meteorologist sandhya patel and see where records were broken. >> yeah, let's take a look, san francisco 94 barely passed the record of 93. sfo, oakland, all records mid to upper 90s even places like half moon bay 92 degrees. three degrees above 96 set in 2016. take a look at some of the other highs for today. 105 santa rosa airport. 94 in fremont. 99 in concord. 102 degrees in zbgilroy. we'll go from hot to not. how much cooler? i'll let you know. >> thanks. >> happening right now? sonoma and napa counties the lights are back on after power shutoffs. but many customers are asking was it worth it?

jining us live in calistoga is cornell. >> reporter: as you can see the liets lights are back on. pg&e has been restored to all 1400 customers in napa and sonoma koun tis but questioning why the shutoff was even needed. five generators were cranking on the grounds of safari west in santa rosa. pg&e turned the power off wednesday but the staff was able to keep the staff and guests cool. >> we had to work extra hard to keep the generators running. >> reporter: some couldn't take the heat even with fans. >> it was hot. so we left here and went into town and hung out at the grocery store. >> reporter: pg&e restored power by 4:00 p.m. in napa county some businesses forced to close. the lights came back on in calistoga and just in time.

>> valerie didn't mind losing her power for the day. she remembers the firestorm two years ago. >> i think it's a smart thing to do so we don't have another fire. >> i don't think it went well. >> reporter: sonoma county supervisor is critical of the pg&e planned power shutoff. she says the on and off again turnoffs left people confused. >> we really have no winds. not even close to the kind of winds that we had a couple days the red flag days for the firestorms. >> reporter: but pg&e says it was all in the name of safety. and forecast models tells different story. >> two weather events elevated dry windy events with the potential fire risk back to back monday night and tuesday night. >> reporter: pg&e says it's also in the process of restoring ower to the customers in the sierra foothills. live in calistoga.
