oakland station. they say he had been threatening passengers all the way through the tube from san francisco. starting at the montgomery station. we're live in west oakland with the story. >> very scary situation. bart police have in custody a 32 year-old man they say is a transient. bart says he will be under going a psychiatric exam. here's how it went down. >> reporter: imagine riding a bart train leaving the station in san francisco. and during the ride across the bay, a man brandishing a box cutter threatens riders trapped in the train car. at 9:45 they started getting frantic phone calls. they subdued a man here at 9:53. for eight minutes, passengers had to endure this man threatening, yelling and waving that box cutter around.

of an inch of rain. and partial clearing later in the day. over nights the clouds increase look for low temperatures dropping into the upper 40s and low 50s. forecast shows you development over night. of the high clouds and low clouds sweeping through. moisture starts to produce showers up in the north bay. 8:00 in the morning. later in the day showers taper off. there maybe spotty sprinkles along the coast in the afternoon. as we get sunnier skies. and speaking of sunny skies, highs ranging from mid-60s ats the coast. about 70 around the bay shoreline. and inland areas will see highs in the low to mid-70s. sunday gradual warming begins on sunday. one or two inland spots top at 80 degrees sunday. it will be a lot warmer on monday as highs reach into the upper 80s to about 90 inland.

places. it's been fun. and of course, the big question. who invented the wave? it's me! i invented the wave october 15.. 1981. at the oakland a's new york yankee play off game. i introduced the world. nobody at the game knew about the wave. three sections and organized. this is the secret. you stand up and you you you. and goes back. it will die, why, because people don't know it's coming. if they don't yell back, this is the secret it gets people mad. i started the weave with the three sections. it went about seven sections and died. i started the fourth time.

that's even more energy. it swept around the whole place. it was like a freight train coming through. we kept it going. it was fun. kept going. and going. it was great. what a game that was. the wave that's where it was built and born. i have video of it. the wave is now gone around the world. my favorite part is seeing the smiles on everybody faces. what really i love doing is i get the fans involved in the game. that's what i have done. everybody thinks they're part of the game. i don't plan to stop. i plan on cheering for san jose state. i'll show up forever. as long as i can walk. and carry a drum. i will be there. it's fun and i love what i do. the fans still love what i do.
