and there was a lot of noise and yelling and people running. >> four people were killed another four injured in a shooting at the house party. this wasn't just any party. near hi 100 people were inside. when somebody opened fire. >> the shooting happened right off highway 24. just before 11:00 p.m. the city and neighborhood normally quiet and crime free. there have been two other murders there in 20 years. >> following the story all day long. live with the lates >> this scene. we can show you where the home is. it's up that driveway. up to the right. this is where the party was happening on halloween.

and a little bit before 11:00. when the shots started to ring out. police held a press conference short time ago. very tight lipped about any information about victims or suspects. what we know is there was a huge party last night that ended when gunshots rang out. >> a quiet halloween night erupted in gunfire in the neighborhood. high in the hills where a shooting at a house party left four people dead. and four others injured. >> it was a chaotic scene. there was a lot of noise and yelling and people running. >> this is a video posted on social media that shows the house crowded with people earlier in the evening. 24 year-old was one of those shot and injured. shown here in a photograph with his baby daughter. hours before the party. his father says he's being treated at the hospital. >> he got shot about three or

four times. >> a flier called the evening a halloween mansion party. instructed to direct message the host to get the address. the home where the shooting happened is a along a steep driveway. neighbors say it's often rented out. and there have been large parties there before. >> it was loud. over 100 people in the house that can fit 50. it was something over flowing into the outside. >> city manager revealed there had been several complaints about large parties at the home in the last nine months. most recently 9:30 last night. one hour before violence erupted. >> i believe they called the police. >> police couldn't tell us whether they actually dispatched officers to come here. after they received that complaint. at 9:35. we're waiting for that

information. we're trying to learn more about the victims besides the young man we told you about who was shot and survived. we have information from social media. we'll wait obviously for confirmation. >> do police have any updates on the suspect or suspects? how many people were involved. >> not at all. that's been very frustrating for the neighbors here. police tell us that they don't know at this point whether it was one suspect or more than one. how that person might have gotten away from the neighborhood. it's a steep area. narrow one lane roads up and down. so however they got awa u they may not have gotten away quickly. at this point police and sheriffs are not releasing any information no descriptions about what the status of the suspect or suspects might be. they do not think that this

neighborhood is in danger. >> live, thank you. san francisco based airbnb issued a statement saying it's horrified by the shooting. adding our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims as well as neighbors of the home. the company says it's taking action to been the booking guest from the platform. the statement declares the listings house rules specifically ban parties. this is a screen shot of the listing page. which says weapons are banned. they clay it has procedures to flag renters who can be a problem. including a realtime detection system with machine learning to instantly evaluate signals and stop potentially suspicious activity. it takes a range of actions including removing a user from the platform entirely. >> update on the kincade fire in

the north bay. containment has gone up to 68% this afternoon. it's burned nearly 78,000 acres. making it the largest active wild fire in the state. last check the flames destroyed hundreds of buildings. 167 are homes. many evacuees are allowed to return. evacuation orders remain in effect for 1,000 homes. it made considerable progress over night. the northern part of the fire remains a challenge. because of the terrain and narrow roads. caught up with one family who returned home to a devastating discovery. >> her home is on the top of pine flat road. sadly it doesn't survive the kincade fire. and today she invited us to go along as she saw her home for the first time. >> now, she was looking for her

cat, mr. edwards. where her family compound once stood. she found nothing left. all of it charred by the fire. everyone who lives here, her parents and daughter and sister. got out on friday. before the kincade fire moved through. today she struggled to find anything. she could salvage. >> i really want to dig in there and see if my -- it will take so long to dig through that. see if anything survived. >> it was heartbreaking. here's a picture of the what is looked like before the fire. for now she and her family are staying at a hotel. compliments of a non-profit. she's not sure about the future but says her famy home has been there at the top of the pine flat road since 1911.

>> we understand this family is no stranger to evacuation. or wild fire. >> she told me that they the family has been evacuated so many times in the last two decades. she barely lost count. and her dad told me that there has been four major fires at the compound. due to wild fire. since the 19 20s. but now the home is a total loss and appears they will relocate. to the state of idaho. >> thank you. opening an assistance center on monday providing information on the permitting process for recovery and rebuilding. applications for food benefits and medical insurance. at the community center from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. monday through wednesday. >> all right. let's talk about the fire conditions. right now.

>> okay. we have similar conditions to what we had yesterday. slightly waerm than yesterday. 67 degrees near the sight of the fire. humidity is very low. only 14%. wind has been light throughout the day. at four miles per hour. gusts up to only 8 miles per hour. wind hasn't been factor today. fighting the fire or containment. gusts over the high elevations most of the bay area are in the single digits. a few locations with 12 degree gusts. all single digit readings. the humidity remains dangerously low. with readings in the teens across the bay area. and helping a bit with fire concern is the fact it's getting cold in the north bay. frost advisory later. >> thank you. governor newsom announced he plans to meet with pg&e executives and shareholders next week to find way to speed up the bankruptcy case. the governor says resolving the

bankruptcy would allow the company to focus on restructuring and hardening the infrastructure to prevent wild fire. >> we haven't mandate get pg&e out of bankruptcy pursuant to that legislation by june 30 of next year. we're concern pd about that process. we're concerned that it's been stubborn. >> also today the governor appointed cabinet secretary to a newly created energy czar post. she will be tasked with fixing the state utility problem. >> one of the two bay area cities receiving half million dollar grant from the state to address power interruption is planning to generate its own back up power with that money. we look at san jose vision. >> san jose isn't the only city that suffered power shut down events and selected officials aren't waiting for someone else to prevent them. mayor plans to use $500,000 in special state funds to explore a

net work of micro grids to provide power when pg&e can't or won't. >> critical facilities throughout the city. where we can assure we have local generation of power. primarily through solar or fuel cell. and local storage. >> the goal is keep small retailers and restaurants open. and keep essential services operating and medical equipment. it will take time and more than what the state is providing. >> we need to get started. >> state senator sits on the budget committee. no strings attached how they can use the money in the bay area. or what l.a. and san diego can do with it. >> we were not putting a lot of strings on it or any kind of rules. we want it to be spent for the emergency that we have now. and fast.

breaking news from fair field. police investigate an offer involved shooting. sky 7 oemp the scene. this investigation is happening near heather drive. a police lieutenant says all fair field officers are okay. and the situation has since been stabilized. you see the heavy police presence in the neighborhood there. the department hasn't said who was injured if anyone. we'll keep you posted. >> for those of you involved in the college prix process you know today is an important deadline. >> many students decide to apply for early decision to universities. but what about the people affected by the kincade fire or the pg&e shut off. >> good question. we found out there's an extension for the students. >> when a student applies for early decision to a college it means if a university accepts you, you cannot apply to any other institution. early action on the other hand

emotional images from the fire. which exploded on wednesday october 23rd. as you'll scroll down you see images like this. the soda rock winery on sunday october 27. in just hours this building that was there for more than 150 years just went up in flames. as you can continue to go down the page you'll seal more homes burned and images like this of heros. more than 5,000 firefighters from 100 different crews just descending on this fire. trying to put the flames out. you can see they're exhausted. from being on the front line. then we see this. as the smoke clears and the sun comes up. all of the homeowners are descending on the property. and then at the bottom, we get back to the very place we began. soda rock winery. where this 150 plus year-old building is now just a shell of its former self-. you can find this time line and much more at our web site. >> long lines lines lines

we are back. we were just chatting. in just over a week thousands of girls will be gathering in san francisco for a day of fun and learning new things. it's the fourth annual worldwide women girls festival. she's with the supporter of the girls festival. and i understand that you have a special grant program. to support and fund organizations like this? >> we do. we believe diversity and inclusion are essential to building winning teams and driving innovation. we know women are under represented in the tech work force. and technical roles. we're focussed on making sure the company has a culture of inclusion. we're looking to the next generation. we created generation girl. so it's an initiative of the applied material foundation focussed on ir inspiring girls

continue learning back home. >> you are going to have a workshop? stem. that's a big thing. getting girls involved. tell me about the workshop. >> it's going to be focussed on introducing girls to the complex product of a micro chip. by way of cookie decorating. >> i'm intrigued. >> they get to create a sweet treat while our female engineers teach them about chemical deposition and materials engineering that allow krfbs and watches and speakers and cell phones to be so mart. >> is there a certain age range? >> middle school. if you want to come regardless of your age come on through. maybe not two year-olds. that maybe young. if you're interested in learning about materials engineering and decorating and having a nice experience with us. come on by. >> there will be things for people of all ages.

exactly. i believe we are heading to spencer next. and first let's i'll tell you about google. big gift today to bay area schools. lincoln high school where the tech company announced it was contributing $10 million for stem classes. it's particularly geared towards low income and minority students to give them more access to advance classes and science, technology, engineering math and computer science. >> we'll be doing this by pushing to add an additional 3,000 under represented students in stem courses. particularly 750 in apcs. >> 3,000 students from the bay area are expected to benefit from google grant. >> berkeley students receive a hands on lesson yesterday about careers in e sports. dozens played games and listened to panel discussion.
