you made it to friday. congratulations. this is november 8th. good morning to you at 5:00 a.m. >> good morning. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. here's mike. >> i want to look at the fog that's out there once again and the visibility. it is getting lower, which means it's getting worse and more dangerous. right now we're one mile or less in santa rosa, petaluma and napa. we're still doing okay at sfo at 2, but it's also lowering. 10 in san jose. you're the biggest difference from yesterday. i want to show you one of those areas. i was talking to jobina, she said chp said visibility is dangerous on 580 in dublin, down to 50 feet.

when you're driving at the speed limit, you cannot stop within 50 feet. here's san rafael this morning. temperatures in the 40s and 50s. staying in the 50s at the coast. 60s to 70s around the bay and inland neighborhoods this afternoon. jobina? >> good morning. you can see that gray all over our traffic map, that's because the fog is the big talker this morning. we are looking at a sigalert in santa rosa here. this is westbound 12 before llano. the chp is holding traffic right now at fulton road. there are several alternates you can take. i will post those on my twitter account. a live look now at 280. foggy there and dangerous conditions across the bay area. please be careful if you're out on the roadways. >> thanks. >> happening today, it has been one year since the camp fire, the deadliest fire in state

history. >> the town of paradise will hold several events today to honor the people who lost their lives. lauren martinez covered the fire last year and is now live in the newsro newsroom. >> this morning there are several events happening to commemorate what happened. at 1 11:08, 11:08, 11:08, 11:115 will be held for the 85 lives lost. around 2:00, world kitchen will host a free community meal at the paradise alliance church. looking back, the camp fire destroyed 14,000 homes in paradise. the surrounding communities also suffered. 12 homes have been rebuilt in the last year. paradise mayor jodie jones is all about moving forward. >> people were just astonished at the level of destruction. but i prefer not to look back.

i'm looking forward. what's eye opening is the current population of the town of paradise pre-camp fire there were 26,000 people. currently the estimate is 4,000 to 5,000 people. that means fewer than 2 out of every 10 people who lived there before the fire now live there. the population of chico increased by 20,000 people. it went from 92,000 to 112,000. reporting live in the newsroom. lauren martinez, abc7 news. >> i know you were up there for a while covering the story, when you think about it now, what sticks in your mind? i would say how fast everything happened. we've been covering fires. we say how fast they move. that morning and that day we were trying to keep up with the information coming to us.us.us. if you ask any foreveirefighter

day, they were just trying to save as many people as they could. investigators confirm pg&e started a grass fire that burned down a lafayette tennis club. the fire brurnburned during int winds and prompted evacuations. a transformer failed sending sparks into the brush and that ignited other spark fires across town. at the live desk, i'm learning a deadly hazmat situation at a buffalo wild wings intt one employee died and ten others went to the hospital after this were exposed to a floor cleaner in the restaurant. fire officials say the cleaner called super 8, is commonly used. it contains sodium hypochloride which has a chlorine and can be dangerous. buffalo wild wings says they are

"even lizzo saw the video and said it was the best thing she's seen that day. now they'll be on "good morning america." i asked their teacher, dorothy, she's excited to be on national tv but trying to keep it real for the kids. i asked her how do you pick out what you'll wear when you're going to be on morning national tv? > i wanted to make it familiar with the kids. i always tell them, it's not a show we do. this is our every-day. we just -- the world just now wants to see it. i picked an outfit that they see me wear all the time. they're not too nervous today. >> so the kids are here for the shoot. they got up very early for second graders, it's for east coast time.

visibility one mile through most of our neighborhoods, even down to 50 feet around dublin. need to be careful throughoutth number two, that fog is impacting your morning commute. this is a live look at the san mateo bridge, a fog advisory e carquinez bridge and the golden gate bridge. number three, the parents of one of the victims in the orinda shooting plan to file a wrongful death lawsuit against airbnb today. ramon hill's family says airbnb is not helping victims families pay for funerals, but airbnb says they have set aside a fund. stanford students are concerned after reports of at least four druggings on campus in just the last month. university officials say so far the public safety department does not have evidence to verify the reports. today marks one year since the deadly camp fire. 85 people died. 14,000 homes were destroyed in paradise. so far only 12 homes have been

rebuilt. number six, the healdsburg community is coming tto estivities will start at 3:00 with a downtown trick or treat. number seven, an early start for some kids in pittsburg. they're at school to enjoy the national spot like on "good morning america" after this video of them singing a remixed lizzo song went viral. ♪ reno, california voters are environmentally conscious. a new survey finds 70% of us support a tax on plastic manufacturers. recology backed that survey. they asked voters if they would support a 2020 ballot initiative. the measure would implement a fee of 1 cent per plastic package that manufacturers could pass on to consumers in the form of higher prices. it would require all packaging being come possible, reusable or recyclable by 2030. b.a.r.t. will retire the

camera. definitely foggy here. today's forecast, remember yesterday. tonight's forecast, remember this morning and yesterday morning? the cooler weather, the transition this time of the year brings us rain, but i don't i had it will this time. still dry. here's how thick and deep the fog is. by noon, a bit over the bay and a lot at the coast. that will continue heading into the evening hours. we try to push 80 in fairfield, yucaipa, upper 70s in santa rosa, lake port, antioch, livermore, morgan hill. low to mid 70s for the rest of the inland neighborhoods. 70s for richmond, san mateo. the 50s will hug the coast, until you get down to santa cruz, 66 degrees there.he cloudn back. mid 40s to 50 degrees. pattern is locked in for the weekend.

lawsuit. >> it comes as airbnb says it will pay for the victims funerals and counseling for the families. lauren martinez joins us live i. lauren? >> according to the "san francisco chronicle," parents of one of the victims says that airbnb allowed dangerous party conditions that ultima ramon hill sr. and cynthia taylor plan to file the suit today in contra costa superior court. they're claiming airbnb did not screen the people who rented out the orinda house properly and allowed drugs and alcohol. the suit claims the rental company and the owners of the home were negligent in the wrongful death of their son, ramon hill jr. also airbnb says they will pay for funerals and counseling of the victims. they said we have set aside funds to support the victims loved ones with funeral expenses and counseling services and we have been in contact with those representing mr. hill's family

in this regard. ramon hill jr. was one of five people gunned down at the house party off lucille way on halloween night. reporting live in the newsroom, lauren martinez, abc7 news. thank you. in the east bay, a community in oakland is believing for one of their families ripped apart by a hit-and-run driver seven months ago. a dedication was held last night for angel garcia vasquez. his mother, alma vazquez and his uncle. they were all hit as they crossed foothill boulevard on august 13th. angel and alma died. jaime is still in a coma. right after the crash oakland's department of transportation installed these plastic posts and painted a pedestrian island in the middle of the intersection. but at the dedication they explained how they're making more safety improvements to this area. >> we determined that one intersection over at foothill

and 27th avenue, there will be a new traffic signal constructed. and then here at foothill and 26th avenue we'll be installing flashing yellow lights. >> the alleged hit-and-run driver was captured by u.s. marshals in virginia over the summer. many stamford students are on high alert today after multiple cases of potential or confirmed druggings were reported to the university over the past month. over the past month there have been four reports of druggings at residence halls or gatherings on campus. in one case involving an unknown location on mayfield avenue, a test came back for the date rape drug, ghb. some students say it's a crisis and they're calling on the administration do more to address this. >> there are also many that don't get reported. the fact we had so many reports since the quarter started means there's a real epidemic of druggings that happen on campus. >> at this point the department of public safety does not have

evidence to verify the reports of drugging. university officials say we take every report seriously and encourage students to continue to report them. police are asking for students with relevant information to come forward and provide it in order to assist with the investigation. on the peninsula, the san mateo county sheriff's office says there have been 30 car break-ins since monday. thieves broke into 17 cars on monday and tuesday in millbrae, another 13 cars were burglarized in el granada between wednesday night and yesterday morning. the sheriff's office is urging everyone to take valuables out of their cars and to call 911 if they see something suspicious. we're getting in dramatic video of firefighters battling a fire in australia. crews are driving through walls of flames. australia's fire season started in september. much earlier than in previous years. officials say there are nearly 96 fires burning across the country with 57 of them burning

out of control. the fire service says some of the fires are becoming more intense and more dangerous. damage to buildings and injuries have been reported. it's unclear how many people have been hurt. reggie? happening today, the healdsburg comni together to thank first responders for saving the community from fire. there will be a downtown trick or treat and live music and kids activities. at 5:00 p.m., a celebration of gratitude. once the festivities end at 6:00, people are invited to stay downtown for dinner and to shop local so they can support businesses there. lyft has fixed its e-bike battery problem. the examiner is reporting that the bikes will return to san francisco next month. lyft pulled the bikes off city streets in july after two caught on fire. the company says not only has it been approved to relaunch the fleet but also the number of rental bike also quadruple to 4,000 bikes by april of next year. the coliseum was rocking for the raiders final prime time game in oakland.

isaiah locklear took off his shirt to apply pressure to one man's gunshot wound and then helped to carry one victim on a stretcher. staff sergeant mike morrow was asked to help a second victim who was shot in the leg. the two men will be honored with medals given for noncombat heroism this afternoon. the national rifle association is dropping its suit against san francisco. the suit was filed after the board of supervisors passed a resolution in september calling the gun rights lobby a domestic terrorist organization. the nra claimed the city was infringing on its free speech rights, city officials say it was the opposite, they were only expressing an opinion. police officers suspicions about a truck parked outside of a store led to the arrest of two people in mountain view. they're accused of stealing equipment from local law enforcement agencies. these pictures of james atkins and ashley hund

on the peninsula, a home security camera captured video of a mountain lion in san bruno. the big cat visited a backyard in the rollingwood neighborhood several days ago. mountain lions often prey on deer. authorities say the best way to keep mountain lions away is to avoid planting landscaping that deer like to munch on. motion sensitive lighting can also be a deterrent. a popular san francisco food truck opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant. senior own mark with filipino fusion burritos and tacos. the owner started the business nine years ago when they bought a run down food truck off of craigslist. >> i think our footprint was the food trucks. at the end of the day, hey, why
