in the upper 70s, another dry air mass on top of us, no changes except we'll get a weak sea breeze your sunday forecast and a look ahead coming up. liz? >> thanks, lisa. sorrow, heartache and remembering the good times, the loved ones of five killed in orinda are sharing their memories, city leaders and airbnb vow to make changes. the five people killed at the party range from 19 to 29. these are their names provided by the contra costa sheriff's office. they came from all over the bay area. at least three others also were injured at the party. a video posted here on social media thursday night shows the home packed with people. the home had been rented out using the platform airbnb but the owners told media they didn't know it was for a party. when orinda police arrived, officers saw at least a hundred people running from the house. law enforcement has not announced any arrests. the associated press reports two guns were found at the scene. now the family of omar taylor jr. who was killed at the orinda party is speaking out to abc 7 news.

relatives are stunned by the violence that erupted at the gathering. they say omar was there for one reason to entertain partygoers with music. abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard sat down with the family. >> to get that phone call was devastating. >> reporter: laneisha epps never imagined the news would be so tragic. her stepson omar taylor jr., shot and killed at a halloween party in orinda. >> i personally feel like it is -- with such a careless act, it's such a traumatic experience that the family is taking on right now. >> reporter: the families says taylor was there to deejay the party. >> music and deejaying and stuff that was his happiness. he had been in those type of environments and whatever before. i don't think he was going in thinking it was trouble or anything. >> reporter: amare taylor says his brother worked all the time as a deejay. the haloween party where about 100 people gathered another job to help support his young daughter. >> he was a good man, and if he

was here right now, he would want everybody out there who mourn for him to stay strong. >> reporter: to honor the life of his brother omari, a varsity football player at clayton valley high played friday's game against de la sal. he says it's what omar would have wanted. >> he wanted to be successful in whatever he did and that was it. we wanted to care for everybody else and take care of his children's children children. that's what his plan was. >> reporter: at the house where the party was held we found nicole stagnaro and her son leaving flowers. >> i'm just trying to do something kind and i feel helpless. what else can we do but support the families that have lost their loved ones and their children. >> that's the tragic part, everyone for halloween is just getting dressed up in a costume to have fun. >> yeah. >> and they think that they're going to go home. >> reporter: this family sending condolences to everyone touched by the tragedy. in orinda, cornell barnard abc 7 news.

>> san francisco airbnb announced some big changes to their platform in the wake of the orinda shooting. party houses will be banned on the site. in a statement on twitter airbnb ceo brian chesky said we are redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties and get rid of abusive hosts and guest conduct including conduct that leads to the terrible events we saw in orinda. we must do better and we will. this is unacceptable. the company plans to expand manual screening of high risk reservations from a rapid response team and take immediate action against violators. here's the screen shot of the orinda homes listing page. airbnb says the listing banned parties and weapons. now the city of orinda may also be making changes to its short-term rental policy in the wake of this shooting. abc 7 news reporter luz pena spoke with the mayor. >> reporter: the screams and so

at 10:50 inside this home at 114 lucille way are still vivid in many neighbors' minds. >> i don't feel safe knowing that someone could actually do this in our neighborhood. >> reporter: five people in their 20s lost their lives and police have not made any arrests. >> to be honest with you, i don't go out at night for the last few nights. i'm kind of scared. it's kind of like, well shgs whoever did this, are they still around? >> reporter: we sat down with the mayor of orinda. >> did the city of orinda know of any previous parties that had taken place in that house? >> at this particular house my understanding is from our city manager and from our planning department that there was a complaint about parties earlier this year in february. >> reporter: the city provided records that say the owners of 114 lucille way registered their home as a short-term rental almo 21st, 2018. three months later the first complaint of a large party was registered. everything was resolved according to the mayor and then an e-mail was sent by a neighbor at 9:35 p.m. halloween night when the fatal shooting happened.

and more evacuation warnings have been lifted. mountain mike's pizza and redwood credit union in santa rosa gave out free pizza to evacuees and first responders it was all part of a giving back to a community that's been through so much. abc 7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian has more. >> you're here because you've been evacuated, have no power, you have no gas, you're here for some kind of reason and everybody is welcome. >> reporter: support is coming in the form of pizza at mountain mike's on cleveland avenue in santa rosa the doors are open and the pizza is free to those who have been through a lot these past few days. >> we are giving free lunch buffet for the evacuees and fire department because they did a lot for us, and we want to give back to themdifo mountain mike's locations in the north bay were closed because of the kincade fire. this location alone was evacuated for three days. >> we were out within 40 minutes when they came to the door.

the town of windsor in sonoma county is thanking first responders for their work on the kincade fire. people will gather at town green at 11:00 this moanr e traveled to help protect and save lives and property. together with sonoma county firefighters, they helped save windsor. everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring their own thank you signs for the picture. i know yesterday a bunch of people gathered outside the sonoma county fairgrounds where first responders have been working out of too to say thanks. >> that's fantastic. that is unbelievable. a week from today all of that happened and we're still looking at that dry air mass. the winds certainly are calm. that hallowed our temperatures o drop into the 30s. the airport is 50 degrees. we'll talk about when, how quickly our temperatures rise to those above average readings once again for your sunday afternoon. can we get any rain for the first week in november? i'll have the answer next. >> also ahead, dungeness crab

we'll get a check of the weather in a second with lisa argen. a man has been arrested for starting eight grass fires in the hills east of union city. alameda county firefighters responded to the fires just before 5:00 last night on land that belongs to the east bay regional park district. about 40 firefighters from alameda county, hayward and union city were called in to fight the flames. one crew dropping water on the flames spotted the suspect and gave coordinates that led to his capture and arrest. roman montalvo was booked on an outstanding felony warrant. about ten acres of land burned but thankfully nobody was hurt. a fire burned at a homeless encampment in oakland on high street. the city calls the camp camp cap hazard. there wasanother fire there last week that burned two rvs and some wooden structures. the city is planning to close the encampment by the end of the year. >> the regional dungeness crab season is open but it may be a while before you see any local crab for sale at the store. the california department of fish and wildlife says crab

fishing south of the mendocino/sonoma county line poses a significant risk to whales that can get tangled up in crab fishing gear. officials say they are delaying the opening of the commercial season from november 15th to november 23rd. the department warns there could be additional delays due to home health risks or poor crab quality. popeye's chicken sandwich is making its return today. the chain says this time, though, they will be ready. bloomberg reports the chain is hiring more staff to deal with the rush. you may remember the original debut was so popular that pop eye's sold out. people rushed to get their hands on one setting off a social media war. one person even tried selling a sandwich for $7,000 on ebay. crazy. i really hope no one paid $7,000 for that sandwich. now is your chance to get one if you didn't already. if fast food isn't your thing or you are vegan we have another option you might be interested

in by a bay area company. vegan delivery company atlas monroe makes plant-based fried chicken sandwiches. ceo deborah torres was in studio last week on abc 7 news at 4:00. she tells us she was inspired after adopting a healthier lifestyle because of her dad. >> my father was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. my whole family and i we went on a raw vegan and organic diet for 90 days. >> that sounds tough. >> yes. it was very tough. we got hangry. we started like going to work in the kitchen making raw lasagna, raw tacos, raw burgers all that kind of stuff. we took walks with him every day as well and at the end of the 90 days he was completely healed. >> wow. >> amazing. >> awesome. we returned to eating cooked foods but stayed vegan and started making other delicious things like fried chicken and now you see atlas monroe today. >> wow. the company appeared on abc's

hit show "shark tank" and down a $1 million deal made by the shoarks. volunteers were out in east oakland planting trees and as you can see oakland a's mascot stomper was there to help. it's part of an effort by alameda county to prevent illegal dumping along railroad avenue, but it's also intended to help beautify the neighborhood and improve air quality and transform east oakland. it was a night of candles, painted faces and dancing. ♪ that makes you want to dance, doesn't it? this is dia de los muertos day of the dead, an ancient celebration that began in central mexico but reinvented in san francisco's mission district it's a day to remember loved ones who have passed away but live on in memory. last night people walked through the mission holding candles. many painted their faces with a ghostly white makeup. that's such a fun celebration. made more popular by cocoa the disney movie and lisa, it kind of warmed up for these folks who

were out there celebration yesterday, didn't it? >> oh, yeah. if you're out in the afternoon you can lose the jacket and that sun still warm. temperatures above average. live doppler 7 showing our sweep and no clouds here. we're looking at the stable air mass as it builds into the west coast. here is a look, isn't this pretty, this morning, light 6:37, the sunrise now. about an hour earlier and a little bit of the sea breeze coming into play today. it is 53 downtown. mild compared to oakland at 42, redwood city 41, san jose 46, 42 in gilroy and 49 on the coast. lot of clear sky from our east bay hills camera. this is san jose. 37. petaluma and napa, 36 by the delta, livermore 39 and 45 in concord. upper elevations, they're still dry and they will remain dry as high pressure keeps a lid on the

atmosphere. we're not going to be looking at any sort of moisture in the upper elevations. the week sea breeze helps us out at the surface but 20% relative humidity. 17% atlas peak. this remains to be the concern once again as we need some rain. it has been so dry for so long. we're looking at the clear and cold start. mild sunny days throughout the week. temperatures ranging above average and looking at the dry pattern continuing for the week ahead. from the north to the south, it is dry. a couple of systems down to the south of us, allowing for a little precip there yesterday, but for us and everyone in general, we cannot buy a cold front. we need a system from the north. we are running below average for rainfall, for october, of course, we start november, doesn't look like that's going to change any time soon. low 70s to low 80s for tuesday. skipping ahead to wednesday, perhaps a little bit cooler. it's hard to make out the

changes here, right. we've got the green closest to the coast that indicates a slight sea breeze. the yellows elsewhere, numbers above average. and as we look at the rest of the bay today, once again 60s and 70s out there. 69 downtown, san mateo, 70 palo alto, 75 in concord and remember that early sunset tonight at 5:08. afternoon highs coming in at about 3:00. 70 richmond. hazy to the north where we have the air quality advisory. if you're going to oakland to party, to tailgate it's in the low to mid 70s with a lot of sunshine today for the raiders and we'll be looking at lows 30s in the protected valley, maybe 50 in san francisco. the accuweather seven-day forecast, sunny and mild today. little change tomorrow. you download our accuweather app in the first part of the week, a slight sea breeze, slightly warmer. the second half of the week maybe a few degrees cooler. but that ridge does not look like it's going to go anywhere and that means still our

news to build a better bay area this is "abc 7 mornings." >> good morning, everyone. we are starting this half hour with a look at the weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen. good morning, lisa. >> hey, liz. the sun is up earlier this morning. here is a look at our sutro tower camera, you can see san francisco in the 50s, 42 in oakland. we have upper 30s half moon bay and the golden gate bridge we will get a bit of a sea breeze today. that will bring our temperatures down a few degrees. we've seen widespread 70s throughout the afternoon. this morning about the 30s and 40s. 37 santa rosa, petaluma and napa with 39 in livermore. and so as we go through the morning hours we'll see 60s, the afternoon, it's 70s inland, with upper 60s on the peninsula. and downtown san francisco in the upper 60s. we'll talk about if we can change things up a bit as we get

the decision was made to euthanize him. the deaths have prompted the owners to imme meant changes involvesing pre-race exams. the new york city marathon is set to start in a few minutes now. the largest marathon in the world from more than 125 countries and all 50 states. hundreds of thousands of others it's a spectator sport. new york police say they are prepared for the crowds and promise a hugely successful race. >> there will be thousands of cops working this sunday, most of them will be in uniform and highly visible posts but as always, we'll have a team of officers who you won't see keeping people safe. >> some of the celebrities running include former bachelorette andy dorfman, amy robach and former giants running back tiki barber. by day this man is known as an oakland street wear fashion designer with people donning his popular sneakers all over the world.

his students are developing a part he wishes he had found earlier. >> when i was younger my mom sewed and i never learned how to sew. i taught myself later in life because i thought it was for girls. we're going to go to zigzag. >> reporter: that stitch is a bit like carter's patch. he dabbled in customizing sneakers in college but it eventually fizzled. he joined the u.s. coast guard and ended up in the bay area and then -- >> i went to the fashion institute for design and merchandising in san francisco. >> from the military to fashion school. >> literally. like i -- this is a crazy story people don't really know. >> reporter: his students thankful for his service and a career change. >> the class, it's cool. it's a lot of cool spirits in here. everybody is creative. >> what are you wearing today? >> i'm learning how to control my foot on the pedal. last time i stomped on up and messed up the whole thing. >> reporter: carter is the definition of self-made, designs his own samples, his shoes found only in his store and he says this work is about passing on

we'll see you later. >> let's get a check of the weather for you joining us, mere's meteorologist lisa little bit earlier pretty nice sunrise around the bay area to enjoy with the clear sky and live look outside, pretty nice, isn't it? in emeryville where we have been into the 70s the past several days, that's above average. today about 70 and we will be looking at some very subtle changes as we start the workweek. some of those changes have to do with a weak sea breeze coming into play. as we look at the numbers right now, we're in the 30s in livermore, 40 in redwood city, with upper 30s by the north bay valleys. overnight tonight, once again at lot of 40s around the bay. look at pier 39 and we're enjoying not only the clear sky here but the mildest readings in the lower 50s. you go down to sfo it's about 50 degrees. here's live doppler 7 where the clouds are off the coast and

we're looking at that stable dry air mass. high pressure in control and that is keeping the storm track not only out of the bay area, but out of california, out of the pacific northwest, and air quality still not ideal out there. we'll call it moderate from saint helena the yellow there by the delta, rio vista. as we go down the peninsula into the east bay, moderate air quality san francisco over through oakland, el cerrito, fremont, san jose and livermore. so you definitely will notice hazy conditions out there. brilliant sunrise here, though, in san francisco where temperatures are in the low 50s to the 40s from redwood city, 42 gilroy, half moon bay, cold at the coast, 37 degrees and in the 50s here in santa cruz going through the mid 70s today. so hey, november, maybe you want to go to the beach. 36 by the delta, 39 in livermore. it's in the mid 30s petaluma, santa rosa, checking in at 37. so are you almost getting used to the cold, overnight

temperatures? well, if you are you may have noticed we're a couple degrees warmer than we have been with three to four degrees of warming in concord, even santa rosa. we've seen numbers in the 20s but not in the past couple days. highs today in the mid 70s from san jose. mild to warm, you go down to gilroy and morgan hill, 80 degrees today. upper 60s due to the weak onshore flow, the westerly wind bringing temperatures down maybe a few degrees, bringing the relative humidity up a bit. 67 in the sunset, north bay numbers from 78 in santa rosa, napa and calistoga, hazy there on our east bay about low 70s for you today in oakland, san leandro, union city 72 and head inland mid 70s for san ramon and cncord. temperatures in the mid and upper 70s around the bay and inland, 60s at the coast, by your monday afternoon, few 80s not out of the question inland. you download our accuweather app and we'll see extra cloud cover come into play by the middle of
