14-minute ride. highway 101 to cupertino, 15 minutes. no slowdowns. as mike was mentioning please be aware of the fog out there. >> thanks, vote. it is election day and money for affordable housing is one issue san francisco voters will decide today. >> $6 million in bonds for repairing housing units in the city. the measure would allow up to 2,800 new affordable housing units within existing buildings. also on the ballot proposition c would overturn the city's ban on e-cigarettes and vaping products and replace it with a ban that is smaller in scope. a no vote on c would uphold the city's ban which is set to take effect early next year. and six candidates are running for san francisco mayor including current mayor london breed. she does face six challengers. breed is expected to win re-election. the race for district attorney . suzy loftus was appointed after

the resignation of george gascon. also running chesa boudin, leif dautch and nancy tung. other special elections will be held today. >> you can read about that on our website, abc7news.com. that's where we'll post results after the polls close at 8:00 tonight. in the north bay firefighters are gaining steady ground on the kincade fire. it is 82% contained and cal fire is optimistic it will be under full control by thursday. the kincade fire burned nearly 78,000 acres. it's the latest active wildfire in california. the flames have wiped out hundreds of structures including 174 homes. hundreds of people in sonoma county still don't have electricity or gas. >> we have a sink full of dishes. we don't have any running water because we're on a well. we have cords running through the house. we're freezing cold. we can't cook here. we're spending money eating

takeout. >> abc 7 news was in healdsburg where people lined up at an assistance center to get help. it will be open today and tomorrow. new developments about one of the fires that broke out during high winds last weekend. pg&e says its equipment is connected to a fire in one area. fire investigators confirmed downed power lines sparked the flames in the afternoon of sunday, october 27th. and you'll recall it was really windy that day. investigators also point the finger at pg&e for four other fires that ignited across the bay area on that same day. in the east bay a protest is planned as city crews begin to clear out a large homeless encampment on wood street and west grand avenue close to interstate 880. the city says the lot is filled with abandoned vehicles. our media partner the east bay times says up to 100 vehicles could be towed away. the city says it will not impound those vehicles used for shelter. activists say it's unfair to ask people in the encampment to leave without giving them a place to go.

a vote is expected on an unprecedented project spanning santa clara county to san francisco and it could speed up your commute. the project would add an express lane to highway 101 and 280 from morgan hill to sfo leading all the way into downtown san francisco. it would be 65 miles and the minimum for car-pool would be three people. if you're not in a car-pool you could pay to use the express lane using fastrak. the vote will take place later this morning. this heart stopping moment caught on video as a man is seconds from death. hear from the b.a.r.t. hero in the right place at the right time. >> building a better bay area. in 100 days a challenge to help a student housing crisis. and this student who captured the imagination of social media buying all those krispy kreme doughnuts is getting pretty sweet news this morning. >> i had a feeling things would turn around. that's all ahead. 4:36. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. the entrepreneurial spirit

people talked to me about the haze yesterday afternoon. we don't have a spare the air day. all of it is staying below critical levels. a dense fog advisory, thick fog until about 9:00. then it will turn hazy. near 80 in the central valley. palm springs, 91 degrees. tahoe, the mid-60s not only today but all the way through the weekend even though our average high is 55 degrees. there's absolutely no sign of snow coming to the high country anytime soon. tat the live desk followinga tragedy in mexico. nine americans, three women and six children, killed in an ambush. relatives say the victims are part of a prominent mormon family. they believe drug cartel gunmen

days. >> no child, no young adult, no student should live in a car, on someone's couch or under an overpass especially while they are working towards fulfilling their dreams and beginning their careers. >> reporter: here under the guadeloupe bridge is one the many places elijah called home in san jose, a reality he never wants to relive and he doesn't want other young people to go sheer derminati di elijahot himself out of homelessness but the struggle is real. right now he's paying more than $2,000 a month for rent, holding down two jobs while going to college. the 100-day challenge aims to find other struggling students, connect them with resources, track their progress and make sure they don't fall through the cracks. >> when we bring all those people together our hope is it becomes a learning collaborative where after 100 days we have a system of care, coordinated system, for all our colleges to assure nobody is hopeless while

>> gonzalez can now work with krispy kreme as an independent contractor. the company will donate 500 dozen doughnuts when he starts up again, and they say their intent to stop him was to maintain high product quality standards. >> isn't that funny how that works? >> because they got dragged. >> they saw the light, the potential positive influence it would have on their product letting him do that. >> right. >> i was talking to my wife, she was a cheerleader in high school in atlanta, and they sold krispy kreme all the time for fund-raisers. they had a very strict policy about, yes, you can take our doughnuts but only sell them for this much and profit off them. he was bending the rules a little bit. then they saw he's bringing us to an audience we don't have. let's make it a little easier for him. good for them. >> entrepreneurial spirit that we like to encourage in so many young people. >> saw an old rule that doesn't

necessarily attend to today's needs. i'm glad they changed it. let's take a look at what's going on outside. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. 7:48. fog at 48 degrees this morning. it will turn sunny just about everywhere. slightly higher humidity. hopefully the lips chapped and yesterday that was dropping everything because my hands were so dry and slippery. hopefully that's not happening for you anymore either. fog and stars, a little chilly tonight. warmer highs for friday, saturday and sunday. now a little area of low pressure is crashing our high pressure that's been dominating our forecast and even though it's hundreds of miles away, it's close enough that is inducing a deemer and a little more moist marine layer. that's why we're seeing the fog this morning, a little more widespread. we'll see the same thing tomorrow morning before we get that warming trend for friday, saturday and sunday when the fog leaves us. 66 at half moon bay. san francisco, 70. we have mid-70s around the bay. and then upper 70s to about 80. so about 76 to 80 inland.

tonight you can seep the fog becoming a little more prevalent in the east bay and in the south bay and definitely along the coast. 39 at santa rosa. the rest of us in the 40s. here's my accuweather seven day forecast. we lose a couple of degrees and then look at the coast. that's when you can tell the marine layer's gone. we hit 70. near 80 elsewhere. we'll keep that warm weather through the weekend. jobina? good morning, everyone. this gray area you see over oakland on our traffic maps is the fog and just before the break i mentioned that there was wooden debris that had sprawled across northbound 880 before 66, primarily in the left lane and the middle lane. now we have an update that about five to six cars have gotten flat tires and are pulled off to the shoulder at the moment. so, again, if this is a part of your morning commute be aware. walnut creek to dublin, 13 minutes.
