that the weather in the next few days could be extremely dangerous. leading to an early warning and response in the north bay. abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman explains. >> reporter: it has become an

extreme measure. pg&e turning off power to prevent ignition of wildfires. now a new twist. an early notification before a warning. >> any of our customers could be impacted. >> blame the dries grass, the warm weather, the electrical power lines, a fire triangle likely to materialize early next week which prompted an early warning on twitter from the santa rosa fire department. >> so you can do exactly what we want people to do, be prepared. >> the tweet cites the early report from pg&e about elevated fire conditions that mights haase cause the utility to cut power in an area rage ranging from the bay area to the sierra foothill, a public safety power cut off. or psps. >> what's notable about in is it's the first of the year in insomnia an county but not the first of the year in the region. you can ask east napa all about that. remember june 8th? >> no power, no internet, no nothing. so we got to go. >> that was marguerita sanchez last june as they cut power near

and next tuesday, san jose city leaders will vote on whether or not they will continue a program that makes it more attractive for. ursday morning protesters gathered in front of city hall urging the city council to cancel the program. the money from the fees is supposed to help build affordable housing. protesters say the city stands to lose $57 million in developer fees, advocates for the program say that if developers don't get the housing built it doesn't matter either way sfl we call it a cascade ekt effect where higher income he earn he is if there is not sufficient housing they kablize existing housing that makes it harder forelower income families who can't compete for many apartments across the city. >> if the program isn't renewed the city runs the risk of losing out on 3500 housing units currently in he works downtown. california has filed suit to try to stop the trump administration from revoking the state's authority to set emissions standards for considers and trucks.
