temperatures warming quickly today. breezy upper elevation winds, the fremont. the current wind gusts 15 to 3 miles an hour knoxville creek allowing for dry air. 22% relative humidity in the north bay. oakland hills about 31% and we are anywhere from 2 to 13 degrees warmer this morning. that leads to a quick warmup out there. 70s and 80s by noontime everywhere will be well into the 70s at the coast, low to mid 80s in san francisco. 90 inland. a spare the air alert and clear and dry tonight. another hot day on tap for monday. >> thank you. we are actively watching for an update to our breaking news overnight. authorities are searching for the suspect they say is still at large after a shooting and killing four people at a kansas city bar. finj the first reports of this came

includine mou tamalpaie park.pe staffing as well. >> this time of year we see our highest risk of fires with rapid growth in the north bay, especially the coastal area, due to the fuel moisture being at its lowest points. >> reporter: those in the east bay were still on high alert because of the weather. in danville a four-acre wind driven fire threatened homes near glen court before noon. >> the only damage was property damage which was some of the fence lines were our fire engines actually stopped the fire from progressing past the fence lines. >> reporter: in oakland's oakmore neighborhood dozens turned out to clear brush that could ignite this fire season. >> we want to help out, alleviate any possibility of any fires coming up this season. >> reporter: lisa amin gulezian, abc 7 news. the red flag warning will be ending later this morning at 10:00. happening today, pg&e says it expects to turn power back on

for more than 10,000 customers in the sierra foothills some time today, although it's not clear exactly when. the utility turned things off last night in butte, plumas and yuba due to the hire fire danger. yesterday crews had been monitoring conditions in several more counties including napa. you can stay on top of the weather and any updates from pg&e with the abc 7 news app. it is free to download in the app store. enable the push notifications. new developments this morning, investigators are combing through debris after a series of electrical explosions at a huntington beach restaurant. crews first responded to reports of three consecutive blasts causing a transformer fire that happened during an oktoberfest event. four people were hurt, two were actually firefighters. te firefighters had been investigating the initial explosion when another one went off. people who had been enjoying their saturday night up until

that point had to say. >> and there was like a ball of flame that came up and we thought it was like maybe part of the show, but then there was another one and my friend grabbed my hand and we started running and there was a third one. we thought the whole place was going to be on fire. >> officials think an underground electrical vault exploded but the exact cause remains under investigation at this point. we brought it to you as breaking news on "abc 7 mornings" yesterday. magnitude 3.5 earthquake is now sending us all a wake-up call to be ready for the next big one. the quake hit off the coast of pacifica and abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard has more. >> reporter: that's what the 3.5 quake sounded like at 8:41 saturday morning. it really freaked out the folks living in this house. >> what the [ bleep ]. >> did you feel it. >> i feel it. someone hit my store with a truck. >> reporter: sam was working at this pacifica liquor store when

the shaking started, tiny wires on the shelves prevented lots of booze from smashing on to the floor. >> no damage, no. >> reporter: the usgs says the quake was centered a mile off the coast of pacifica. >> after quake has aftershocks. i believe this has three already. >> reporter: sara minson says the shaker happened between two major faults, the san andreas and san gregorio. she does not believe it's a precuss -- precursor to something bigger. >> think about pulling up on a blanket, right, most moves the direction you want, but around it you get tiny wrinkles going in different directions and the same with the earth. >> reporter: more than 3,000 between san francisco and the peninsula and east bay reported they felt it. on the usgs website. minutes after the quake bart temporarily halted train service to inspect the tracks but didn't find any damage. >> we weren't ready for it. >> to me it was like a -- and that was it.

her while she was asleep in her home. yesterday police told us they arrested jatonio simmons. they say he got into the woman's house thursday night thu an unlocked rear door. she told police she woke up when a man began touching her. she screamed and ran from the house and this morning simmons faces charges of sexual assault and burglary. a new season, new arena, and new roster. we got our first look at the next era of the golden state warriors. the team played their first game at chase center in san francisco. the warriors faced off against the lake es and they did suffer a loss, but that did not stop the party. abc 7 news reporter luz pena spent some time with the fans. ♪ >> reporter: it was a party outside. in charge of getting everyone hyped up. they blew notes. the warriors new music ensemble.

>> can we get a pre-halftime situation going on. ♪ >> reporter: fans from all over the bay area came to experience a $1.4 billion chase center. >> much easier to get here than going to oakland. we're glad that the team is coalking about transportation i jumped into a pedicab, the drivers working more than usual. during what used to be their slow season. >> having the chase center here, how is that helping you? >> it helped us in a couple ways, actually. it expanded our range. chase is farther south than where the giants play. >> reporter: with 18,000 seats, the arena was packed with warriors fans and some lakers fans as well. >> this is my sister. >> reporter: this group didn't come from l.a. but fremont. >> i've been raised a laker fan. i guess i can't betray my family. that's the first thing. >> you'll betray the bay? >> yeah. ♪ >> reporter: so now that we're inside let's search for the biggest warriors fan.

check out the current wind gusts. mt. diablo 50 miles an hour. straight out of the north, 33-mile-an-hour wind gusts. this is why we have the red flag warning throughout the next several hours. the gustiest winds above 1500 feet and this is exactly what is happening with temperatures cool but the relative humidity dropping into the 20% range from atlas peek, knoxville, mount tam and they can see the oakland hills and spring valley right above half moon bay. so dangerous relative humidity and then you couple in the temperatures climbing through the 70s by about 8:00, 9:00. it's going to be a rough combination but that's when the winds will begin to ease up. gusty winds in the hills, warm to hot this afternoon, a spare the air alert. looking at the winds out of the northeast right on through 10:00, all day long but as the yellows begin to fade away we still have that offshore component even at our beaches we

won't have the sea breeze really until tomorrow afternoon. so on tuesday, we begin to feel a change with some 80s instead of 90s inland. and 70s instead of 80s around the bay. this continues into wednesday but another system setting up to bring more offshore winds for our wednesday into thursday. even though the temperatures won't be as hot, the winds will be stronger. the time of year to watch out when things are super dry out there, 88 in concord, 85 oakland, look for 91 in santa rosa. few high clouds, mid 80s on the peninsula with upper 80s in san jose, 90s in morgan hill and we'll be warm on the coast with 77 in half moon bay. but with the long october nights we cool off again. tonight with 40s and 50s. clear sky and tomorrow, in fact, we could be a few degrees warmer in our inland valleys. the accuweather seven-day forecast, 70s will stay with us at the coast today and tomorrow. 80s around the bay. 90s inland. the changes come on tuesday with

the stronger sea breeze just some patchy fog, not too much. this is not the time of year we see the fog and then by the middle of the week, another system setting up to the east of us and high pressure building in brings very gusty winds for your wednesday and as we get to the end of the week, should be more in line with what we expect for this time of year. a lot going on. people like the warm weather. but it's always a tough time of year. >> and it got so cold about a week ago but i knew coming to fleet week it would warm up because it always does. >> always does. >> thanks so much. happening today like i mentioned it is the official start of 2019 fleet week. this is always a great time. the blue angels are scheduled to arrive at oakland international airport at 6:00 p.m. and we will, of course, be watching out for that. n francisco.ndreds of thousandsn but what exactly is fleet week and how did it all come about? abc 7 news anchor eric thomas shares a little history. >> reporter: fleet week is now here in san francisco and that

means the navy's blue angels roaring over the city. we know they fly fast and perform intricate maneuvers, but how did the team get its start? as the nation demobilized after world war ii the services were fighting for ways to keep their budgets intact and to stay in the public eye. the navy thought a flight demonstration team was the answer, so a handful of veteran fighter pilots in the aircraft they used in the war began performing air shows. one of the pilots saw the name blue angels in the "new yorker" magazine and thought it was perfect. that name stuck. over the years the team transitioned from prop planes to early jets to the supersonic f-18 hornet. they fly as fast as 700 miles an hour and as slows 120. as you know, they are something to see. >> that was eric thomas reporting. facts and

news to build a better bay area, this is "abc 7 mornings.." >> good morning. it is 6:30 on sunday. hope you're having a great start to your day. we're going to start with a look at weather with meteorologist lisa argen who has some heat in the forecast. >> yeah. very much so. good morning, kate. 40 minutes from sunrise. walnut creek, looks to be nice and clear, numbers in the 50s in san francisco and oakland. 50 in gilroy, 52 half moon bay and our sutro camera, 80s today. warmer everywhere and really no sea breeze to speak of. it's in the upper 40s santa rosa and napa. 51 livermore. we have cooled off.

look at the upper elevation winds. warning above 1500 feet. fla the relative humidity dipping below 30 and 25% in some areas, so until 10:00 we'll be watching it for you. we're warmer everywhere. look how bright it gets here on our map where temperatures climb into the 80s by the afternoon and some 90s inland. >> thank you, lisa. oakland police are investigating a crash that badly damaged at least one car and part of a home. it happened just before 5:30 last night on 35th street in martin luther king, jr. way. the front end of a car is smashed in and a fence outside a home is dented. it appears the force of that crash sheared off a pole onthe street. at this point it's unclear what caused the accident or if anyone was hurt. joo this morning, the white house continues to push against claims that president trump acted illegally during his july phone call with ukraine's president.

as house democrats wait for documents subpoenaed to that discussion. abc's rachel scott has more. >> reporter: the standoff between the white house and congress intensifies. >> this is the greatest witch hunt in the history of our country. >> reporter: the congressional investigation into whether the president sought to strong arm a foreign leader to dig up dirt on a political rival is expanding. house democrats issuing subpoenas for the white house and requesting documents from vice president mike pence all related to the ukraine controversy. >> we've been treated unfairly. >> reporter: the white house dismissing the requests issuing a statement saying the subpoena changes nothing and a waste of time and taxpayer dollars. the state department says it will cooperate but with limits. >> nations do this. nations work together and they say boy, goodness gracious, if you can help me with x we'll help you achieve y. this is what partnerships do. it's win/win, better for each of us. >> reporter: the president

fending off attacks from some in his party. republican senator mitt romney's calling the president's request for china and ukraine to investigate his potential 2020 rival joe biden wrong and appalling, the president responding on twitter my conversation with the ukrainian president was a congenial and very appropriate one. and senator marco rubio asked if he thought it was okay for the to the ask china to launch an investigation of the bidens? >> i don't know if that's a real request or him needling the press knowing you guys would get outraged by it. >> reporter: as president trump doubles down on his attacks on biden the former vp firing back in a "washington post" op-ed writing, quote, he slanders anyone he sees as a threat that is why he is frantically pushing flat out lies, debunked conspiracy theories and smears against me and my family hoping to undermine my candidacy for the presidency while the house does its job on impeachment i'm going to stay focused on what matters.

rachel scott, abc news, washington. coming up on "this week," chief anchor george stephanopoulos sits down with house democratic caucus chair hakim jeffrey, ranking member jim jordan also comes to "this week" exclusively and you can watch those full interviews on "this week with george stephanopoulos" at 8:00 right here on abc 7. senator bernie sanders is back home in vermont this morning after suffering a heart attack. sanders was campaigning in nevada on tuesday when he felt chest pains. he was hospitalized and released on friday. sanders returned yesterday with his wife to their home in burlington. earlier in the week she said he would be taking part in the upcoming democratic debate. it is set for october 15th in ohio. new developments, this is the 18th straight week that demonstrators are marching on hong kong. protesters went on a rampage after the government banned a demonstration.

a group of pro-democracy lawmakers have filed a legal challenge against the law that went into effect at midnight on friday triggering widespread violence and destruction. police deployed tear gas as thousands took to the streets to defy the ban. police are on high alert around this country this weekend with the release of the movie "joker." oakland's grand lake theater one of many showing the film. there are fears it could spark violence. it tells the story of one of the iconic villains from the batman universe joker portrayed as a disturbed man who finds relief and his purpose in life by committing acts of violence. the fbi has been keeping a close eye on line and is alerting local authorities about any threats. th the 2012 shooting at a colorado theater during a showing of another batman film the dark knight rises. >> we remind people to remain vigilant. if you see anything that seems

dogs ran off. employees from a nearby vet hospital saw what happened and they ran outside to help. they found him not moving, not breathing, and his clothes completely charred. >> i started running through the hospital because someone was like we need help with cpr. his shoes and his socks got blown off his feet. >> unbelievable. they were able to perform cpr until they could feel a pulse and they were air lifted to a hospital where he's recovering. >> you have to see this video it was taken at a hair salon in long island, new york. watch what comes crashing through the window. yeah, that would be a deer. it actually hit a woman sitting on the couch and nearly crashed into the stylist cutting a man's hair. the buck, though, quickly got back on his feet and ran around the salon for about 20 seconds before going back out through the front door right here hean g
