debris in the two left lanes near north maine. you are hitting those breaks as soon as you leave concord towards walnut creek. so about a 25-minute drive time south now to get from concord over towards the 24 interchange. give yourself plenty of time. that's not going anywhere any ♪ time soon. another big problem spot this morning, approaching the san mateo bridge, two right lanes ♪ blocked with an accident there. you're slow back from 880. now we have a report of an accident on the northbound 880 ♪ transition to west 92. >> thank you. pg&e is warning more than 56,000 customers their power ♪ could be turned off because of a high fire danger this week. >> how the tajs could take place in sonoma, lake and napa counties. those outages could start this afternoon. pg&e is saying the move is to reduce the risk of transmission lines sparking wildfires and to prevent tragedies like the tubbs fire two years ago.

welcome back. developing news from kenya. a school collapse killed at least seven. more than ten others are trapped in the nairobi building made of corrugated metal and wood. emergency workers are picking through the debris trying to locate the missing people. dozens of students have been taken to the hospital. and betty read soskin is recovering following a stroke. this is from one of her weekly talks at the rosie the riveter talks in richmond. she just turned 98. a documentary on her life called "no time to waste" is supposed to debut tonight. she's the oldest national park ranger in the country and is known for her talks on race and social change. a grandmother in florida is demanding answers after orlando police arrested her 6-year-old granddaughter after the first grader threw a tantrum at school. maryland kirkland said officers

handcuffed her granddaughter and then took her to this juvenile detention center where they collected her fingerprints and a mugshot. kirkland said she was upset and outraged when the school resource officer called to tell her what happened. >> i said what do you mean she was arrested? they said there was an incident she kicked somebody and she is being charged. she is arrested and she has a charge. she is charged with battery. >> kirkland says the girl has sleep apnea and the family is working to get it resolved. the brother said the school resource officer told her he has the same medical condition and doesn't behave as she did. six years old. >> wow. santa cruz's famous beach boardwalk can boast about another honor it just received. >> it earned legend status.

here through wednesday morning. the extended forecast, breezy but a different type of breeze. only in the 60s. barely some 70s this weekend. quite a contrast from the mid to upper 80s in the south bay, santa clara, 86, santa cruz, 83 at the boardwalk. peninsula in the 80s. low to mid 70s along the coast. you will see sunshine late this afternoon. mid to upper 70s downtown, south san francisco. sausalito reaching 80. heading up to bodega bay, comfortable temperatures there. 88 to 92 in the valleys and north bay. 88 in richmond, berkeley. 84 in fremont. in the valleys,9 89 to 89 to 8t degrees. tonight, the temperatures in the lower elevations, the yellow, the santa cruz mountains, east bay hills, north bay mountains, mid 60s to mid 70s.

at 9:00, you can see the fire danger, becoming very high during the overnight hours tuesday, especially in the north bay mountains. day tomorrow it will taper down to moderate. tomorrow night it becomes very high once again. that's why we have the red flag warning. hottest day is wednesday with 80s at the coast. 60s to 80s on thursday. look at that weekend. a cool fall with 60s and 70s and a lot of cloud cover. sue? >> going back to walnut creek, south 680, past north main, a motorcycle down. you can see the emergency crews and brake lights there, they go all the way back past 242, the 242 and 680 interchange. motorcyc motorcycle, two left lanes, debris in the lane. give yourself extra time. better news approaching the san mateo bridge, that earlier accident approaching the toll plaza has been cleared. we have yet to see recovery. slow south 880 and north 880 on the transition to 92, you have

south and northbound 880 slow approaching 92. still has not seen relief. developing news this morning on that warning from pg&e. the utility is preparing to cut the power for thousands of people in nine california counties. that could happen as soon as today. >> that includes napa, sonoma and lake counties. it's a safety precaution because of high fire danger. amy hollyfield is live for us now in napa with what you need to know about it. good morning. >> power outage at napa would impact 10,000 customers. pg&e says it is monitoring the weather closely. pg&e officials say they know that a power outage would be extreme, but they say they would do it in the name of safety. the shutoff could start as early as this afternoon. this has some residents nervous about what they would do without power. >> we appreciate and understand how turning off the power

new updates from pg&e. >> into the south bay, a string of wildfires in the hills above milpitas are keeping roads closed near the calaveras reservoir. cal fire is dealing with six fires in that area. they burned 128 acres. at last word they're 78% contained. the fire started around noon on saturday. they forced the closure of calaveras road. cal fire says rocks are rolling on to the road and it's not sure when it will reopen. the baseline fire blackened the area around roseville. the cause is under investigation. new this morning, at least one person died in a crash along highway 152 east of gilroy. a big rig and three other vehicles collided around 8:30 last night. highway patrol kept highway 152 closed in both directions until 1:00 this morning. chp officers are working to find out who was at fault in this

deadly crash along the two-lane expected to rule on the attempt to stop a homeless navigation center from being built along the waterfront. according to th trying to block the project. the group safe embarcadero argued the city failed to get approval from the state land commission and bypassed the environmental quality act. the 200-bet center is being built on the embarcadero at beale street. the judge denied another appeal two weeks ago. lawyers say the center would do harm to residents. they cite an attack on a woman at the lobby to her south beach condo, which happens to be right next to the center. the person of interest wanted for gunfire at san jose state turned himself in. police say he's the shooter. 21-year-old joseph vicencio voluntarily met with detectives and was booked yesterday morning. he shot at the mlk library thursday evening shattering windows on the top floors. some students narrowly missed

towards the dumbarton tolls. israel safety week. in the south bay vta is launching a company to save lives along light rail and caltrain tracks. the message is simple, you cannot beat the train. so far there have been 20 accidents this year involving light rail trains. officials blame people ignoring traffic lights and then crossing gates for putting themselves in danger. now vta is sharing footage of crashes involving trains on social media. >> it makes a statement. hopefully it stays with people so when they do see that signage that says look both ways, crossing gates, flashing lights, they actually stop and pay attention. >> you may also see ghost bikes at caltrain and vta stations. each one of those bikes represents a cyclist who has been killed. sheriffs deputies plan a crackdown tomorrow on dangerous behavior near rail lines. if you have visitors in town, you may be excited to hear this, iconic cable cars are back
