term. she is expected to win re-election. breed faces five challengers, her opponents don't have as much funding or gavin newsom endorses breed. race for district attorney will be closely watched as well. suzy loftus is running for a full term. she was appointed by mayor breed after the resignation of george gascon. now that appointment led to pro-tuss because as incumbent d.a. some say it gives loftus an unfair advantage over the other three who are running. those candidates are chesa boudin, leif dautch, and nancy tung. aside from those races there are important ballot measures that have to do with vaping andax on fares. so if you haven't mailed in or dropped off your ballot, head to the polls. they open at 7:00. reporting live san francisco

city hall, lauren martinez, abc 7. at the live desk i'm following an urgent man hunt for two murder suspects who escaped from the monterey county jail. these are pictures showing how exactly they were able to get out. they cut a hole in the roof of the bathroom, look at that. incredible to see. investigators say these are the two men they're looking for. santos fonseca and jonathan salazar climbed into the ceiling space some time this weekend. >> they were identify a blind spot we have in this particular housing unit. >> authorities say they jumped a portion of jail wall that's under construction where there was no razor wire. the two are armed and dangerous and shouldn't be approached.

instead, please call 911 if you spot them. monterey county deputies have a $5,000 reward for any tip leading to their arrest. thank you for that update. a man accused of robbing a bank and trying to get away on a bicycle is in custody. a search led him to palo alto high school. he handed a note to the teller demanding cash. this happened around noon yesterday at the bank of america. officers did respond and found him at the high school less than a mile away. they chased him off campus and then arrested him. developing news this morning. reportedly police are looking into whether the orinda shooting informs retaliation for a quadruple killing in san francisco's hayes valley back in 2015. >> that's according to "the chronicle." investigators are checking the backgrounds of the orinda victims to see if they can help pinpoint a suspect. meanwhile, the family of one of

the victims says while they were holding a vigil sunday night people driving by stopped and were yelling the n word and other obscenities at them. >> that's what they told us, go back to the ghetto. how would you know we're from the ghetto? it's not where you live. it's a respect thing. and we didn't get that from them. >> today the orinda city council will discuss short-term rentals. san rafael will start regulating short-term vacation rentals like the one in orinda. they passed an ordinance last night, a three strike rule for complaints and people will have to pay an annual registration fee. this is in response to numerous oise complaints from people who live there. demanding answers from pg&e about its equipment. a judge gave them 15 days to answer a list of questions, most of them involving electrical

wires called jumper cables. one broke. a cause hasn't been determined yet. the judge wants to know whether the planned power outage process itself sparked wildfires. sonoma county is looking for feedback from residents after the recent kincade fire evacuations and power shutoffs. county officials releaased a survey. people can share problems they faced and tell the county what was helpful and what needs to be improved. residents can find it on the emergency website. building a better bay area involves better preparing for widespread pg&e power shutoffs n. fremont a senior community is taking action. our coverage of the niles canyon mobile home park moved city agcio aast night. as amanda del castillo tells us, it focused on proactive measures. >> reporter: this community is home to hundreds, 55 years and

the speeds are down this morning. it's the usual problem spots this is only going to make it worse for those drivers headed into the city. a live look at the san mateo bridge, westbound lanes, starting to fill in a little bit. eastbound much clearer but so far so good. everything is looking pretty smooth. >> thanks, jobina. happening today the orinda city council will discuss the future of short-term rentals after the deadly halloween party shooting at an airbnb. tonight's meeting will open with a moment of silence for the five victims who died. that all comes as we learned the shooting may be linked to a quadruple murder in san francisco. >> abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live with what we know so far. amy? >> reporter: that's the question, could the shootings here in orinda that happened last week be connected to a quadruple murder that happened in san francisco? that is the question "san francisco chronicle" is reporting that police are looking into whether those two are connected, whether it was

retaliation for a quadruple killing that happened in san francisco's hayes valley. victims' family members from last week in the attacks in orinda are questioning why it took so long for police to respond to noise complaint calls. they say they didn't response for an hour and a half. police say that was because they were helping with a home invasion call in lafayette. relatives don't buy it. >> it seems to me they were being lazy because the whole force wasn't in lafayette. everybody don't go to lafayette. somebody should have been in orinda. >> reporter: five people were shot and killed in orinda at a party at an airbnb house. police have not made any arrests or identified any suspects. they also the motive could be. the chronicle reporting that one

victim, one person kille is the accused killer in the san francisco quadruple murder that happened in hayes valley. reporting live, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. orinda isn't the only community that's dealing with the control of airbnb rentals. neighbors in one home in livermore says it is frequently rented out on airbnb to large groups. it only takes one incident to create a disaster. the homeowner says he is making changes. >> we've been paring back how often we do it, having smaller groups, monitoring more tightly. at the end of the day certain people just aren't going to like it. >> the city could impose it eion day in san

abc7news.com. that's where we'll post results tonight. the kincade fire is 82% contained. they are optimistic it will be under full control by thursday. the kincade fire has burned nearly 78,000 acres. it is the latest active wildfire in california. the flames have wiped out hundreds of structures. hundreds of people in sonoma county still don't have electricity or gas. >> we have a sink full of dishes, we don't have running water, we have cords running through the house. we're freezing cold. we can't cook here. we're spending all this money eating takeout. >> abc news was int an assistance center. one of the fires that broke out during high winds last weekend, pg&e says its equipment

connected to a fire in the area. fire investigators confirm that downed power lines sparked the flames. it was really windy that day. they point the finger at pg&e for four other fires on that same day. in the east bay a protest is planned as city crews begin to clear out a large homeless encampment on wood street and west grand avenue close to interstate 880. the city says this lot is filled with abandoned vehicles. our media partner says up to 100 vehicles could be towed away. the city says it will not impound the vehicles used for shelter but activists say it's unfair to ask people in the encampment to leave without giving them another place to go. a vote on a project that could speed up your commute. it would add an express lane to highway 101 and 280 from morgan

the east bay. the fog will stop at the east bay hills and kind of spread north/south. look for varying conditions as you drive that area today. mill t milpitas. san jose at about 48. most of us in the mid to upper 40s in the south bay. both sides, take you to alameda, 51. 40 in fairfield. 38 right now in novato. 48 in half moon bay. pretty clear, no fog here yet. chilly this morning and tranquil on the bay. look at the mid to upper 70s from about 1:00 through about 4:00. the fog will be gone by 10:00 and this afternoon we'll be in the low to mid-70s.

relatives say the victims are part of a prominent mormon family, the labaron family. they believe a drug cartel gunman attacked in a case of mistaken identity. the victims are part of a mormon community living in northern mexico. they were traveling in three vehicles near the arizona border. as many as 13 other members of the community are missing right now. >> thank you for that, jobina. social media cannot get enough of this incredible video. it shows the moment a b.a.r.t. supervisor turned in a superhero. watch this man falling off the platform as a train gets so close sunday night. in the blink of an eye, bart supervisor o'connor pulls him to safety. >> in my mind that train was 20 yards back and he was still in the middle of the track. obviously he wasn't. i look at him, he's not going to make it.
