seeing. you can see all of this gray across the screen. that's the fog in the area. a live look at the golden gate bridge, there's a fog advisory, also a fog advisory for the san mateo bridge and carquinez bridge. 80 at emeryville, a lot of fog out there. in the east bay, oakland is ramping up safety improvements to a neighborhood after a deadly hit and run. >> kate larsen was at the scene of that crash where a local business dedicated a space to the victims. ♪ how do i say gooby good-bye g >> a community in oakland is still grieving for one of their families ripped apart by a hit-and-run driver seven months ago. >> three on the ground. >> reporter: angel garcia vazquez and his mother and his uncle were all hit while they crossed foothill boulevard at 26th avenue around 7:00 at night

on april 13th. paramedics tried to resuscitate the family but angel and alma died. >> the tragedy affected us personally. >> reporter: they were all leaving the laundromat when they were hit. laura dedicated a reading room at family laundry to angel and alma. they have also been trying to support the family's and two surviving children. right after the crash oakland's department of transportation installed these plastic posts and painted a pedestrian island in the middle of the intersection. but at the dedication they explained how they're making more safety improvements to this area. >> we determined that one intersection over at foothill and 27th avenue, there will be a new traffic signal constructed. and then here at foothill and 26th avenue we'll be installing flashing yellow lights. >> reporter: the alleged hit-and-run driver was captured by u.s. marshals in virginia

over the summer. kate larson, abc 7 news. many stanford students are on high alert after multiple cases of potential or confirmed druggings were reported to the university over the past month. there have been four reports of druggings at residence halls or gatherings on campus in four weeks. in one case involving an unknown location on mayfield avenue, a test came back for the date rape drug, ghb. some students say it's a crisis and they're calling on the administration do more to address this. >> there are also many that dn't get reported. the fact we had so many reports since the quarter started means there's a real epidemic of druggings that happen on campus. >> at this point the department of public safety does not have evidence to verify the reports of drugging. university officials say we take every report seriously and encourage students to continue to report them. police are asking for

information to assist in the investigation. on the peninsula, the san mateo county sheriff's office says there have been 30 car break-ins since month. thieves broke into 17 cars on monday and another 13 cars were burglarized between wednesday night and yesterday morning. the sheriff's office is urging everyone to take valuables out of their cars and to call 911 if they see something suspicious. happening today, the healdsburg community is coming together to thank first responders from saving the community from fire. there will be a downtown trick or treat and live music and kids activities. at 5:00 p.m., a celebration of gratitude. once the festivities end at 6:00, people are invited to stay downtown for dinner and to shop local so they can support businesses there. lyft has fixed its e-bike battery problem. the bikes are return to san francisco next month. lyft pulled the bikes off city streets in july after two caught on fire.

the company says not only has it been approved to relaunch the fleet but also the number of rental bike also quadruple to 4,000 bikes by april of next year. the rar oliseum was the raiders final prime time scheduled game. josh jacobs scoring the winning touchdown with a minute remaining. the raiders won it 26-24. they are now 5-4 on the season. the next game is next sunday at the coliseum against the 0-8 bengals. they risked their safety when gunfire erupted in a crowded peninsula mall. today two army recruiters are being honored. >> when he tells me to quit, i'll quit. >> a bay area woman feeds thousands of people. now she needs a little bit of help to keep it going. >> and abc7 news drew attention to this pothole problem on a south bay highway. this morning it's not a problem

the fall of the wall. the wall was made of nearly 27 miles of concrete and barbed wire. it enclosed west berlin in an attempt to prevent east germans from frleeing to the west. an escape tunnel underneath the wall has been opened to the public for the rest of the time. people who had escaped earlier from west berlin built it. one escapee says the opening of the tunnel is important to remind germany how important democracy is. >> thank you. happening today, two army recruiters will receive soldiers medals for providing life saving measures to shooting victims in san bruno in july. isaiah locklear took off his shirt to apply pressure to one man's gunshot wound and then helped to carry one victim on

hi, mike. >> looking at the fog to see how long it will hang around. it is very formidable through 7:00. then as we get deeper into the forecast it is still over the bay at noon and at the coast. we are never able to quick initiate it in somes. inland, you have your best chance of sunshine. today will be a lot like yesterday. the pattern is locked in. you can see how dangerously low visibility is at the golden gate bridge. here's a look at san rafael and same thing. we're seeing right here. so you just have to be slower and more cautious of driving this morning. i know it's hard, especially driving in when you're tired. you have to pay more attention. murky afternoon on the way. morning fog tapers sunday and monday. it will be much cooler but it's a dry transition to it late next week. a lot of times that transition is wet. not this time. still searching for some rain. mid to upper 50s along the coast

deer. authorities say the best way to keep mountain lions away is to not plant plans that deer like to eat. free train rides are continuing through today. this is to help out people in the north bay who had to deal with power outages as well as the kincade fire. the bad news is there will not be train service between the petaluma downtown and novato hamilton stations over the weekend. smart will provide buses for passengers. engineers need to did some testing for the new novato down town station. a popular san francisco food truck just opened its brand-new brick-and-mortar restaurant. it's located at 21 and valencia. it is in the heart of san francisco's mission district. the neighborhood is known for its mexican fare.
