filling in for janai norman, it's great to have you and welcome back. we begin with the wildfires devastating many parts of california. >> dozens of fires are burning. from one end of the state to the other. three-fourths of the state's counties are under red flag watches. the power companies plan more outages to help prevent new fires. >> governor gavin newsom met with some of the nearly 200,000 residents who have been evacuated. he said the state is mobilizing resources for them. >> the kincaid fire north of san francisco is the biggest with containment dropping yesterday. it's burned more than 54,000 acres and destroyed nearly 100 buildings. north of los angeles the tick fire is mostly contained and residents are being allowed home. abc's will reeve has more. >> reporter: a statewide emergency in california, and two new fires igniting near the carquinez bridge northeast of san francisco. >> those homes are very much in danger right now. >> reporter: residents with hoses trying to defend their homes as fire crews rush in. our rob marciano is there. >> look how low he got, this is precision. these choppers have been coming in every five minutes. they do not want this fire to cross i-80. >> reporter: but one fire did. drivers surrounded by blinding smoke enveloping the roadway. >> 80 just past the toll plaza here is closed. they're turning traffic around. >> reporter: two firefighters injured battling the blaze. this amid potentially historic fire weather conditions to the

north. >> so they're working hard to defend this structure. you can see the propane tanks already venting. >> reporter: in sonoma county, winds gusting above 90 miles per hour. turbo charging the kincaid fire's spread through wine country. more than 3,000 firefighters battling the 30,000-acre blaze. with the winds picking up, the flames are encroaching on this vineyard. the fire snaking all the way off the property. in healdsburg this winery reduced to rubble. patients evacuated from this santa rosa hospital. this house catching fire. as the sun rises, it is completely engulfed. the structure is crumbling. by daybreak, 180,000 people ordered to evacuate the county, traffic jamming highway 101. the state's governor says they're deploying every resource available to fight fires. these critical conditions also threatening some 8 m are doing whatever they can to save neighborhoods like this one here in windsor. reports of firefighters on the

here's abc's marci gonzalez. >> reporter: southwest airlines denying disturbing allegations that two pilots hid a camera in an airplane restroom and livestreamed the video. flight attendant renee steinaker filing the lawsuit saying she made the discovery when she went into the cockpit during a 2017 flight from pittsburgh to phoenix. >> she saw an ipad on the windscreen, and on the ipad appeared to be a video feed of the captain using the lavatory. >> reporter: according to court documents the copilot admitted it was livestreaming and that the camera was hidden so that no one would ever find it. >> and it occurred to her that she, having used the lavatory, as had many of the other attendants and passengers, had likely been filmed. >> reporter: the lawsuit alleges steinaker alerted the airline and was told to stay silent. southwest airlines telling abc news the company immediately investigated, adding there was never a camera in the lavatory, the incident was an inappropriate attempt at humor which the company did not condone. southwest vows to vigorously defend against the lawsuit in

is it just me? or is it getting crazier out there? >> crazy records breaking over the weekend. "joker" became the top-grossing r-rated movie worldwide ever bringing in a grand total of $849 million. it finished in the top slot again this weekend followed by our parent company disney's "maleficent" and "the addams family." we're counting down the days to halloween along with millions of others. >> but there's one couple outside of chicago who's been spreading the halloween spirit to the entire neighborhood already. and their 10-year-old son is the starring attraction. in past years he's dressed up as mini me, a goalie, zoltar, a horse jockey, even abraham lincoln. but this year's costume may be the best ever. here's our tom llamas. >> reporter: that's the alfono family getting ready for halloween. that's 10-year-old anthony

dressed as the blue man group. this little guy has cerebral palsy. he might be confined to a wheelchair but it hasn't stopped him from being the most popular kid on the street. >> seeing him smile makes me -- motivates us to keep moving. >> mom deanna says her son can't speak, but his smile says it all. >> he can't say it, but his face says it for him. >> reporter: the alfonos take halloween so seriously, they handcr costumes every year so anthony can be the center of the neighborhood action. this year the blue man group.ea. before that a lincoln memorial snow globe. even once he dressed up as the wheel in "the wheel of fortune" game. the real stars of the game show so moved, they sent the family tickets to the show. as anthony gets older, his parents want to make sure they can keep that smile on his face. >> the fact that he's getting older -- i'm more aware. >> reporter: for this family the trick is the costume, and the treat, the message they're sending with their son.
