a prominent car dealership in california faces claims of deceiving its customers. california's attorney general today announced a civil lawsuit against paul blanco's good car company. paul blanco specializes in customers with poor credit with a total of seven dealerships, including this one in oakland near the coliseum. the lawsuit claims the dealership group falsifies credit applications, charges customers for unauthorized add-ons and inflates the value of cars to finance companies. >> denying them the right information, coloring information, hoping that you can shade the truth and get away with it. in this case paul blanco and his company did it not just to consumers but lenders as well. >> the lawsuit wouldn't shut

cell phone video captured a horrifying scene in new york city this morning when a man jumped in front of a subway chain clutching his 5-year-old daughter. it's hard to listen to and hard to watch. that girl survived being run over by the train in the bronx. her father did not. good samaritans jumped onto the tracks as the girl crawled out from underneath that subway car. a witness said she heard the father on the phone moments before he took his own life. >> i heard him telling the wife that you look out for the other two kids, i'm going to take her to school. and then he said i love you.

the middle of the street just blocks from the white house. several arrests were made. bruce reardon is program director with the climate readiness institute. thank you for coming in today, we greatly appreciate it. you guys look for solutions to some of the climate issues that we're facing. what do you think, bruce, is the biggest issue we are facing in the bay area? >> well, it depends on where you live in the bay area. heat is a big issue and going to be a bigger one. we have more extremely hot days and that's a problem both for people in hotter parts of the bay area and people near the coast because people near the coast are generally not air conditioned, which is an easy way or easier way to deal with it. of course if you're near an area that is fire risk, that's going to be your number one, as we've seen in the north bay and we've seen in the past in the east bay hills. anyone living where there's a good chance and now a higher risk of these wildfires coming

into a city, that's going to be their big problem. and of course longer term around the bay and on the coast, sea level rise. extreme storms that go with that, flooding that will happen in many places around the bay, and on the coast. >> let's talk about -- more about the wildfires because we are getting into this hot stretch. in the fall here in the bay area it tends to get hot. along its coast those folks are expecting to cool off but aren't prepared for the heat. what are you guys doing to identify solutions for protecting the public from these wildfires? >> we just did a big workshop and are coming out with a white paper on october 8th that looks at the health issues around wildfires. so for workers, for first responders and for laborers who are coming in unprotected to do cleanup after fires, big health issues, breathing issues in particular. for folks who are living at some

distance from fires, so here in the bay area central, look at the smoke issues that we had last year and the year before. so we're working on solutions for do you send kids to school or is it better to keep them home if you're air conditioned or not. should you wear a mask or not. we're working on those types of solutions which would be clear guidance to people as to what to do, clear communications on all of that. we're also looking at populations that are in high fire risk areas here in the bay area. what can we do to identify who are the most vulnerable populations that when we do have evacuations and big fires, will they be able to hear? will there be language issues? will there be mobility issues? we need to know who those people are ahead of time so they can get that extra work to protect themselves. e' real well, it's g harno hore

bring their grievances and that we'll follow up. >> reporter: according to a recent analysis, retail food vendors in santa clara county owe nearly $5 million in back wages to employees based on 1700 judgments that have been filed since january 2015. the new program is one of several efforts that the county's office of labor standards enforcement is implementing to support vulnerable employees, many of them immigrants, women and low-wage workers. in fact services and support will initially be offered in seven languages. managers believe the program will send a strong message. >> for anyone that's a part of your team, i couldn't dream of cheating them in any way or n giving them what they deserve. >> businesses that don't comply will have their permits suspended. a caregiver, a victim of wage theft herself, says this sort of enforcement is long overdue. >> everybody will have the courage to step up and voice their sentiments about their
