so some progress to report from highway 101. a horrific scene here. it is chilling to look at these cars, to think of the people inside. four people were killed in this head-on collision. the volkswagen was going the wrong way on highway 101. that car was going south on the northbound side. the driver of the wrong-way car was killed. officers are saying it was a woman, they estimate she was in her 30s, between 30 and 40. police say there were three 350e people in the taxicab that she hit. >> there were three occupants in that taxicab. a male driver, which appears to be in his 60s. a male passenger, and a female passenger. at this time we're looking into whether seat belts were being used within that taxicab. it appears one of the passengers was ejected from the vehicle due to the collision. >> reporter: this happened at 12:30 this morning near the paul

we with sky 7 live over that deadly crash, that is still blocking lanes on highway 101 northbound in san francisco. four people killed overnight when a wrong-way driver hit a ta taxi. the investigation is causing a huge problem for the morning commute. >> good morning. it's thursday, october 3rd. we want to get to frances with an update. >> northbound 101 is jammed now. traffic is backed up from brisbane up towards 280. this accident is just before 280, only the two left lanes are open. this is causing 15 to 20-minute delays. a lot of folks head over to 280. that's your best bet. folks are getting off at 3rd street. there is an accident in the backup as well. big delays at the bay bridge toll plaza because of a couple accidents including one where a car is on its side. it's blocking the right lane. at least half hour delays

amy? >> good morning. i have an update for you. it looks like they can reopen the lanes within the next half hour. look behind me at the progress they made. they loaded up the taxicab on to the tow truck. the other car has been towed away. again, another half hour until they think they can get northbound highway 101 reopened. such a horrific crash that happened here. four people were killed. three of those victims were inside that taxicab. they hit a car going the wrong way and they hit head on. it was a volkswagen that was going the wrong way on highway 101. the volkswagen was going south on the northbound side. the driver of the wrong way car was killed as well. officers believe the woman was in her 30s. then the three people in the taxicab, it was a driver, a man in his 60s, a male and female passenger. this happened at 12:30 this

morning. officers say they're not sure where she got on, but maybe had been driving that way for a whil while. >> we did get multiple calls with multiple locations. she could have been traveling for quite some time. >> this crash happened near the paul avenue exit. at one point for about five hours all lanes were closed and cars were having to exit at paul avenue. now they have two lanes open. again, within the next half hour they're hoping to get all of this open so they can try and get cars through here for the morning commute. if you're coming from the peninsula to san francisc, keep in mind that quite a backup has built up. they're not sure white she was going the wrong way. maybe she was confused by the on-ramp or possibly drugs or alcohol were involved.

concern. in the south bay, gilroy high school's varsity football team is forfeiting the rest of the season after police cited four players for sexual battery. a teammate reported he was assaulted in the locker room and since then ten players have quit the team. joe biden will be in the bay area attending two fund raisers including one at the home of senator dianne feinstein. his first event happens in palo alto the second is a few hours later at feinstein's san francisco home. according to a new poll, biden is one of the front-runners in the california primary along with senators elizabeth warren and bernie sanders. a familiar face is featured on this month's cover of "time" magazine. that's california senator and 2020 contender kamala harris. her story touches on everything from her san francisco political roots to how she's ow trying to find her footing as she slips in the polls.

as we've been telling you, a brand-new poll shows her a distant fourth here in california. a 4-month-old baby is safe this morning a a scary situation. a woman left her car running with the child inside while she went to get some food from taco bell. witnesses saw a person jump into the vehicle and then drive off. fortunately police were able to find the baby safe just a short distance away. that car is still missing. it's a gray 2018 honda accord with license plate number 8egl341. the man found dead in the santa cruz mountains has been identified as tech executive tushar atre. officials identified his body yesterday. officials say atre was kidnapped from his house early tuesday and was last seen getting into his girlfriend's bmw. the car was located near his body. investigators say atr was the victim of a

would announce the impeachment inquiry. jobina fortson is live with the details. >> good morning. house speaker pelosi said she heard the surprise in the president's voice ahead of that impeachment announcement and right now she believes the president is scared. in a preview of the sit down with george stephanopoulos he asks mroes i hpelosi on her stat having no choice but to go with the impeachment inquiry. some democrats were concerned that if they did and the president gets acquitted in the senate, that could actually strengthen him in the 2020 election. so would the inquiry be worth it? here's pelosi's response to that. >> let me just say this, just because the senate may not have the courage to recognize the president's violation of the constitution doesn't mean they're off scott free. we have to have a compelling case as we go forward for the american people and for the

the city of oakland announced they will try buying shares of the coliseum complex. the decision comes days after the city filed a lawsuit to stop the county from selling its shares of the coliseum to the a's. the city council filed a suit because they want more of a say on what's on the site. also yesterday a judge issued a temporary restraining order on the case. the judge set a november 14th hearing for the city to present arguments on why the county should not be allow god through with the sale. today mayor london breed will announce the ferry landing at the chase center. the mission bay interim ferry landing at pier 48 will help with service to the arena. service will start on saturday when the warriors play their first preseason game against the lakers. the permanent mission bay ferry landing will be completed in 2021. new at 6:00, instagram is expanding its new anti-bullying feature to everyone. >> the feature allows you to

we've been following several traffic alerts. how is it looking? >> four hot spots to tell you you about. fatal accident northbound 101 before 280. northbound 101 is jammed from brisbane up to paul avenue. people are being detoured off at candlestick or 3rd, but the best bet is to avoid northbound 101. take 280 as the alternate. the bay bridge toll plaza, a couple earlier accidents including one car on its side. that has been cleared. traffic backed up well through the maze. another severe traffic alert issued for niles canyon road, it's closed in both directions between mission boulevard and fremont and 680 in sunol because of a rollover crash. southbound 680 has a crash near the closure. we are hearing of a new accident, northbound 101 at shoreline blocking the three left lanes. and another accident on northbound 101 at san antonio.
