>> who was reportedly threatening multiple people at the santa teresa light rail station. reporter chris nguyen has information for us. chris? >> reporter: and that investigation is being led by the santa clara county sheriff's office. behind me is the station platform where authorities say a man was threatening people with knifes and a pair of scissors before being shot to death by vta security officer. a sense of security shattered at the light rail station in san jose. santa clara county sheriff's deputies were called at 8:40 responding to reports an armed vta contracted security officer had fired his weapon at a suspect who had been threatening passengers on the platform. he was transferring from a bus when she encountered the aftermath of the shooting. >> i lifted his shirt up and noticed there was a hole there an apply pressure.

>> reporter: the suspect died shortly after being taken to the hospital. attempts to get the suspect to stand down. >> i would say he closed in five to ten feet before the security office her to discharge his firearm. >> reporter: although the sherr ef's office is the sworn police force, allied universal has been the agency's supplemental security provider since 2014 n. a statement a company spokesperson said in part since this investigation is ongoing and details are being learned we are unable to provide any additional information at this time. the security officers are state certified and carry firearms, pepper spray and batons and undergo multiple hours of training. the transit agency says it is fully cooperating with the investigation. passengers hope it was an isolated incident but are left questioning their safety. >> even though he was at the
