they did get one of the parties or someone trapped out of their vehicle. you can see emergency crews are still arriving at the scene. traffic is backing up out of san rafael. we had an earlier sigalert where all lanes were blocked. this is the spot to avoid this morning. in fact, you might want to avoid it in both directions westbound there's also an accident, three to four cars involved. it looks like they're clearing this one to the parking lot. you may want to consider the bay bridge or highway 37. developing news. secretary of state mike pompeo confirmed he was on the july phone call between president trump and ukraine's president. he said the call was in the context of the administration's policy with ukraine to counter russia's threat and get corruption out of their government. today the state department's inspector general is expected to give an urgent briefing to staffers from some house and senate committees related to

apartment for her own and thought he was an intruder when she shot him. the jury deliberated less than 24 hours before delivering the guilty verdict yesterday. a hayward man accused of acting as a spy for the chinese government is due in court in san francisco today. the fbi says that the man acted as a spy for at least four years. investigators say this is video of him leaving $20,000 in a hotel room. he later returned to pick up an sd card with classified information and handed it over to beijing. the fbi says a double agent set him up and that's how they were able to catch him. more than 100 san francisco airport worker also be protestiprotesworkers will be protesting for better pay and safer job conditions. people from baggage claim, security, janitors and wheelchair attendants are expected to be a part of this the service union says they are fighting for more wages and benefits than they've been given. they argue it would give you shorter wait times and cleaner airplane cabins. the santa rosa city council

approved a plan to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour in 2020. that's more than a year ahead of the state's minimum wage schedule. it only affects businesses with more than 25 employees. for smaller businesses, it will be $14 an hour by july 1st of 2020, then increase to $15 in 2021. a new resource is launching in the south bay today to identify communities in need. san jose becomes the first u.s. city to use this social progress index. that tool uses data to point out the strengths and weaknesses of different neighborhoods. it evaluates peoples access to things like housing, medical care and education. the gilroy police department finally hosted its national night out. the event builds the relationship between police and the community. people played games, listened to music and learned how neighborhoods help fight crime. the event was postponed from the original august 4th date because of the mass shooting at the gilroy garlic festival in july.

and it's also causing delays in the westbound direction as welle the richmond-san rafael bridge toll plaza where there was another accident. here's a live shot. that has been cleared. it's a slow ride across the richmond-san rafael bridge. you may want to consider the bay bridge, but in the westbound direction, the toll plaza is backed up. westbound 580 heavy from tracy to dublin, an accident in the eastbound direction, it is blocking lanes. it's causing a backup also in the westbound direction making your way outtracy. westbound 80, delays because of another sigalert. a former manager of a lo long-time restaurant in san francisco has taken over the space and will soon be opening up another restaurant. sausage grill which closed over the weekend after 20 years of business will open again as the

we will pass them on to the gm. time is happening today, more than 12,000 union workers in santa clara county are set to go on strike. reports seiu local 521 has not indicated how long the strike will last. the union represents hospital janitors, social workers, clerical staff and employees in parks, law enforcement and libraries. county officials say they have been preparing for a strike for many weeks and they will fill the essential positions in county hospitals and jails. this morning the santa cruz sheriff's office is looking for multiple suspects in the death of a kidnapped bay area tech executive. tushar atre disappeared early yesterday morning from his house in santa cruz. a body was found hours later along a road. someone inside the house called 911 to report a home invasion

and kidnapping. the 50-year-old was last seen leaving the area at 3:00 in the morning and was believed to be forced into a white bmw suv that xwlo belonged to his girlfriend. the suv was found miles away hours later. >> investigators r. investigating. >> people with money sometimes get sucked into interesting situations. >> the sheriff's office did tell us they believe there are multiple suspects involved in this, and they do not believe the public is in danger. in the east bay, a beloved wife and mother of two is the vick of a htim of a hit and oakland. hong truong was crossing the street with her 4-year-old niece, ellie, when they both got hit yesterday morning. the young girl suffered injuries to her head and stomach. oakland police released few details including the make and model of the car. they are scouring the neighborhood looking for leads. her family is devastated.

>> she came over here for -- seeking a better life for me and my brother and the family. she was a stay-at-home mom. she cared about us. she every day would be there. >> she had just picked up her niece from preschool and were walking home when they were hit. in the south bay, police are trying to figure out why a driver ran down two people at a park and killed one of them. it happened at rancho san antonio county park yesterday afternoon. the second person had nonlife threatening injuries. the victims were hit in different areas of the park and they're treating the case as a murder investigation. the driver left the scene but was captured. investigators closed that park but it's expected to be back open today. a san francisco supervisor is reportedly exploring taking some police officers away from the airport and replacing them with sheriff's deputies. the police officers would then

be put on san francisco streets. according to the examiner, supervisor norman ye asked the controller's office to examine how much this might cost. the president of the san francisco police officer's association said replacing the officers could cost the city more money, and since the city needs a permanent solution to recruit and retain enough police officers. mike pompeo confirmed this morning that he was on the july phone call between president trump and ukraine's president. >> i was on the phone call. the phone call was in the context of now, i guess i've been secretary of state for a year and a half, i know what the american policy is with respect to ukraine. we will continue to try to drive those set of outcomes. taking down the threat that russia poses there in ukraine. it was about helping the ukrainians to get corruption outside of their government to

issues on the richmond-san rafael bridge. are things finally looking better for those commuters as we go about our wednesday morning commute? >> it's recovering. we had two sigalerts this morning. two separate incidents, luckily in the eastbound direction they just cleared this last one. making your way past san quentin. all lanes just reopened. traffic is heavy making your way out of san rafael. westbound it's also slow as well. there was an earlier crash, so traffic is backed up into richmond. a new injury accident, westbound 80 at west texas, blocking two left lanes. traffic has been heavy out of fairfield. there was an earlier sigalert in the cordelia junction area. southbound 680 in mission, an injury crash. traffic is backed up. also a new crash just came in on the lower part as you make your way out of the south bay into the peninsula, north 101 at matilda, a four-car accident blocking the left lane. another accident just came in, southbound 101 in millbrae,

this happened on sunday night. police used this video to find her. officers arrested the boyfriend who they say was holding her against her will at his house. she was treated in the hospital and released. this is terrifying. >> that is awful. just moments ago the casket for a fallen houston deputy arrived at the site of hits final farewell. you are seeing the casket of the officer being taken into the large arena. this is being held in houston. thousands are expected to attend the service. he was killed during a traffic stop last week. he was a ten-year veteran and the first ever member of the sikh religious community to join that sheriff's office. the deadline to get a real i.d. is a year away. a lot of us are still struggling to figure out the requirements. the department of homeland security says 27% of americans have been issued a real i.d.
