we are down here at the bottom of the hill. the house is up there. police set up a barricade and pushed us back here. look at the video from last night. the street was full of police officers. a huge response out here. they got the call at 10:45 last night to this hour on lucille way in orinda. police say they found a party going on and several victims. four people shot to death and four people hurt. they say there were about 100 people here. the east bay times reports there was a flyer that went out that advertised a halloween mansion party at an airbnb, telling people to byob and byow. the police chief said this happened at a short-term rental. police have not released information about the victims or party hosts. we reached out to the homeowner, she said she could not talk to us. reporting live in orinda, amy hollyfield, abc7 news.

about plenty of fuel in the area. >> this is a ranching community with a lot of avocados and citrus orchards in the area. a lot of time they use the eucalyptus for wind breaks. >> two structures have been destroyed. 1,800 more are threatened now. we will track this situation and bring you updates. the kincade fire is still burning this morning but it appears the worst is behind us. >> nobody wants to be out of their homes for days at a time, but this time around the evacuees say the process was much safer. lauren martinez has more live from the news womb. >> fire crews working the kincade fire are making progress which means more drenzs a s mor returning home. the kincade fire stands at nearly 78,000 acres and is 65% contained. agencies involved in this say

there was better communication involved this time. many lessons were learned from the toouubbs fire. for one, alert systems were upgraded. there was better organization during the kincade fire. >> we did have time to somewhat organize and not create this mass chaos of organizing these mass evacuations and that's what really helped us in having no casualties during this incident. >> residents remain under mandatory evacuation orders, the sheriff's office says those evacuations will remain in place until crews can get into burn areas and evaluate the damage. full containment is expected to be next thursday but that can change. lauren martinez, abc7 news. >> thank you. it is day two of a food drive for the victims of the kincade fire today. hundreds of people came together for the event yesterday and to help evacuees have a special

halloween. some of the kids were first to grow up fast when they were forced from their homes. so organizers threw together a halloween event in santa rosa. >> and we had kids in the shelter afraid halloween wasn't going to happen because they weren't going to be home. so we told them it didn't matter, we're going to do it here. >> the volunteers also handed out food yesterday. here's some details for today's food drive. if you want to donate drop off food at the fire department training tower in santa rosa from 9:00 to 11:00. if you need food, stop by from 11:00 to 2:00. a brewing company is raising money for kincade fire victims. part of the proceeds will go to its beer for a cause program. on thursday, november 14th, they'll hold a fund-raiser at the tap room. all proceeds will go to the petaluma people services center and the humane society of sonoma

winfrey. the pair flew to humbolt county for dinner last thursday. witnesses say they saw a plane leave the local airport after dinner that evening even though it only operates during the day. crews have been searching north of ft. bragg where the plane disappeared off radar. gilroy police of the cars they impounded. the october 11th side show happened in the gilroy target parking lot during business hours. police say there were 400 to 500 vehicles taking part in the side show. they put the lives of regular customers and those watching in danger. another san francisco business has closed for good. kennedy's pub and curry house posted on facebook saying yesterday was its last day in operation. the restaurant was located on columbus avenue in north beach. it's not clear why they closed. a kansas girl got a huge surprise for her eighth birthday. it started with a pair of mickey ears and a note.

residents are being allowed to return to their homes. some evacuees forced from their homes from previous wildfires say this time around the process was safer. lauren martinez is live in the newsroom with that. lauren? >> that's right. they are saying that the kincade fire stands at nearly 78,000 acres, and it is 65% contained. a cal fire captain told us that's a fifth of the size of london. 165 homes have been destroyed. currently 1,600 structures remain threatened. as residents return, many are sharing thoughts about how this experience was different from the tubbs fire two years ago. many are saying it was organized and communication improved. law enforcement gave people a six-hour window to leave which helped with traffic and anxiety on the freeways. >> it was less stressful because we knew, 10:00 in the morning,

saturday morning, be out by 4:00 in the afternoon. that was rel ahead of twell ahe. >> people were nice. i could only go 35, 40 miles per hour, they were all cool. it was good. >> reporter: over 5,000 people are continuing to work this fire. several mandatory evacuations have been reduced allowing more people to return back home. the cause of the kincade fire is still under investigation. live in the newsroom. lauren martinez, abc7 news. thank you. sonoma county is opening an assistance center on monday that will provide information like the permitting process for recovery and rebuilding applications for food benefits and medical insurance. this is at the healdsburg community center from 10:00 in the morning to 7:00 at night monday, tuesday and wednesday, but that will be extended if needed. in san francisco, students will be on strike calling for action from governor newsom and pg&e. they're demanding california take real action on the energy crisis and climate emergency. organizers say they want a green new deal which provides relief

to those impacted by climate chaos and creates millions of new jobs. the strike will start at 10:00 this morning at pg&e headquarters on beale street. pg&e says it restored power to most customers impacted by the two recent planned outages. >> 1,400 customers are still in the dark. 800 will not see power back on until the utility makes repairs to wind-related damage. abc reporter dan noyes asked asd pg&e's president to address the food waste from these outages. >> for these people who didn't burn down any houses, the kinkade fire is still under investigation. one of the things we did was give them the opportunity to actually refill their refrigerator because their house is still there. >> customers living near the kincade fire do not have electricity and won't have it until pg&e can inspect the lines in the fire zone. pg&e said it found 156 confirmed incidents of damage to the

valley road, two-car crash blocking the left three lanes. traffic is pretty much stopped at this point on the eastbound side. you can see the speed there, 5 miles per hour. on the commute side, speeds r. do are down to 22 miles per hour. this slowdown is creeping into rodeo. we understand that serious injuries have been reported. it's going to impact people coming from vallejo down on to the east shore freeway. be careful approaching this area because there's a lot of activity going on there, first responders, police officers, two traffic breaks have already run this morning. it's not going to clear up any time soon.

still warmer than average. hi, jobina. >> hi, mike. we're following the sigalert. i have an update for everyone, it's cleared as far as all lanes are opened but there will be a lot of residual delays. here's the maps. you can see exactly where it is. eastbound 80 before pinole valley road is where the crash happened between two cars. major injuries were reported there. speeds down at 5 miles per hour on the opposite side where all of our commuters are, speeds are at 22 miles per hour. so the sigalert is still in effect because of these extreme delays and just to give you a visual, here's a screen grab from our caltrans camera, you can see that backup. a lot of red lights we've been seeing. now moving to the bay bridge toll plaza where it is definitely filling in. once you get over the bridge it is moving smoothly there. >> thank you. lyft is rolling out a new subscription service that focuses on rewards for frequent
