>> reporter: if holds, final notifications would begin wednesday morning. then the power would be shut off at 5:00 p.m. on wednesday for parts of the sierra foothills, napa and sonoma counties. then as the wind moves south power would get shut off for parts of san mateo county starting thursday at 2:00 a.m. pg&e also now saying their website is ready to deal with heavy traffic. they think it will be fine for people who want to go and check their address in this possible outage. they do not think it will crash like it did during the last outage. reporting live from san mateo county, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. pg&e is planning to only more community resource centers to help anyone hit by the power shutoff. they'll have restrooms, bottled water, electronic device charging and ac. we'll post the locations on abc7news.com. >> pg&e says it's dealt with more than 100 cases of damage or hazards because of high winds

during the last shutoff. and that includes downed power lines and tree branches falling on lines. the company says the hazards could have sparked a fire. >> let's talk about the possibility of fire and the winds that will be picking up. >> here is drew. we have the fire weather watch that will go into effect tomorrow, first starting in the north bay at noon and then extending into the east bay hills and the sta cruz uninarting at 8:00.m. a large area in orange is under the fire weather watch. we're talking about north/northeast winds 30 to 40 miles an hour but we could see gusts in localized areas close to 60 miles per hour. so combine those strong winds with low humidity, those warm temperatures. that means under these conditions fires can spread pretty rapidly. we'll take a closer look at those winds, we'll go hour by hour in about five minutes. from the live desk this morning we are pushing for more answers in an overnight shooting in the tenderloin. we first got word just after 11:00 last night about this

homicide. it happened at larkin street and golden gate avenue about a block away from the civic center. officers haven't yet said what might have happened or if there were any suspects, and the victim has not been identified. we will let you know as we learn more into the newsroom. thank you, jobina. oakland begins a two-week cleaning operation at a controversial homeless camp. >> sky 7 was over the site. you can see it here near the high street home depot. this was yesterday. the city says it's just become a fire danger. people are being asked to move to the other side of the lot while city workers remove hazardous amounts of materials. they include wooden structures and they will let them come back once the lot has cleaned up. they will create and maintain a new pathway so emergency vehicles can get in and out. key testimony in the impeachment showdown. the top u.s. diplomat in ukraine is going to share what he knows with house lawmakers behind closed doors. that as president trump doubles down against the accusations

in a text message to the u.s. ambassador to the eu taylor wrote, quote, i think it's crazy to with hold security assistance for help with a political campaign. house democrats voted along party lines to block an attempt by republicans to censure house intelligence chairman adam schiff over his handling of the impeachment inquiry. happening today, san francisco is tackling traffic safety. sfmta will give an update on the effort to stop drivers from running red lights. the cameras at six intersections like this one at fourth and harrison and do it by the end of the year. cameras at eight other intersections will be upgraded. other changes like increasing the size of traffic signals can help, too. red light violations accounted for about 300 crashes last year. we're getting a look at tests measuring toxins spread in the air by last week's fire at the nustar energy plant. it sent high levels of smoke particles into crockett and nearby neighborhoods.

contra costa county health officials say the smoke did not contain unusually high levels of toxins. experts think the extreme heat and weather conditions reduced the smoke's impact. in the east bay firefighters are watching for flare-ups from a wildfire near brentwood. the fire broke out yesterday afternoon. firefighters had a tough time reaching the flames because they i uer control. a marshy area. struuros angelrs areteow thaew s ey spp the flames yesterday before they could come over a ridge and into homes, and neighbors fought the fire with garden hoses.40-acre fire does not reignite. it's a vacant lot but will be a solution to one of the major challenges we face in building a better bay area.

and good tuesday morning. it's 4:41 a.m. as we look at the next three days, today is a beautiful looking day but it is a warm afternoon. it's hot in a lot of spots, well into the 80s around the bay line. our warmest spots going into the 90s. by wednesday our winds begin to ramp up in the hills and fire danger will be on the rise. and by thursday no matter where you live, look at those temperatures, low 80s to low 90s. not only look at the winds but also the seven-day forecast, reggie, in about five minutes. drew, thank you. b.a.r.t. says banning panhandlers and performers from trains is legal and has the research to back it up. according to "the examiner" b.a.r.t. staff will present their findings to the board of

welcome back. 4:52 a.m. we have great visibility out there on this early tuesday morning. we have clear skies, and we're on our way to a war of sunshine today. a lot of spots going into the 80s. our warmest spots inland going into the low 90s. kumasi? thanks, drew. a fire forced diners to evacuate san francisco's popular restaurant. it broke out inside the restaurant ateustomer told us t a fire alarm sound inside the restaurant last night but the waiters told them to ignore it. then staff decided to evacuate when another alarm went off. there's no word on what sparked the fire or if any damage was caused inside. in the east side, alameda property owners may pay more to maintain the city's storm drains. they pay a fee of $56 for the last 15 years.

a new ballot measure would increase to $134 a year. alameda's storm drains need about $30 million in upgrades. the new rate would take effect next november if it's approved. construction will start pretty soon to makefrcisherwhar safer. they broke ground on the project yesterday. the $16 million plan will widen sidewalks, install landscaping and improve lighting. this is the second phase along jefferson street. it will focus on jefferson between jones and powell streets. similar work took place between jones and high street in 2013. mt. rose ski tahoe plans to kick off its winter season this friday even as temperatures are expected to soar into 80 and 90 degrees in the bay area. the resort boasts the highest base elevation in lake tahoe, extensive snow making. it is aiming to remain open at least six months.
