38 years ago this guy a san jose state graduate introduced the wave. creating a worldwide sensation. that really last to this day. community journalist introduces us to crazy george. >> how did i get into cheer leading? a friend brought a drum to the game. he handed me this drum. it started from there. 100 professional games in front of 25 million fans. i was at the houston oilers, vik accident and chiefs. i did hundreds of different

places. it's been fun. and of course, the big question. who invented the wave? it's me! i invented the wave october 15.. 1981. at the oakland a's new york yankee play off game. i introduced the world. nobody at the game knew about the wave. three sections and organized. this is the secret. you stand up and you you you. and goes back. it will die, why, because people don't know it's coming. if they don't yell back, this is the secret it gets people mad. i started the weave with the three sections. it went about seven sections and died. i started the fourth time.

that's even more energy. it swept around the whole place. it was like a freight train coming through. we kept it going. it was fun. kept going. and going. it was great. what a game that was. the wave that's where it was built and born. i have video of it. the wave is now gone around the world. my favorite part is seeing the smiles on everybody faces. what really i love doing is i get the fans involved in the game. that's what i have done. everybody thinks they're part of the game. i don't plan to stop. i plan on cheering for san jose state. i'll show up forever. as long as i can walk. and carry a drum. i will be there. it's fun and i love what i do. the fans still love what i do.
