ween when you wake up and see that, hopefully that provides you comfort. the red flag warning continues until 4:00 for all of us in thee red. here's a look at the winds. they'll still be in the 30-mile-per-hour range to 40 in the mountains and hills. look at by noon, we're in the 20s. by 4:00 we're down in the single digits. i'll show you the temperature forecast coming up next. first back to jobina. i want to head back over to this incident in hayward. this is northbound 238, the connector there to northbound 880. this is a tractor trailer versus car. the tractor trailer rolled on to the car and actually started a fire, a brush fire off of on fis well. emergency crews are on the way

to that incident. hopping up to the north bay quickly to look at the impact the kincade fire is having on our roads. this is state road 128 between geyserville and calistoga. that will remain closed until further notice. albany to the maze, 4 minutes. fremont to san jose, 14 minutes. highway 101 to cupertino, 10 minutes. >> now to the latest on the kincade fire that is still burning. >> it's grown to 76,000 acres. more than 80,000 homes are threatened. the 86 homes have been destroyed. now is a cite cal time ime iim n the

hfr >> cal fire says we have not seen new significant spot fires overnight. fires that would have gone into residential communities, fires that prompted more evacuations, so that's good news. there was concern that winds would push the fire towards santa rosa. we have not seen that as of now. that said the fire is erratic. it does continue to burn. we have seen spot fires burning in northeast sonoma county. this video here shows the transformation learning center burning after yesterday evening. we have seen winds die down in the lower elevations, it doesn't mean businesses and homes are out of the woods. firefighters were preparing for a big wind event overnight. cal fire says these winds did back down considerably especially along the 101 corridor. we're at the sonoma county fairgrounds. this is the base camp for cal fire. nearly 5,000 firefighters from across the state are here.

fire officials say if this staffing seems like overkill, if the evacuations seem like overkill, if there's one thing they learned from the 2017 fires from two years ago, it's better to always err on the side of safety. >> thank you, liz. in sonoma county public offices will be closed because of the kincade fire and the power shutdowns. that includes superior court. critical functions will be maintained to support residents. in the east bay, all east bay regional parks and trails are still closed because of the fire danger. anyone caught trying to enter a park could be cited. blood donation centers are urging people not impacted by the wildfire or the power outages to give blood. the santa rosa donation center are in a mandatory evacuation zone and that's putting a strain on the region's blood supply. eight blood drives have been canceled because of the fire

evacuation or power outages. that has effected donors from giving 250 units of blood. we're seeing light at the end of the tunnel this morning as we've been talking about. pg&e says now that the winds have calmed down a bit, it will not cut the power to alameda, contra costa, santa clara, san mateo and santa cruz counties. pg&e does not expect another power shutoff in the next week here. so i want to bring up now for you, while you can find this on pg&e's website, also on ours if you have any trouble navigating their website. thousands of people do still remain in the dark after the power shutoffs. that's the pink area here. primarily in the north bay. there is a calendar that shows the days pg&e has cut the power in yellow. we will get to that further on in our newscast. the kincade fire one week ago in the north bay. it started one week ago. that's where we're seeing the most of the outages this

morning. sonoma, napa and solano counties. about 5,000 customers in marin county a t powes worng restore w customers in contra costa county impacted by the last round of outages. >> thank you. governor newsom said pg&e will give credits to people who lost electricity because of the power shutoffs. the governor pressed the company and other utilities to issue credits when customers have power turned off. the pg&e has not said how much credit customers would get. newsom repeatedly has slammed the company for corporate greed and mismanagement. marin county drentzs have been driving across the golden gate bridge to stock up. a gas station was packed yesterday. a safeway in the marina, abc7 news saw multiple people loading up cars with bs of ice by the dozen. >> they actually asked why i was

buying 11 bags of ice the last time, i said we're from marin. they said we're so sorry. >> we found residents doing laundry and charging their electric cars in thedio before heading back across the golden gate bridge. city leaders are trying to reassure residents they will have enough drinking water despite the shutoffs. they received quite a few calls from people concerned about this. the public water supply is 75% to 80% of normal. crews are installing generators to keep wells pumping water from the ground. >> let's check in with mike nicco. >> the surface winds are fastest around fairfield, 24. san francisco, 14. half moon bay, 38 miles per hour. the wind event did happen up in the mountains. not so much down in the valleys. looking at what's going on as far as the air quality. look at all that green.

everything critical weather systems gone, temperatures around 70. urfor those that don't have power, we have a frost advisory. i'll show you that coming up. good morning. so we'll check back in to hayward right now where we have this big rig versus car situation. northbound 238 connector to northbound 880, still blocking the connector. we learned the big rig was carrying about 30,000 pounds of some sort of material. we're waiting on a tow to get there to the scene as well. the car is on fire it did start a small brush fire alongside 880. be aware if you're headed that way. checking in on mass transit alert for everyone. we have modified ferry service as well as the golden gate transit buses are on a modified

>> reporter: watching the devastation from a distance, san jose resident jeremy taylor knew he had to do something. so he took to facebook, calling all neighbors, we are organizes supplies to take to sonoma county. >> i saw the number of evacuating, to me that's a >> repte a bigumana big task ahead as neighbors showed up with supplies. local business owner gabriel lopez responded offering his moving truck for transport. volunteering to drive as he did during the paradise fire. >> he got to put the mask on, you could feel it in your eyes and everything like that. i remember that's how it was and i want to really give back. >> reporter: water, food and other items are currently being kept at little orchard storage. the business offered lopez space to store his donations until his drive up. >> what has been unique about this particular natural disaster is our food bank has been

service will operate from santa rosa downtown station to downtown san rafael stopping at all stations in between. power outages and closed railroad crossings mean sonoma county airport and santa rosa north stations will remain closed. a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. there is a stalled car in the slow lane of the lower deck before treasure island. the golden gate bridge looking nice and clear this morning. beautiful over there. but we do have a snag in hayward. northbound 238 connector to northbound 880, car versus tractor trailer. the car is on fire. the tractor trailer rolled on top of the car. emergency crews are waiting for a tow to get that tractor trailer moving. at this point it is blocking the connector. >> thanks. san mateo has been spared from pg&e's lateste told power be turned off around 10:00 last night if weather conditions warranted it, apparently they

signed the fair pay to play act co-authored by nancy skinner. more than a dozen states followed with similar legislation to allow players to be compensated san jose is moving forward with a huge change to its overnight warming centers for the homeless. starting next month warming centers will open every night until april 30th. each center will serve 30 people and provide them with food and shelter. the city council approved the change last night. in the past warming centers were only open when temperatures dropped below a certain point or if there was rain innews. wanled what is the winds thems cannot create or should not create damage. it does not mean a lowing of the red flag warning. it's still out there until 4:00. those critical levels are met for the high fire danger. still around 42 in helena.
